BLUENUT
Wenger just never came back from the 'voyer' comment from Jose - he became a nervous wreck after his showdown's with the special one. Arsenals financial struggle with the new stadium has added to his woes and buying power. The funny thing is they thought they would dominate football for years after they went a season undefeated. How long ago does that seem to Arsenal fans? Mr Wenger does also seem to forget, or ignore, his initial sucess at Arsenal was down to the back four and keeper he inherited - Dixon, Adams, Keown, Winterburn/A. Cole, Seaman, he added Campbell to the mix but since then they haven't had a defender of any merit. - Lauren / Senderos / Almunia - Total footabll = total bollocks, you can't win anything if you can't defend!! They let bottom of the table Spurs score 4 FFS - for all their grace going forward - you won't win anything defending like that!!! Picking a 2nd rate side when you haven't really got the squad leaves the Arsenal fans pointing toward Wenger after the weekends result. 3 years withoiut a trophy, or a decent challenge for one, has Wenger really got a job for life? When the fans turn, so will the chairmans attitude!
bar24rat
Teories will exist a-plenty; but why can't Arsenal defend the ball into the box. Two Delap howitzers into the area was their undoing. Somebody is concentrating too much on pretty football. Defend first, attack next from the Clough school of success. Not so long ago Chelsea was having similar problems with defending. We went from letting in nothing to shipping goals from set pieces in particular. With the man mountains we now have, particularly when Alex and Drogba are playing, and including that mini man Mikel we now have a big advantage in the bx. Unfortunately it did us little good in the CC final. Were we lucky that Delap was unavailable on our trip to Stoke! We didn't win with ease. I don't rate Wenger particularly highly as a manager, I think he does make good signings but that is also down to the scouting networks Arsenal have developed- not necessarily down to him, but to his backroom staff. I feel that Wenger, when he first arrived was a breath of fresh air in that his analytical, professional and scientific approach made him stand out from the other managers at the time but I can't help but feel that he has stood still while others have passed him by. Wenger cannot organise a defense and the psychological approach he has to his team is not working. They lack organisation, leadership and professionalism and yes, while you can blame this on the youth of their team, that is no excuse for not providing experienced players for them to play alongside- all of the reasonably experienced players are injured at the moment. Appointing Gallas as captain over Toure was a serious mistake, and his mistreatment of Flamini is another. They are not winning, they are not even playing good football. Something is wrong at a mental level in the team because the talent is clear to see. Wenger was once the radical of the EPL, now resembles a rigid conservative, unwilling to change and adapt his methods to the present game

Lofty
From Sky: Boss blasts Stoke 'cowards'Gunners chief left fuming by tactics Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has accused some of Stoke's players of deliberately trying to injure his players. Gunners stars Theo Walcott and Emmanuel Adebayor both picked up injuries during last weekend's 2-1 defeat at the Britannia Stadium. The duo will miss Wednesday's UEFA Champions League clash with Fenerbahce as a result with Walcott having the better chance of returning against Manchester United this weekend. Wenger was unhappy with Stoke's physical approach and has described those who injured Walcott and Adebayor as 'cowards'. Courage "For me, you need to have more courage to play football when you know somebody is tackling you from behind without any intention to play the ball, with only one intention to hurt you and I can show you some tackles where I can prove what I say," said Wenger. "The one who is tackling is not the brave one, for me the brave one is the one trying to play football. "Do you really feel that [Rory] Delap tried to play the ball when he tackled Walcott or that [Ryan] Shawcross tried to play the ball when he tackled Adebayor off the pitch? "All the players have been injured deliberately. "For me, the brave one is not the one who tackles from behind, but the player who tries to play football. That's the coward." The Frenchman was also adamant it was not the first time opponents had hurt his players with reckless challenges, with the badly-broken leg Eduardo suffered against Birmingham last season the most notable example. Defender Bacary Sagna was also hurt against Stoke and had been receiving treatment on an ankle injury in a bid to be fit for tomorrow's game. Wenger added: "Do you want me to tell you the players we have lost here? Diaby, deliberate foul from behind, Rosicky, deliberate foul, Eduardo, deliberate foul. Now we lose Walcott, deliberate foul, and we have lost Sagna - deliberate foul on him. "There is only one intention when he is tackled and that is the ankle. And you want me on top of that to sit here and say, 'Yes sorry we are not brave'?" ,I've said it before and I'll say it again. Backbiter
Regarding Whinger's comments on Stoke's fouling, can someone post me a link to his outrage at the deliberate, nasty, late, over the ball tackle that broke the England captain's foot and put him out for a couple of months last season? I think the player's name was Eb- something, and I have a vague recollection that he plays fr a London team.
