At half time.
Caicedo great

Enzo  really doesn’t look the attacking 8 part. Very neat on ball but the finishing  instinct is missing in front of goal.
Paez some ok touches blazed a shot over the bar but to be fair was on right foot.

Caicedo was good. Asked to play everywhere.

Enzo poor as an attacking 8. Very, very poor.

Paez couldn’t get into the game at all.

Yes they were my thoughts pretty much. Enzo was subbed. Not even sure Enzo would be in first choice everyone fit Chelsea 11. If he was it would not be as an attacking 8.

very noticeable in the brazil Uruguay penalty shoot out. Brazil manager, Dorival Jnr,  stands on outside the Brazil player pre shootout huddle.  None of the brazilian players take any notice of anything he says. Bielsa is at the centre of the Uruguay huddle. He is telling everyone what to do and they aren't saying anything just listening.

During the match the Brazilian coach is yelling at every foul, amplifying the crowd emotions as if he is one of the crowd (which I expect he soon will be). Bielsa is squatted down focussing. After the shootout Biers solemnly walks over embraces Raphina etc.

It's an example of how some managers are in charge and others might as well not be there. The Brazilian guy  Dorival Jr just seemed completely useless to me watching the TV.

Liverpool's Nunez fighting Columbian fans after Uruguay's loss, suggested that Columbians have invaded the area for Uruguay players' families.

Nothing new unfortunately. West Ham players did the same thing after the Conference League SF win over Alkmaar last season. There have been much less violent examples in the PL too.

He was really good, up against a very tough midfield and largely kept his head during a niggly match. Kept Colombia in their own half towards the end of normal time by intercepting balls hit long to James and the forwards.

He is a different class played deeper and allowed to look towards goal, as opposed to playing high waiting for service from other midfielders and running around like a headless chicken.

Jeez, that's horrible.

The US have a lot of work to do, especially if hosting soon.

Looks very similar to the scenes at Wembley for the England v Italy Euro final so the organisers clearly need to address this growing problem.

Governing bodies - including FIFA and UEFA - have a long history of mismanaging security at tournaments. The Liverpool debacle at the 2022 CL final (UEFA's head of security was lounging in one of the celebrity VIP boxes), at least 8 killed during 2022 Afcon, and on and on. There is always a post-disaster inquiry with findings usually blaming miscommunication between the organisers (the governing body) and local authorities. And still they keep on happening. Until the governing bodies think beyond the riches they are reaping, nothing will change.

What a horrible game of football that was. The long kick off delay because of fan trouble, the 25 minute half time show, the game itself was terrible and going into extra time didn't help.

25 mins ht ? f**k that !
