we always seem to have a problem with these buggers, hopefully the more attacking style we now use will put them under a lot more pressure and stofle their attack.

Not a 4-3-3 or a 4-1-4-1? ;)

they;re playing reasonably well are the villa

its always tuff against them hopefully we can take all 3 points we look more of an attacking side than in previous games against them

Not a 4-3-3 or a 4-1-4-1?

No definately not. I think we will go with a 2-2-1-2-2-1.

Scrap that :D

With Drogz out I want to see us go with a 4-1-2-3

Bring in Sinclair & Di Santo.

-------------Cech

-Boswinga-Alex-JT-Bridge

-------------Mikel

-------Ballack--Lampard

--Kalou-----------Anelka

------------FDS

Subs:Carlo,Ivanovic,A.Cole,Paulo,Malouda,Sinclair.

Depending on injuries I see it pretty much as normal:

-------------------Cech

Bosingwa----Alex------JT------Cole

-----------------Mikel

----Ballack--------------Lampard

--Kalou/Cole----------------Malouda

--------------Anelka

Subs: Cudicini, Bridge, Ivanovic, Belletti, Mineiro, Kalou/Cole, Di Santo

If either JT or Alex can't play then I guess Ivanovic would come in. Ashley Cole should be fit and hopefully Joey Cole too.

The main worry will be upfront/ out wide but we will just have to see. Drogba is a big miss but we have coped OK without him so far.

I really hope Di Santo and Scotty get a chance this weekend, a lot of changes will probably be made with injuries, hence the number of X/Y

Joey Cole (fingers crossed)

Malouda/Sinclair

Anelka

Very unlikely, but you never know...:D

If he doesnt start, I think Di Santo gets a healthy run out at the weekend. If Nico is clearly ineffective, I think LFS doesnt hesitate to alter the shape of the attack around Little Franco

A sensible post!

Anelka Worry For Scolari

Sat 04 Oct, 08:09 AM

Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka has emerged as the latest injury concern for manager Luiz Felipe Scolari ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash against Aston Villa.

Didier Drogba is out with knee damage and Scolari was banking on Anelka to lead the attack against Martin O'Neill's high-flyers - and he is still hopeful of the France international featuring at Stamford Bridge.

"He has a little problem with muscle spasms," said Scolari. "He did not train on Friday but I think he will train the day before the match. He has 10 assists this season, and we need him to make it 12."

Elsewhere in Scolari's squad, Deco, Ricardo Carvalho and Michael Essien are also out and four other first-team players are carrying knocks.

Scolari is hopeful of those four - Ashley Cole, Joe Cole, John Terry and Alex - facing Villa but it meant only 15 players trained yesterday.

That group included Miroslav Stoch, Michael Mancienne, Scott Sinclair and Franco Di Santo, with those youngsters now competing for places on the bench.

A lack of numbers, particularly in attack, has highlighted the importance of landing Robinho before they were pipped by Manchester City on deadline day.

"At the time I spoke about Robinho, that he is a fantastic player and is something different to the players I have here," Scolari said. "But he is at Manchester City. Now, he needs to play there."

Scolari still believes he has the squad to sustain a title challenge but admits it is out of his hands if players get sold.

He insists he has no problem with concentrating on coaching and leaving transfer matters to chief executive Peter Kenyon.

The former Brazil coach will recommend players for Kenyon to target and which players he wants to remain at Stamford Bridge - but the club have the ultimate say.

"The club says stay or don't stay, because they hold the contract," said Scolari. "I am not the boss. I am not the man that pays the player. I am an employee."If they want to sell A, B or C, they are the boss, not me. My job is the technical situations. All the people understand this.

"I give my opinion - it's better not to sell this player, or it is better to do this."

Scolari also revealed how his prayers were answered when fears were eased over Drogba's injury this week.

He added: "I prayed because Didier is part of my family. All of the players at my club are part of my family.

"When I saw it, I asked my God to look for this player because he worked hard for three months to play. He started once. I think he listened and gave Didier a chance to play next month."

I read that story too and I have mixed feelings about it.

Cliche coming up.

My brain says I hope Anelka isn't injured as he's our only experienced striker at the moment.

But my heart wants him to be injured - only for the weekend however - to give Di Santo the chance he deserves!

Come on Franco!

Seconded.

I feel the same in the case of Alex, I wish Ivanovic is given a run in. But I have doubts over his ability to control the likes of Carew.

I'd much rather see the rock that is Belletti at right-back, and Bosingwa, who showed on Wednesday that he can't defend in midfield.

Since when did Belletti become a defensive rock? Belletti and Bosingwa both have defensive weaknesses however Bosingwa has the pace to make amends or his errors.

Does look a promising line up, but I think it's asking a lot of LFS to play Franco AND Sinclair. Not a bad idea though ;)
