Chelsea fans do us proud

AGAIN!

Not only another memorable European night with ANOTHER last gasp winner in Spain but Chelsea show their class through and through. Just watched ITV's highlights programme and they said Chelsa and Valencia supporters mingled well in the city centre and showed a clip of them leaving the stadium together, showing true sportsmanship.

At Old Trafford there was trouble outside the ground before the match when bottle's were hurled at away supporters entering the ground, 18 arrests outside the ground, and what with Spurs last week.

Chelsea and their supporters have once again been fine ambassadors of English football, but Utd winning 7-1 regardless of their crowds behaviour I doubdt it will make the press.

Well done everyone who made the journey, and made the noise!!

Proud to be blue tonight!

Glad to see this post in here.

Stand up and take a bow all you travelling Blues, you did the whole country proud with your vocal support and impeccable behaviour. Certainly showed several others how to behave when travelling abroad.

The Valencia players also did their reputation no harm. No pissing and moaning like the Barcas of this land - but dignified in defeat. Applauded their fans at the end, shook hands with our lads and the officials, swapped shirts etc... I know its the simple things, but with some of the antics that go on in Europe now-a-days (can you imagine if it were the Chelsea fans who were in THREE seperate incidences like Manure? Jeeeeeez, the press would have a field day) - both teams, staff and fans did the game proud.

We were in the front row of the top tier for the game, and the atmosphere and noise was superb. Forget what the papers have printed over here about 2,500 away fans. The local press reported 4,000 Chelsea fans and that would be much closer to the mark IMO. Oddly enough there seemed to be no hassle for anyone looking to buy tickets. Looked like they were in plentiful supply. We travelled down from Barcelona on the day of the match and a spanish guy offered us tickets on the train!!! In light of what's happened over the last few weeks, it's worth noting the local papers also said that the Chelsea fans were impeccably behaved.

We were kept in the "customary" hour after the game, but we didn't mind too much as we were all having a disco. The players and staff celebrated big-time down in front of us at the final whistle. And after the players had had there moment, (about 20 minutes after the game when the stadium was empty of the home fans and press photographers), Jose came out on his own and stood waving and clapping the travelling Blues faithful. It was just him giving a big thank you to the fans. A wonderful gesture.

Loz, I have some footage on my phone which, if I can convert, I would post up. How do I go about doing that ? Also, I did the stadium tour yesterday with my little girl, (I wasn't expecting much, but to be fair it really was pretty good), and took some photos there that may also be of interest.

Thats reminded me Loz, ive still got to post my Stadium Tour pics - is there a suitable section in the CSR album for it ?

Cant wait to see the footage of Tuesday Just.

To bad we didn't meet up for a drink before the game because I couldn't find a bar open after the game. You are right about Jose after the game to come out and wave to the fan's pure class

See you next time

Dave

not only were chelsea and jose pure class on the pitch , we were in with the valencia fans and had no problems , also a number of them went out of their way to shake our hands at the final whistle and the majority in the ground at the end seemed to applaud chelsea off the pitch.

the only downside for us was the centre of town bars being closed after the game ,meant we had to head away from the centre and had to content ourselves with two person versions of "one man went to mow" in a bar on the outskirts, was hard work but the locals seemed to enjoy it.

I had great seats in front of upper tier not far from half way line. Bought them from a Spaniard outside the ground for less than face value. Understood why once inside as there were several gaps in different parts of the ground. So much for Valencia being a well supported club. There fans were silent throughout the 2nd half and all the noise emanated from the Chelsea fans. Was fantastic.

Spoilsports shutting all the pubs after the game making it difficult to celebrate. Must have been police orders because before the game the Black Sheep Irish pub were adamant that they'd be open until at least 1 am.

Forgot to add:

I read a report of the match in a Spanish paper next day. They were bewildered that the English drunk so much beer and threw so much celery. They also commented that the fans behaved impeccably, except for an incident on a train between Barcelona and Valencia when a few fans were apprehended.

Bewildered at fans throwing so much celery? Why? Are they used to much less celery being thrown? 300.gif
