Nibs
Can only be Carvalho. Could be the first 100%. If anybody else feels one of the other players deserves MOTM after that they really have some explaining to do!!
Alan
Riccy C easily, while people all around him were losing their heads *glares at Beletti* he kept his.
BlueBeard
Well, I gave my vote to Carvalho - he was the only one who played the full 90 minutes who did well. Belletti, Malouda, Lampard, and I hate to say it, but Bridgey too, were all crap. Mikel did well when he came on, as did SWP. Essien was OK, and Joey improved in the second half (he honestly couldn't have got worse). To be honest, I believe the Man Of The Match award should go to the ref - one of the best refereeing performances I've seen in a long time. Lofty
Essien did ok as did Mikel after he came on, Carlo was lucky a couple of times, even Maka had an off night. Got to be Ricky Carvalho though. No contest.
The Moos
Bluebeard, I'm sorry to brake this to you but the ref was a giant c*nt. No votes to him from me. As for voting on our players I will give it a miss today. Nobody deserves to get a vote. Even Riccy was bad. Mikel tried when he came on but he didn't do enought to convince me. sweet waffle
Riccy gets my vote, he stood out head and shoulders above the rest who really need to look at themselves after this no-show. (Cech not included as well as Carlo, Mikel and SWP for that matter). I didn't think tonight was going to be an easy game but I was at the very least hoping we'd put some effort in. The first half was just embarrassing and the second half wasn't much better. I must add that I thought Malouda was getting kicked all over the park tonight along with a few others and whether that had any bearing on the performance I don't know. We just never got started. I wasn't very happy that ITV kept on telling us the "good news" from Anfield, it exasperated the situation of watching us stutter to perform. Let's hope that there the last 8 goals the Scum score this season in Europe.

Moos you must have slept for about 89 minutes if you thought the ref was a c*** and and Carvalho was bad??? Both had great games. Are you the Drogba voter as anyone who gave Drogba MOTM for that performance must be completely of their rocker.
loz
Fully agree Nibs - the ref had an exccellent game and Carvalho should be allowed to line up the entire team (Cech and Mikel apart) and kick every one of them in the arse for making him have to work so bloody hard tonight. if you can't see Carvalho had a fine game Moos I have to wonder what on earth you see when you watch football. The only thing I could maybe criticise Carvalho for tonight was the fact that the defence was at sixes and sevens and maybe he needed to boss them around a bit more in the absence of JT. ianwatkins
Ricky by a mile, no one else apart from the ref should really get a mention. I wll say though who set up the best and probably only 2 chances we had all night
Chippy
Riccy by about a mile, has he been out of our top 3 in the last 30 games he's been involved in? Malouda Makelele and Belletti had bad games, Cech, Essien,Carlo, done ok, Joey ok second half, Mickel I thought came on and steadied things quite well under the circumstances. looked really disjointed tonight, glad to come away with a point. have to give credit to Shalke, they were right up for it. lets hope we learned something from this apart from we miss JT more than we thought. big thanks to Besiktas for adding to tonights misery, no credit to the scousers obviously

Are you the Drogba voter as anyone who gave Drogba MOTM for that performance must be completely of their rocker. No, I didn't vote at all. Ok, saying Riccy was bad was perhaps a bit harsh. Perhaps the rest of the teams inept performance clouded my judgement. As for the ref however I stand by what I said. I think he was awful. Okay, perhaps he wasn't the worst I've seen (after all I've seen Poll) but I think that he was really bad. Take the situation when the Schalke player pulled Joes shirt and brought him down. He let the play continue (which I have to give him credit for) but when the play had stopped he should have handed the schalke played a yellow card because he tried to stop us counter attack. And there were quite a few incidents when he blew his whistle even though the team who had suffered the foul still had the ball and could play and perhaps create something. ianwatkins
Although I thought the ref generally had a good game, i thought he was a bit lenient with his yellow cards on some of schalke tackling from behind, especially on Malouda in the second half. Gem
I agree with the majority, Carvalho the only one who can come out of this game with his head held high IMO. Although Essien did well at RB, apart from that one chance he let go through.

Paul Seery
I gave my vote to Ricardo Cravalho. Of all the players that played last night against Schalke his performance was the one that stood out the most and was very good at keeping Schalke at bay.
