I was really disappointed with the defending on the first goal 

our defence had 3/4 men standing to the right of them if facing away from our goal . I  can’t work out how no one  covered that area are noticed the yellow shirts

It's understandable, the lad about to get the assist there is Eidur's son.

It’s been shocking all the season, we’re just over scoring opponents. It’s either the defenders or the keeper letting us down, the midfield does not provide much cover other than Caicedo, and he’s no Kante. I think that we’ve been quite bad defensively. Maresca has to do a lot of work but we definitely need to improve keepers and defenders if we want to be a serious contender.

Perhaps they are collectively confused by the set piece positioning they are instructed to take up from the preceding corner kick, as per whatever the new set piece guy is telling them ? certainly very slow to get back into "normal" shape afterwards ... 

Badiashile isn't covering himself in glory either though, he's playing them all on onside, it's a lack of team cohesion and communication. He's in his position fine enough but he's not on the correct line. It's a bad look for everyone tbh, everyone is just clumped together marking nobody.

100% agree. On the whole we are like Tottenham under Ardiles. The plan seems to be they score 4, big deal, we can score 5. Hugely entertaining, yes. Gets the blood pumping, for sure. But probably not a sustainable model for success against the top teams.

Our set piece defending is still horrendous, and you would think that is the first thing that could be ironed out.
