Complete overreaction on the Gerrard front again.

Hungary were absolute dreck, and Gerrard still went ball-chasing every five minutes. His first goal was the result of numerous Gerrard-esque attempts on goal from outside the box when better avenues were available. He tries it so often that one of them has to go in, especially when his opponent is Crystal Palace reject Gabor Kiraly.

So Bitter!!

If Lamps had scored those two goals last night and a Dipper fan posted something like you have I'd think what a serious case of sour grapes.

Might not like the bloke but you have to acknowledge they were two good goals. Without them we would have lost 1-0!

I think other than the goals Ploks bang on with Gerrard. He was supposed to be playing in the hole behind Rooney but was everywhere but there. He was running around like Roy of the Rovers and when the ball did get forward was hardly ever in the right position to receive it. He simply cant play to orders and is a liability at international level, albeit one who can score a belting goal once in a while.

Lets be honest though dkw, Gerrard could have scored 10 last night, and in his post-match interview advised the world that he has discovered a cure for cancer,
and yet you would still find a negative somewhere!

:D

I thought both goals were excellent.  The second one in particular.

You don't have to look very hard, Nibs.  he's fecking Stevie Gerrard!  That's a negative the size of Birkenhead, not easy to lose, and even dicky with his masturbator's eyesight would be able to spot it.

did anyone notice Capello last night? i found his lack of response to England scoring remarkable. he simply remained on the bench, absolutely immobile. in fact the only signs of life i saw were a lethargic wave of the arms when a not particularly crucial decision went against England.

I cant stand him, so yes he does have to do a hell of a lot to prove himself. Adversely some people seem able to completely ignore his indiscipline which causes england massive problems because he runs around a lot and occasionally scores a belter.

And he's sharing a midfield with Joe Cole this year at Liverpool, they'll be all over the place at times, probably two of the most indiciplined players in England at the moment.

Spot on. Did anyone read that report about the German students who plotted England's downfall in the WC?

Quote

Three potential weaknesses were identified. Firstly, England were predictable in playing the ball through the middle to Frank Lampard and Gareth Barry, while it was also noted that Steven Gerrard drifted infield and so left space on the left.

“One of the things we look for is how a team starts their attacks,” explained Nopp. “For England, the ball went very often through the centre of midfield to Lampard, Barry or Gerrard, who had moved in from the left. Gerrard had a lot of action in the centre although he should be the left midfielder.

The match graphics proved that he ignored his proper role throughout the tournament. It's comical that this weakness in his game is obvious to everyone, but he escapes condemnation in the press.

I know that representing their country is a great honor and they seem to love to do so, but part of me wishes our boys would all retire so they could focus on just the club.  However, the other part of me likes seeing CFC boys dominate the lineup (although we're down to only 3 right now).

To me, it looks like Gerrard is the only one who gives a sh*t.
