December 15, 20178 yr Nothing wrong with Kappa back in the day. We got tipped the wink on a clothes shop off the Walworth Road in 83, that was selling this obscure label called Robe de Kappa ( if was hard to get hold of stuff back then, and most of the best places were independent shops in rough areas) Anyway we bought a couple of bits and went for a pint afterwards on East Street- there was an afternoon strip going on in the Masons Arms- remember some bird doing her stuff to that Steven Tin Tin Duffy track " Kiss me with your mouth". Good old stripper music that! Stuck in my mind ever since
December 15, 20178 yr Author Ewell: Agreed re Kappa. Olympus Sports had just opened in Glasgow back in 1984 and it was great for Kappa sportswear. Adidas zx500 and zx600 too. Mind you I wore them for running too. Reasonable runner as a teenager back then.
December 15, 20178 yr I used to buy my gear from Temples in the Edgware Rd and that gaff in Shepherds Bush that's still open but I can't remember it's name. There was also a shop down a side street in High Street Kensington which was the first place I remember having to get buzzed in bought a pair of Diadora Borgs in there.

Nice, I'd wear in the office, and to meetings.

Stuart's of Shepherds Bush on the Uxbridge Road- your right it's still there. It was Sharp Sports off Kensington High St I believe. We used to get our Wedge haircuts at Robert Fielding Hairdressers in Croydon- forever flicking the front bit out your eyes! Ive got a supporters club ID card from 82 somewhere at home from 82- wedge and navy Lyle and Scott polo shirt- I'll dig out and post soon
December 15, 20178 yr Author Laughed out at 1905 getting a Chelsea tie when only 12! Nice tie,but I would not have as a 12 year old have appreciated it either.

December 15, 20178 yr Can’t believe how cheap some of the labels are now. Sports direct cheapened some Ellese and Fila are cheaper than he old days. I remember a guy from school in 1983 being asked politely for his tachini tracksuit while he was wearing it!! It was 110£+ back then, wouldn’t be anywhere near the equivalent now. Was navy blue valour with white crosses on it.
December 17, 20178 yr Author Remember that on Boxing Day the new football kit for Christmas would get the first. 'showing off'. New tops, footballs and boots or trainers (black,of course!) would be worn by my mates and myself.

Kappa threatened to sue Viz over the character Kappa Slappa so they changed it to Tasha Slappa. I was in a pub in Southend a couple of years ago that had strippers and an outside toilet it was like being transported back to the 80's. Edited December 17, 20178 yr by bluehaze

December 21, 20178 yr Author One year when I was about 11. I remember my old dear was working in a local John Menzies . She told me that she would get me a few football books, but it would be in early January before I could get them. She was right. I must have had about a dozen books. Annuals and autobiographies. Brilliant However, she changed jobs before the next Christmas! Shame!!
December 25, 20178 yr Author Merry Christmas you lot. Got a retro Chelsea top. Our 1983/84 one. Second time in 34 years I have got this classic top.

One thing that has always stayed with me is the game against Fulham it was on Radio 2 (a second division game as the live commentary those were the days) I was 10 years old and it was nerve wracking listening to the game. It certainly affected me as I haven't been able to listen to Chelsea on the radio since. I might turn it on but can only listen for a couple of minutes. Boxing days at QP Ha we’re always fun
