As for the united game, I challenge anyone to happy with our tactics that game. 29% ball possession at home, seriously?

1-0 win that set us clear at the top of league and made it plain sailing to be Champions afterwards?

Well happy with it.

Happy with the TACTICS.

Surely we are better than to resort to this when results are crucial. Particularly when man for man we are a better side.

Yes I was happy with the TACTICS that secured us a "1-0 win that set us clear at the top of league and made it plain sailing to be Champions afterwards"

Fair enough, each to there own. Personally think we are better than having to do that. We have beaten united in crucial games in recent years, without having to play in this manner.

You forget at the time we had a striker crisis and we looked tired. That 1-0 win was a stroke of genius. There are games to play certain ways they can't all be 6-0 wins over Swansea.

Bobby you have consistently missed my points, and reply naively. Next time dont bother, mate.

The Tactics were to win the game in a defensive manner.  Jose couldn't even hide how happy he was with the way it worked out.

I don't get this whole train of thought that tactics equal attacking football.  WEnger has tried that tactic a lot....

I think we will get our season up and running by winning this one we relish these big games and hopefully that will kick us on to go on another big run. 1-0 Chels.

Its not about playing ATTACKING football, but POSITIVE football.

I can assure you now, there is no way JM planned for us to be defending that much, with so little possesion at Home v Utd. Of course he will say they were the tactics, bu we were simply forced onto the back foot and couldnt retain the ball.

Why better? Who says tactical football is worse, if you want pretty football and losses there is a club in North London that would be happy to have you, I love the fact that we grind out victories and can defend, I used you love Italian football in the 90's, defending is an art and nothing satisfies me more than cancelling out flair players and hitting them on the counter, I actually enjoy it, that's good football, teams that can't do it just moan, when a crap team just keeps 10 men behind the ball and lumps it away yea it's crap. people don't understand Chelsea don't do that, we cancel teams out, recycle the ball, move quickly into transition, we are the best in the world at it and people should learn to appreciate it..that win was called a Mou masterclass for a reason...

It's a forum dude, people reply get used to it. Also don't be such a condescending douche next time.

Its a forum but I don't want to discuss any points with you, because you don't seem to understand what I am trying to say.

I dont choose to support Chelsea. I was born with it so all these people saying about going to support Arsenal are delusional.

You hit the Nail on the head. Why on earth would we be concerned with cancelling out other teams Flair players, when ours are better! My point is that we do not need to play or setup in this manner to win football matches. We have the players to be on the front foot, and IMO will be a stronger, more successful team in the future for it.

I am not sure how many times I have to say it, its not about playing pretty, beautiful football. More about having a positive intent, showing fluidity and movement, and a desire to dominate our opponents. I believe the reason we struggle to break down the 'smaller teams'  , and look slow and sluggish sometimes is because this is what the players are accustomed to playing like in big matches.

For what its worth, its very hard to change our line up, with the lack of depth.

I don't believe Zouma should play Holding midfield. The guy is a pure CB. With the smaller players City have, that will be floating around him, I think he will get the run around. His pace become nullified as where will it be used to effect in that position (he needs a few strides to get going)? The game whizzed by him last year in that position, though its no slight on him, he done his best.

Should we want to sure up the midfield, I would try RLC. He will be instructed to be robust, and break play up. And break forward with purpose. It will be an acid test, however if he is truly ready to step up...he will show he is capable.

Its so disappointing that we have no replacement for ivan, (or a LB for azpi to play RB) as he was truly dismal at the weekend. I hope hes had a good kick up the backside.

My Team:

                              Begovic

Ivan            JT                  Cahill               Azpi

                                  Matic

RLC (either here or next to Matic)   Fabregas

Willian                                                          Hazard

                                 Costa

Wow! It's a FORUM you don't get to choose who replies to you.

Haha, that must be one of the funnies things i've ever read on a forum. "Nah, i don't want a response from you".  :laugh2:

I expect a typical Chelsea performance. They need to be very good to beat us, I can't see the hammering some predicted ( unless a couple of dodgy penalties or an early send off). It would be good if Jose run a couple of more training sessions on shooting this year.  It's almost like everyone was wearing the wrong boot when comes to shooting since the pre-season.

After schurrle I don't think we have a single long range shooter in the squad. Maybe Matic has the potential to.

I'd say Oscar, but yea I don't think we take enough shots from outside of the box. I specifically remember Fabregas being in Lampard range against Swansea, with space and time to shoot and he passed it, we do need to take more long range shots, like this:

I would hope that we dont need to resort to these tactics in order to get a result. Its the mindset of a smaller team. We have enough quality to mark ourselves on the game, without being gung-ho. Need to implement a similar plan to when we won 1-0 (ivanovic goal) wasnt all about defending, We looked to be bright on the ball too.

yet another arsenal fan - you lost m8? this is a chelsea forum and ive seen better trolls through the inside of my arse crack

no one cares or remembers how you win. this is why your club has 0 premier league titles over the last 11 years and we have 4 + big ears

------------------------Begovic

Zouma-------Cahill-------Terry--------Azpilicueta

------------------William--------Matic

-------Traore--------Oscar--------Hazard

-------------------------Costa

I'd play Zouma for Ivanovic, Zouma won't go forward like Ivanovic does.

William for Fabregas, you get much more 'off the ball' work from William than Cesc.

Oscar is or most in form player, so play him in the middle of everything.

With William further back, Oscar running the show in the middle, and Cuadrado being utter crap, I would give Traore a start down the right.

Costa up front, but after 60 mins give Remy his place.

Falcao and Fabregas are simply no use to us when we haven't got the ball, which could be for 60+ of the 90 mins.

If you added eva as a CF Mou would be just as likely to play that squad, not to say it doesn't work but I can call Mou's squads like they are scripted, he is not very spontaneous or adventurous when it comes to picking his squad, and maybe that's a good thing

Mayweather doesn't get ko's and doesnt have to be a defensive boxer but he is and no one can beat him, mou has a philosophy, isnt gonna change and we do play fluid attractive football, were you not watching last season, second most goals scored even with our striker injured, in fact the one thing that bothers me is when we do play like arsenal too many passes and trying to walk it in, I'd like to see quicker passing, longer passes, zipping it out wide, like Man U in teh 90's if fact if you watch liverpool play that's the one thing they do well is move the ball quickly
