Yet another new pitch

Featured Replies

I'm really getting sick and tired of us changing the pitch all the time. I heard that this is the third time this season. Tell me that's not true icon_mad.gif

With all our money surely we can get a perfect pitch?

Its not as simple as that.

We have had this problem every year since the stadium was completed , there is now a lack of sun entered the pitch from the west and during the first 3 months of the year the pitch simply cuts to shreds. We've had it looking like a beach, like a swimming pool and like a mud bath.

Im really not sure what the long term solution is to be honest.

Well if they insist on putting the away supporters in the Shed we could knock down the back wall and rip off the roof to let some air and light in.

Apparently "before we filled in the corners the pitch recieved more sun and wind"..... (Neil Barnet - Chelsea TV)

But look at any game in the 70's and we were always playing on the beach!

Agree with the Moos.

Surely with the money we have we could sort this out...it is false economy to change pitch 2-3 times a year.

?100k a time, that's a Scotty Sinclair gone on turf! 259.gif

If a 16 year-old teenager can grow skunk weed in his bed-room in London 259.gif , I'm sure a Russian billionaire will find a way to grow grass on a football pitch.

Ultra violet lights are the way forward!

If we can't use real grass then why not try using that fake grass (plastic stuff)? I think it's great. My favourite team here in Sweden use it and it has been in top shape for like 2 years or so. Now it's starting to look bad so they have to change it again. But still I rather change every 2 years or so than every 2 months icon_rolleyes.gif

In the end of last season in sweden there were teams with pitches that looked like a muddy field (a disgrace to football) but my teams pitch still looked like it was in the middle of the summer and it had just been put there. Amazing.

Also that plastic grass is great. I know there's some who hates it but I really like it. More people should give it a chance.

So I want us to have the "fake grass" on our pitch. It's better (and cheaper) than moving the stadium or changing the pitch all the time.

Do you mean that artificial turf or the grass that has fake grass woven into it? I've always wondered whether artificial turf doesn't make slidings much harder. Besides that, it leaves burns if it's not watered properly.

Well I guess you just have to grease yourself up a bit before the games. I bet you wouldn't mind rubbing oil on Carlo before a game icon_rolleyes.gif

Anyway. In my oppinion it doesn't seem to make slidings harder.

I think my team always water the pitch before a game and then you can slide pretty well. And I've never seen any burns on the players, though to be honest I've never been close enough to inspect them thoroughly icon_wink.gif

Games for the reserve team. Even keepers on the bench can do a warm up icon_rolleyes.gif
