Got a letter back “ So sorry you don’t like the new ground, it’s all your gonna get” Great administrator overall I’d say, though he didn’t come cheap. Believe he was one of highest paid football executives in the country. Dont know whether he saved us or otherwise- Banks don’t normally pull the plug on football clubs because of the bad will publicity. Saw him at Stanstead coming back from some Uero trip and had a brief natter. He was pleased as punch that Newcastle had sacked Gullit. I was after tickets for the 98 cup game against man utd.I couldn't get through held in a queue So sent a fax, i got east stand lower last row. We didnt even see the pitch let alone the game, people standing up & the middle tier restricted our view. it got to 5.0 to united & we left. It was the only time me & my son have left a game early. A chap on the train had a radio & by time we got to victoria it was 3.5 to man utd.

Their fans are the scum of the earth, absolute animals and a disgrace. I will do everything in my power to make sure this happens. Ken Bates I’m guessing he said this after they smashed up the scoreboard.

If he has a bigger budget he could rotate more. His style is based on pressing with intensity, so his players will generally tire mid to late season. Be interesting to see him in PL next season if it happens. So many good managers coming to the league it's crazy.

The pressing is interesting as we are also doing that though of course the intensity level is questionable.

We played Newcastle in the League Cup 92 I think it was and at half time I got me and my mate a burger. For years he would say do you remember that time you tried to poison me with that horrible burger ? like I cooked it myself and then charged him for it. It's funny how things stick in your mind with football years later.

One of the fanzines did a highly amusing cartoon of a brute with a baseball bat “ Sorry Kev. I didn’t know it was you”

At Man City 1989 this spotty little Manc sold me a burger outside in one of those mobile burger stands ones you pushed along. I took one bite and chucked it at him and made him give me my money back it was beyond disgusting.

They used to sell a burger or sausage in a bun outside the bridge for £2.50. They were just what you wanted on a match day. I remember the girl serving one day asking my dad when he ordered a sausage in a bun “do you want onion in it?”. “Yeah” he replied “and don’t be stingy” (we’d recently had one where there was only a couple of bits of onion put on). I think there was more onion than sausage when she handed it over... made us laugh anyway. Edited April 6, 20197 yr by ForeverCarefree
