Some songs on Top Gear compilation CDs aren't too bad, but it really depends on the mood you're in. Blasting down the open road or relaxed and happy 'driving in a tv commercial'?

I also like:

Motley Crue - Kickstart My Heart

Manowar - Hail and Kill

Alias - Perfect World

among others... ball.gif

Despite the album's name, Atomic Swing's A Car Crash in the Blue is good record for driving. Here's the first song from that album:

Their second album(Bossanova Swapmeet) is good too. Hoodoed in Mamou is perfect for those dark autumn nights.

Then there's this Finnish song:

The lyrics are about this lonely passenger on a bus and the song came on the radio when I was(surprise, surprise) travelling on a bus. I had been sleeping and I woke just as the sun was starting to rise, there was a bit of frost on the ground and on the bus windows and this song came on the radio. It just fit the mood perfectly. And it's a great song as well.

I tend to like more energetic songs when I am driving rather than mellow tunes and I also like to listen to them loud (so only really get to do it when I am in the car on my own)

Examples (but far from exhaustive list) are:

Joy Division - Shadowplay

Jeff Buckley - Eternal Life

The Smiths - London

David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust

The Velvet Underground - Rock 'n' Roll

Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone

Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter

James Brown - Papa's Got a Brand new bag

The Beatles - While My Guitar gently Weeps

Neil Young - Rockin' in the Free World

The Who - Baba O'Riley

Just found an old mix tape that used to get played in the car and on my Walkman. Hmmm, let's see...(the songs are randomly on the tape, not in the order I've written them down here)

Crack Hitler, Malpractice, The Gentle Art of Making Enemies and Ugly in the Morning by Faith no More

Wish, Mr. Self Destruct and Big Man With a Gun by Nine Inch Nails

N.W.O., Just One Fix, TV II and Jesus Built My Hotrod by Ministry

Electric Head Pt. 1 and More Human than Human by White Zombie

Seems like I've mellowed down a bit during the last 10+ years. A lot of aggression on that tape... icon_eek.gificon_lol.gif
