African Nations Cup

Featured Replies

The African Nations Cup kicks off on the 22nd of January, Our Ivory Coast boys Drogba and Kalou are in Group B with Sudan, Burkina Faso and Angola, While it looks very straight forward for the Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso will present the biggest challenge in the early stages. ( Chelsea also have a 16 year old player calledBertrand Traore who is selected in the in the Burkina Faso squad. Might be interesting to see him play, Someone for the future maybe?

Group A has Senegal with some interesting players to watch like. Demba Ba and Mohamed Diame, from Newcastle and Wigan. Also Moussa Sow from Lille.

Group C has Morocco who have players like Adel Taarabt from QPR and Marouane Chamakh from Arsenal.

Group D has Ghana who have allot of notable players, too many to mention. One of the tournament favorites.

I think some games are being screened live on ITV4 for those of us in England, though its only 5 games I think.

The deal will see ITV screen the group

game

between Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso on January 26th before screening a live game from the quarter final and semi final stages.

They will also have

live coverage

of the final and highlights programmes throughout the tournament which runs from Saturday 21st January until Sunday 12th February.

Have to support Ivory Coast for (primarily) Drogba - what a servant for his country both on and off the pitch.

Agreed. They haven't won it since 1992 either, so that would be good for them, especially with the ongoing hostilities in the country.

Drogba, Yaya, Gervinho, even Kalou...Ivory Coast should win, but they should've won the last couple of years as well.

Ghana will win I'd say. Also now that Essien is back, would it surprise anyone if there was a mysterious injury to a squad member and he was called up as an emergency replacement?

"for sale" ?

More like 'free transfer'. He's out of contract in the summer, and it's highly unlikely that he will have time for contract negotiations while playing at the ANC. So unless he gets an extension he won't get a penny when he leaves in June.

Yeah, it was just the way you worded it made me laugh, you missed out a "the". :laugh2:

Gervino is terrbile!

Drogba and Kalou did quite well.

Not sure how strong the elephants are, the midfield was quite poor at times I thought
