Posted May 19, 200816 yr just seen it on sky sports news...they interviewed the groundsman and he admitted that it was a surface belonging to an average championship club...steve mcmahon had taken a walk on it and said it was dangerous...I could see lots of bare patches from the shots they showed and apparently it's really uneven too...well done uefa...giving it to moscow priced fans galore out of going and now we'll have a crap game cos the pitch is sh*t too!
May 19, 200816 yr The only reason I can think UEFA chose this venue is the influx of 'new money' ploughed into football eminating from Russia. Supporters and players safety, travel costs, logistics/accomodation, visa issues, stadium capacity/suitability have all been ignored in selecting this venue IMHO
May 19, 200816 yr i heard somewhere the next final is gonna be in italy. if thats true then uefa are an absolute joke. considering whats gone on over there the last 3 or 4 years then this proves that uefa are corrupt or idiots. can you imagine if this final was being played in italy. it would be carnage.

May 19, 200816 yr I think one reason why Moscow was given the final is because of the progress the Russian club football has made after the bleak years after the fall of Soviet Union. If the pitch is so bad, why did they insist on laying a new pitch instead of playing it on the artificial turf that they usually have at the stadium? I prefer games to be played on real grass, but if the real grass pitch is horribly uneven and in terrible condition, surely the artificial turf would make for a better surface to play on?
