Hiddink for me, the only one who really has club experience and he had some success with the clubs and countries. Grant, well if we want to see success we will have to give some time and could forget winning anything this season, same goes for Van Basten.

Nor was Ruud and Luca but there are plenty who would take them back.

that's true- I wouldn't be opposed to ruud actually...

but I think we need a manager capable of winning the league and I've seen nothing from klinsmann with germany or van basten with holland to suggest they should be candidates...

I also think we need someone who is good in the transfer market... judging on what val has said I'm not sure mvb would be great there either.

also, luca and ruud came through the ranks so to speak- they came from being chelsea players, and arguably had more leeway/time (although given the nature of their dismissals, maybe not).

Well the new manager should have and produce a team that has :

Ruud's pass and movement

Vialli's team discipline (no more shouthing at any match offical every 2 minutes)

Jose's training and preperation

Tommy Doc's willingness to give youth a chance (look him up in the history books QAZ)

Lead by the new Jimmy Greaves

If someone can deliever all the above I would be very happy

I'll give it a go.

Dr. Frankenstein! Paging dr. Frankenstein!

It's not an even poll.

It's like asking "whose a better footballer, Christino Ronaldo or my Grandmother?"

I'll go with your grandmother because she doesn't dive. Or does she? icon_rolleyes.gif

I want someone who not only has the footballing pedigree but also the guts to stand up to Roman. Otherwise, it would be pointless.

I thought I'd be over it, but I clearly am NOT!

Cheers,

Butch

The problem is that the man (or woman) who actually stands up to Roman will be the man (or woman) who won't get any funds and it will be that man (or woman) who will have a very tough job ahead of him (or her).

So do we want someone who stands up to Roman and doesn't get what he (or she) needs or do we want someone who actually is one his (or her) knees blowing Roman so that he (or she) can get what he (or she) needs?

Very disturbing the way you put it Moos, icon_lol.gif but in all seriousness I would hope that the incoming manager would stick to his principles and do what is best. If there is a personality conflict, then so be it. But if the new manager would have to do whatever Roman wanted then we're better to stick with Grant and forget about anymore success. I think ultimately what caused Jose's downfall may have been his lack of diplomacy (+ other things that irked Roman and made him impatient).

Really, I cannot see having a "yes-man" manager bringing us any success whatsoever. He'd have to be a heck of a man-manager, as opposed to great tactician or great team builder. And he'd really have to de devoid of any ego whatsoever. Now, tell me how realistic it would be to expect to find someone like that.

Cheers,

Butch

A new manager who is hungry for his self as well as the team, who has a proven track record that this league and hopefully that this team is not above him, as much as I would like Ruud and Luca back, I give you Mark (sparky) Hughes.

The ideal man for Chelsea Football Club now in its current situation would be Marcello Lippi. Lippi has had the most successful coaching record at club and country level in the last ten to fifteen years. Then again, he would be a strong character and whether or not Roman would want such a person would be debatable. Lippi has been at the forefront of Italian football for sometime now and has an unquestionable record. We won't want a team builder now as much as we would want a restorer and institutor of solid, unquestionable character. Who would be willing to follow Avram Grant who has a questionable record at top level? The Chelsea players may only be tolerating Grant for awhile to help to save face for the club and gloss over the problems at all levels now.

It may be a matter of time (maybe end of season) until Grant, the stop gap throws in the towel and buckle to pressure. What outstanding record does Van Basten have at management level? The question answers itself. It would be great if measures can be put in place to solve most of the problems. The season is still not even midway and we may not be able to immediately able to correct the damage done but could, at least salvage a little pride.

In order for anything meaningful to take place Roman would have to swallow a bit of his ego and do the right thing. He should choose a man of character, a known winner and without doubt one who will MANAGE free of any interference but with a precedent now set will this really happen in haste?
