I was just thinking this is yet another transfer window where we have again turned a profit, selling Schurrle for £24 mil and Bertrand for £10 mil whilst also getting Salah off the books in terms of wages (or at least most of his wages). Bringing in Caudadro for what was it £28 mil?

How do we keep doing it? We do seem to be run very well as a business and keep getting big amounts for players.

Credit to the club, they've worked hard (apart from the odd slip) in making sure we complied with it since it was announced.

We sell players at their peak value and bring in a lot of players who are only likely to appreciate. We have a fantastic board and they don't get enough credit, definitely nowhere near the amount of sh*t they got during the Rafa debacle.

We also have a fantastic youth setup at the moment so hopefully this trend will only grow over the next 5-10 years.

saw multiple arsenal fans on twitter claiming Roman is making up the numbers or paying the club money to buy the players meaning the buying clubs isn't paying as much money as reported. why cant they put their spreadsheets down and just admire how to do business, they sell their best players for 20m+, we sell fringe first team players for that. tossers

Arsenal fans just hate us pure and simple they're very jealous of us. It's all because we came in and took over when they're so called 'Invincibles' were looking like they were going to dominate. f**k them I say, nothing pleases me more than pissing off the Gooners.

Just looking at their signings and is it any wonder that they don't make money like we do? They sign players like Welbeck, Podolski, Monreal, Ozil at the height of their value. They simply aren't as good at mining good deals like we are, although we also get fortunate at times. We rarely get desperate though, which is what deals like the Welbeck, Ozil, Mata and Falcao deals are born out of.

Arsenal fans are weird like that though.

We seem to be making a lot more effort than others to comply with the rules.

I did say elsewhere that I wonder if we are working so hard to balance out the incoming signings with the outgoings because we're hoping to make a big signing this coming summer.

Do you think I should get that Messi tattoo?

Our net spend in the last 4 years is 62.8 million

Sky: "People used to talk about Chelsea buying their way to success, that certainly isn't the case now"

Gary Neville: "Chelsea really are doing good business for the last few windows. More good business from Mourinho."

I think this is a really valid point. We have done so well with the FFP regulations, SMASHED them in fact  - so much so that it leaves us with an enormous cushion to go out and spend big if we need / want to.

As great as I think it is to sell fringe players, there is only so many times we can do it and have it as a sustainable strategy, otherwise you end up with a completely inconsistent squad. The loan players - yes sell them, but I for one wont be happy if this "sell first team player before we buy first team player" momentum continues. It can only go so far.

I think we've pretty much peaked with regards to players in our squad that we'll be able to sell for a profit without weakening the starting XI.

Jose's molded the squad to his liking and you would like to think that in 3 transfer windows he is now pretty close to having the squad he wants.

The club has backed him on some pretty eyebrow raising sales and releases with the likes of Mata, Lampard, Cole, Luiz and Schurrle all gone in his season and a half in charge, quite honestly, I don't think there is many clubs in the world that would allow their manager to do that.

Quite honestly I have no idea what to expect going into the summer transfer wise and I really believe there's going to be a pretty big name coming in because we've been significantly reducing the wage bill and making profit on sales for a couple of years now.

With a new shirt sponsor and some funds set aside I think the club are planning something to wow the fans and make a hefty statement to the world of football.

Yep I am inclined to agree with this. I think the only first team fringe players who we could sell on at the moment for significant income would be Rambo (c.£20-£25m?), and potentially to a lesser extent, cech.

Hard to say what will become of our players who are out on loan; who knows, one or more could return and have a blistering pre-season and be given a chance - even if it is just to be another fringe 1st team player. Difficult to say. But I would agree that I wouldnt be surprised to see us spend a few quid this summer without having to sell first. The squad will obviously need additions, and I cant see any of our current high value main-stays being for sale - unless PSG decide they want to spunk £100m on Oscar, or Real Ma-b*stard-drid come sniffing about for Hazard (has he signed his extension yet?!)

Anyway yeah. Agree with you!

You are going to be disappointed, FC.

I'm not talking Messi big but I think someone like Varane might come in and we won't need to offset that with player sales.

Imagine if it were Varane, we'd have two of the most promising defenders in Europe on our books who could easily be a part of our defense for the next ten years, to me that's a statement.

I don't know who else is likely to be available but there's rumours doing the rounds that Thomas Muller might look to move clubs this summer, then there's the constant rumours surrounding Pogba and Rues and I've seen our name linked to Mauro Icardi for a while now.

I have no idea who the signing might be but I think there's going to be one or two big names coming in because it's what I feel the club have been working towards.

Tbf I kind of feel a marquee signing coming along this summer. Someone like Hazard (although you could argue fabregas was one too, but not to the same extent).

I agree.  I reckon Jose has got his eyes on Pogba and Varane.  Those would be the kind of signings that would show real intent and would guarantee Chelsea would be near the top for the next decade.

Varane should be our main target this summer. Cahill is done and Terry will be 1 year more older..

And a striker like Lacazetee or Icardi to replace the king and maybe Reus.

I agree with the above - fantastic transfer business once again.

Eiether of those players would be immense. But a striker seems to be our most pressing demand. Clearly, Drogba is not a long term solution. We'll be down to just Costa and Remy, and top quality strikers don't come cheap.

Pogba is just a pipe dream... can't see it happening really and If it really were to happen we have to get rid of Oscar which I don't think is going to happen. imo.
