Valerie
With his way of unintelligable way of talking he's sure to give inspiring team talks. The referee will have to guess about Rio's choice of heads or tails.

g3.7
he's trying out different players for the role and to be fair ferdinand has done well for man united as captain, and has been in the best form of all the english defenders for over 12 months. it's hardly a shocking decision IMO. obviously I think jt should be the permanent skipper- he's clearly the best leader we have. unfortunately I still think he will pay for mcclaren's mistakes when the position is given out on a permanent basis. e!!iot
I hope France batter us. I can't get over it, he's the biggest wally in the squad next to Cashley, i thought my brother was merking me when he told me. Imagine JT's face finding that out. Poor guy. I've decided i don't care for england anymore.

loz
Capello has come in and seems to have taken the approach that the slate is wiped and that alll players are on trial. That is a fair enough approch to take and I think we are kididng ourselve if we think JT has been anywhere near his best since Capello took over. ON those roudns it is not at all surprising that JT has lost the captaincy (whether that is permanently or otherwise). My personal hope is that it spurs him on and we start to see the JT of old - something that would be massive for us as we try and close the gap on United. ethicalstrategy
I agree. It's far from certain that JT will even be in the starting line up tomorrow based on current form.
bar24rat
Not a big surprise and there is a very strong chance JT will not be selected to start. He has lost his dominance against most of the strikers, Jones gave him a really hard time v near table bottoming Sunderland, some punters claim he was lucky not to concede a penalty - I don't go for this idea that the ref would have given a foul outside but not inside the box-JT was mauling Jones. JW is in much better form, 2 goals v Blues in CC and the league helps his case. JT's better performance over Adebyor is too late, he's lost the scoring plot lately anyway. JT will have to get his act together
g3.7
I don't believe JT has lost anything- injuries take time to fully recover from and so does reaching top form. in any case, a player of his type usually doesn't peak for a couple of years yet. the guy is brilliant, and has set his standards so high that any imperfections in his game are judged extremely harshly in comparison with, say, alex. witness adebayor totally cast aside- a player taller who is taller and faster reduced to nothing. what was that about form and class? p.s. his scoring is totally irrelevant IMO, and hi lack of goals is more down to the quality / predictability of our set pieces anyway. loz
I agree that his scoring record is not really relevant however, within the context of this discussion, so is talk of form and class. Form and class is relevant to a club manager but of little relevance to an international one. As Chelsea fans we have often questioned Gerrard's seemingly invincible position within the England team irrespective of form and, in my opinion, rightly so. However now the boot is on the other foot and, for me, it would be hypocrisy to take the hump if JTwas dropped. Purely on current form I couldn't argue with Rio and Woodgate getting the nod ahead of him.
