October 3, 20241 yr Realistically, it looks like Maresca has settled on his starting players. So this round of European games are practice sessions for our second string so they’re not completely cold when called up to the first team in case of injuries or suspensions. Saying that, some players looked more ready to step up than others. Defence looked very suspect and wasn’t shielded particularly well. Once Genk realised we had a soft underbelly, they just ran at us and looked like scoring every time. Just as well we had enough goals in the bank.

After that, every goal we scored everyone put their torches on 😂 So that is where that came from. Some of us was wondering what the hell was going on 😆

Tbh, Acheampong didn't look anywhere near ready the last game he came on. George too, but he looks slightly ahead of acheampong atm. Good game to keep the subs ticking and ready to fill in when needed. But defence and Jorgensen need to up their game a bit more. I think the team lacked a leader more than usual yesterday. Disasi needs to organise his def better if he is to remain captain of team B imho.

I know he's been appalling for a long time but we need some sort of return from him and I thought he did OK tonight. Maybe he can play himself into a new headspace and start making better decisions. His pace is electric but he doesn't always know how best to use it. Just maybe if we persevere he can slowly turn a corner. That's all he has is pace. He shows flashrd of dribbling but for the most part he can't beat a man in tight spaces. Guy is not good and I can't see any underlying quality.

October 4, 20241 yr First 25-30 minutes of the first half were very good in my opionon. We were very energetic. confident and were very aggressive on the ball. The most important thing was missing is to finish with the goal and players must understand that, we have a very good competition now and every chance for them is to prove. We started the second half in the same way, conceded by a crucial mistake but then we always been there with the ball and offensive game. I can be happy with the game, but I do expect more from some players and we should not concede these type of goals.. Brighton two gifts, yesterday two gifts. Felix has to deliver something different and show why he deserves to play, same as Mudryk. They are good ballers but they need to deliver and make numbers. COME ON CHELS!!!
October 4, 20241 yr The main thing is we got the result. We should have scored more goals, but at least we are creating those chances. Defensively both goals conceded were poor, especially their first goal. We have to remember this team isn't our main XI, so they will equally need to adapt to the changes to the squad each time they play. I'm proud of all of them to be honest, and it gives the fringe players confidence & minutes, and allows rotation of the squad. Compared to where we were squad wise a few years back, the future is very bright indeed. Edited October 4, 20241 yr by Malcolm9

I don't think we can afford to. Loan him out? Possibly but that doesn't guarantee him minutes and his value could drop even further. I'd given up on Cucurella. He can go around defenders with his pace and did so on few occasions last night. He's coming to a new culture from a country at war and who knows how that is effecting him. All I'm saying is our options are limited so we may as well try to coach some form into the guy and make use of him midweek. This may change but for the moment he is helping out on the left.

October 4, 20241 yr So Conference League is going to use the League Table format as well? Thought I read it wouldn't.

I wish I did edit it Mod, I couldn't believe my eyes, it was from the Youtube highlights at 2:32 That's some of the worst defending I've ever seen, we seriously can't have a backline of Disasi and Badiashile together at the same time at any point in the Premier League this season. We lost 6-0 to Arsenal the last time we did that, they are a recipe for disaster. Disasi still has his uses and he's playing at RB, I can cut him slack, he's proven he's decent next to a good partner, but Badiashile needs to go ASAP.

I think he's decent at CB and streets ahead of Badiashile who has a stinker every game now!

October 4, 20241 yr Both Maresca and Dewsbury Hall say that was the best atmosphere they have heard at the bridge.

Badiashile is in the right position in that still you showed, but Disasi (RB), who you've absolved from any criticism, is at left back, and has left a huge hole on his side where the 5 Gent players are ! Veiga is also well out of position for a left back, seeing as he's popping up between the two centre backs, which helps allow the cross. Perhaps they are collectively confused by the set piece positioning they are instructed to take up from the preceding corner kick, as per whatever the new set piece guy is telling them ? certainly very slow to get back into "normal" shape afterwards ...
