Everton have been decent recently and will probably outplay us physically. I'm going to assume Nkunku and Lavia won't feature as my hopes have been dashed the last few games. Conor will be back. Beyond that the team will likely look similar to tonight. Would prefer to see Badiashile start. Perhaps we should consider playing 3 CB's (Thiago/Colwill/Badiashile) with Cucurella and Reece as wing backs. Something like: Sanchez James Badiashile Thiago Colwill Cucurella Caicedo Gallager Enzo Palmer Sterling.

Only difference there was that the game changed after the red cards. In all 3 games we started poorly, went behind, and managed to claw our way back to level terms by half time.

Yeah so minus the 2 Spurs red cards we get spanked in the second half as our attitude stinks.

But we did the same against Newcastle and United. So yes. Who knows? Poch mentioned after today's game that United benefited from the extra day off since their previous match. Perhaps not the wisest comment depending on the outcome Sunday, since the same can be said of us going into the game against Everton.

So when we get outworked by Everton, what then?
December 7, 20232 yr Based on performance today, we really need a kick in the ass to get going. Especially away at goodison.
December 7, 20232 yr Pickford will have his usual save(s) of the season reserved for us this game. It will be a physical game, we better be mentally and physically ready for those long aerial balls and collisions.

And pretty much every game as we get a week off whilst those that we think are our equals all play midweek matches as well.
December 7, 20232 yr Author We cannot play Silva. It is asking too much after too slogs in a row. Pick the 11 that want it the most regardless of price tag or ability and hope the effort gets us somewhere. Go to a back 3, or start an actual DM. Back 3: Sanchez Disasi Colwill Badiashile James Caicedo Gallagher Maatsen Palmer Broja Jackson Back 4 James Disasi Badiashile Maatsen Ugochukwu Caicedo Gallagher Palmer Broja Jackson Or Mudryk for Jackson, cannot say which would work harder. Least it puts Jackson in his natural wide left position. If Nkunku is fit (hahaha) play him in the Jackson spot. If Lavia is fit (hahahaha) play him in place of Caicedo. Players playing in their actual positions. Colwill only in the first one because, unlike Pochettino BS excuses for everyone else, he is actually bound to be tired. As Colwill has been rank of late. December 7, 20232 yr We've got quite a decent run of games now, we need to start picking up wins. The last few games our performances have been tragic and our defence has gone back to Lampard era defending. I can understand us wanting to revert to a safe 3 at the back option but that'll just put us back to square one and we don't have the fullbacks to open teams up with that formation right now. It'll be very interesting to see what the lineup is going to be next game, I would like to see Broja start a game instead of Jackson who needs to sit his ass on the bench for a while.

(James, Silva, Colwill, Maatsen). I just can't see any positives atm continuing on doing what we are doing. Not unless it really is a write off season AGAIN.

We're in a pretty bad slump, and the results haven't been good all season. But we need to make use of the football. Can we go back to games like Burnley, Fulham, Bournemouth, Arsenal, Brentford. We only won two of those games I mentioned, but we should've won all of them and were quite clearly the better team. The football at the very least was promising but we couldn't finish our chances. At least there was some form of progress. The last 3 games have been absolutely dire, and the last 6 our defending has just got progressively worse. Going into panic and safe mode trying to salvage a midtable finish would be wasting the season completely. If the season is a write-off, we mayswell make some use of it, because who cares if we finish 16th instead of 10th? Both places are mediocre finishes in the league. The season was already a write-off before it began, people who expected a top 4 or top 6 finish were delusional. But if scrap what we're doing and start again, we'll be in the exact same place next season yet again. With no system in place, nothing, that's for me is far worse.

You and I both know that simply isn't true. The goal was to see progression in the football we play and finish in a European spot. We are still technically not that far off from accomplishing it. The way I see it we have 2 options 1. Continue what we are doing waiting for the day it clicks. Be it in a couple weeks or another season. (Potentially killing the confidence of the players) 2. Tweak the system to mitigate our liabilities in the hope we can find some level of consistency. Edited December 7, 20232 yr by Sconnie Blue

I would start with something like that too, although I think Maatsen would be more effective as a wing back then a conventional left back. And Reece for that matter. If Nkunku features at any point he should play alongside either Jackson or Broja. In pre-season games he seemed to bring out the best in Jackson for example. Lavia I would assume is more of a defensive mid so would likely slot into the position that Lesley has covered when he played.

December 7, 20232 yr For me, this team with these players has no chance. Yes, Poch may have been mess with the positions of certain players, but that's no excuse for last night's fiasco, and neither are the injuries. For 22-24 year old players to not know and not be able to make two passes and let the opponent crush you for the whole second half in your half is more than a pity. 28 shots in favor of United. What??? These players, if at this age they can't and don't know what to do, when will they be able and know? Palmer is 19 and has everyone in his little pocket, even James, who is increasingly acting like a Hazard in his last two seasons with us, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him leave given all the chaos at the club. If anyone thinks that the eternally injured Nkunku, some other stove like Osimhen will fix things, then change the sport. Call me racist i don't care but i see that Todd buys players because of their skin color instead of their skills and give them 8years contracts. This is not American Leagues without relegation , and is not Golden Globe where can push someone because of the skin color.

Which is something I should've expected anyway given it's Chelsea. Edited December 7, 20232 yr by Victor90
