Chalobah joins Forest on loan til Jan

Featured Replies

Well at least it's somewhere and he isn't going to be stuck in purgatory anymore.

Not really what we anticipated though, he should be playing Prem football this year, I don't really understand the thinking. Personally I think he (or Josh) would've offered just as much as MVG did last night. Still, he just signed a 5 year deal so the club obviously think of him as a long term prospect.

Or at least I hope they do. It's hard to tell with our mob.

Nice strong team for him to be fighting for his place in and title contenders so he'll have similar pressure to last season. Better than being in the reserves. Wonder if Zola wanted him again

I think even smaller EPL teams are under so much pressure these days that there are very few clubs that would be willing to risk putting the burden of the most important position on the field on a 19 year old, I can't think of many young CM's in the league at all.

So for now this is probably for the best, MvG looked really good in pre-season but had a poor game against Basel, however I believe he will get better. Chalobah's first team chances will increase once Lamps and Essien's contracts expire likely at the end of this season.

Well it was quite clear that no EPL team wanted him, otherwise he wouldnt have gone to the Championship. Glad he at least gets to play, hope he does well and theres interest from a premiership club come January.

You play for a top end side in the Championship and you play decent passing football and learn about the expectation of title challenges.

Play for low end table Premier League teams and most weeks you're just the whipping boys and looking to pinch a goal where you can.

Seems only Palace were talking to us about taking him on but nothing materialised for some reason or another.  Better he's out getting games in any case.

I wonder i the clubs eyes if this will put him back another year. I would have liked to see him get a premier league club or if not send him on loan to a German club.

The championship is a world apart from where we need our players to be.

United just recruited Zaha from the Championship, it isn't an easy league and is certainly more physical.  But as mentioned, the hope may be that he gets a half season prem loan in January if he impresses enough for Forest.

I think it's premature to be judging a promising young Netherlands international after one poor game and then using that to compare him to Chalobah and McEachran.

Rightly or wrongly, it seems that Mourinho still favours the usual suspects of Lampard, Ramires and Mikel in the two CM positions, so it's not even clear how many games Van Ginkel will be getting this season. It has got to be to both Chalobah's and the club's benefit that he spends the season at another club where he will undoubtedly get many more matches than he would here. Another premier league team would have been ideal but I get the impression that our loan deals are usually very carefully considered and there will probably be a good reason (possibly football/personnel related) that we decided to send him to Forest.
