Rotary Chelsea FC watch - Swiss made? Good? Or Rip off?

Featured Replies

Swiss made or not does not matter for quartz watches.

The question is would you want to wear anything Chelsea branded in semi-formal situations. Dont know how it is across the pond, over here it is well laughed at.

To be honest I think it makes the watch a bit tacky. tontot you can do better ;)

Who really needs one in this day and age anyway!

I want an iWatch, but the nephew said it would be like a toddler owning a Ferrari.

Don't get the iWatch.

It essentially has to pair with your iPhone... So if you're carrying a smartphone around, why use a smart watch? It would surely just be a more awkward and fiddly way of doing pretty much everything you can do with a smartphone except it's strapped to your arm.

I have worn a watch every single day since I was about 13 years old, I feel lost without wearing one nowadays.

By contrast I don't think I've worn one once in 13 years haha. That's one of the many things a phone is for :)

So... when you're at someone's house and you desperately need to check whether you have stayed a respectable time before taking your leave, how do you take a sneaky glance at your phone to see how much time has passed?

Exactly that, but for some reason I want one. Ridiculous as I've only just mastered my phone and Moi and others had to teach me how to post a youtube clip. Old man crisis I think.

Surely a pocket watch would be more fitting for a man of your experience?

Yup!

I have one and think it makes me look old which I am of course. It's in the drawer with the incontinence pants.

I love my watch, it has a map of Europe on the face.

I've thought about the Chelsea Rotary watch as I think it looks really nice, but again, wasn't sure whether it would be slightly tacky having a football logo.

Comes up on that page.

You dirty slut.

I personally would not wear any watch with a club logo when dressing formally. Casual wear though, sure why not?

I do wonder if the prestige of the watch brand influences what is socially acceptable to wear when dressing formally. As an example, if one were wearing a suit and also wearing a PSG Hublot King Power would it be considered more acceptable due to the prestige of the Hublot brand? Granted a 48mm watch is huge for a suit regardless but you get my point.

I have seen many individuals in recent days wear something such as a Richard Mille while dressing more formally. Certainly not a traditional or "clean" faced watch brand by any means. True, no club logo, but still not simple by any means and arguably too "busy" for formal wear.

Again, personally, I don't think it's suitable if dressing formally but I don't see any problem with it when dressing casually. If you like the style (or the person you are buying it for would like the style), and want to buy it, I say go for it.

Only when we're not comparing cock size.

Comparing cock size, I can understand!!  That's important!

I'm a bit of a collector myself, got nearly a dozen watches. I've been thinking of picking up the one with the black leather band with blue stitching.

I agree it's not something you'd wear to a formal even but club crest or not, it,ll look very sharp in more casual settings including business casual and a dressed up casual.
