Hoilett

Featured Replies

I hadn't really heard of this guy before this season but watching match of the day every week it seems as though all of Blackburns attacks revolve around David Hoilett. He looks very tricky and loves to take his man on so at the age of 20-21 IF Blackburn go down could he be worth a shot so long as he can be got on the cheap. He's also a right winger or he can play on the left and cut in.

Ive seen this player as well, whilst being tricky he's overly inconsistent at present however he could mature into a good player but isn't there at the moment.

Has he actually been linked with us, or is this another one of those pointless threads when transfer rumours are thin on the ground?

He has always impressed me when i have watched him, although as it has been said he seems very inconcistant. Would be cheap but still a gamble, seems a good player though. I can see him turning into a player the same sort of level as N'Zogbia.

Good young player. BUT, he plays very similar to Kakuta. Can play out on the left and likes to float in behind the strikers to make the final pass. That is exactly what Kakuta does, but Gael hasn't been given a chance. I just think Gael could come in and take the Malouda role right now. If he is a consistant sub like Malouda is, his confidence would go up.

Kakuta's been given a chance at Fulham and Bolton, with far less pressure to succeed than it would have been at CFC. He failed at both.

I don't doubt his natural ability, but I wonder if he'll ever develop into a top player. Hopefully, a stint in his homeland with Dijon will help the matters.

How is one or two starts and 10 min here and there a chance? He wasn't given the same chance that Danny was when he was at bolton. The question I ask my self sometimes is what kind of a player would Gael be if he signed for a team like Blackburn or a French team like Lille instead of us. I say he would have been given a lot more time and would have became a better player by now.

to say he has failed is a tad harsh, wasn't realy given that much playing time although this could be down to his own attitude/acceptance at the clubs

I'd say the lack of games hes got is a fairly reasonable assessment. If he can't even get into a team at the bottom of the league, when he's supposed to be one of the brighter prospects, how's he going to get into our team?

That's not to say we shouldn't at least give him a shot, I just can't see it happening. He'll just be another youngster we spent a few million on who disappears off to some smaller team, never to be heard of again.

Well you're answering your own question. Why was Sturridge given an opportunity at Bolton and Kakuta wasn't? The only possible reason is that he looked poor in training and wasn't up for it and those couple of starts were probably a direct result of it.

I don't think Hughes and Coyle asked for him because they didn't like him. They were clearly interested but it didn't work out. My guess is that Kakuta lacks mental strength, when things don't go well he's giving up instead of battling through. Still, maybe I'm wrong.

Sign him up, sign him up!

He's fantastic in FIFA

Seriously though, I've always been impressed when I've seen him play for Blackburn, and with his impending departure on a free, I think we need to snap him up now, especially because the team he's been linked to the most is Spurs. I just wish he was American and not Canadian, stupid Canucks! :laugh2:

Judging by that youtube clip, he is a fine prospect. Plays left wing. Has pace, flair, vision. Does he ever score goals? There are no goals on that video.

Remember, he's playing in a piss poor side, so if he can impress there, that bodes well.

Blackburn have confirmed they will listen to offers this window, as he's a free agent this summer. Spurs are the favourites at the mo.

If Spurs sign him for peanuts now, I can guarantee in a few years time we'll be rumoured to be making a 20-30m bid for him.

Its only recently that spurs have had some great success with getting players.

Spurs have properly developed two highly touted youth players theyve bought: Gareth Bale and Luka Modric. And theyre expensive. While they have been huge successes, there is a long list of players they have purchased on the way up that never really hit their potential. Huddlestone and Dawson have been good. Sandro looks like he could come good. But amid that lot are Aaron Lennon, Giovanni Dos Santos, John Bostock, and a few others who joined Spurs with alot of potential and never reached the heights promised.

Not especially young (although looks like a teenager) but Piennar. Now looking for a move away, dodged a bullet there.

I'd say three: Sandro is fantastic. Also, I'm not sure it's fair to say John Bostock hasn't hit his potential. He's a year older than Josh McEachran. He certainly doesn't look like the super talent he was supposed to be but it's still early.

We won't go for him, but we should.

Agreed, but I guess I'd rather see him go to Newcastle than Spurs. Gives us more of a chance to buy him down the road, although he won't be as cheap as he is now.
