  3. That’s how I see it. FWIW I think he is a very good player and I’m very happy with this signing. Other than the FFP angle the price isn’t that important to me, I’m more interested in getting value for money and quality players. Everyone laughed at Declan Rice’s price but let’s face it as much as most of us despise Arsenal he’s worth every penny. Also we’ve blown much more than £117m on players who haven’t provided value. Delap for £30m isn’t some sort of bargain, and we have wasted money on Garnacho and Gittens (£100m), all in the same transfer window, so if we buy someone like Morgan Rogers who I believe definitely improves us then I’m onboard with this signing. He is Villa’s best player and gobbling up other Premier League teams best players is how you improve your team, a tactic that has proven to work for decades.

  5. And then to rub it in, we played them a few weeks after this and he put in a worldie of a performance when they beat us 3-1 and had Costa in his pockets all game.
  6. The way we played that game - our game management - was atrocious. I cannot get over it. We brought on defenders to park the bus and it was the short bus of ideas - the short bus with all the retarded kids on it [sorry - i meant "challenged" or something polite]. We were so close and if we had a proper manager and if we had brought on Saka and Cole Palmer - maybe Trent? Foden? Players who actually like to play football - players who are not ball adverse. sigh. shakes head. we finished 3rd which was much better than i thought we would do - but still.

  9. Still remember that time we tried to sign him, Stones even handed in a transfer request, only for Everton to get up on their high horses and reject the move, recall Martinez singing “money can’t buy me stones” (as in The Beatles song) in a presser, only for them to sell him to City the season after anyway! 🤦‍♂️ Oh what could have been..
  10. Can people stop with this pay as you play nonsense?
  11. I think the perfect option if possible, would be a basic low salary, and a pay as you play big bonus to reach the sort of money he's on now. His type of experience is essential with our squad. If it could be a rolling 1 year contract too, all the better.

  15. Let's stick with Disasi, Fofana and Badiashile. I wouldn't be surprised if they are not going for him anyway, they already have so much dead wood to shift in that area.
  16. I think Lacroix is a decent enough player and at 26 he is more of a grown up and we need that - especially at the back. BUT they are now asking/wanting £70m!!!???! £70 million and well, why not just walk away from that. For context Guéhi went to Citeh for a reported fee of £20 million. I mean obviously time left on contract, etc. AND it is not my money so I try not to be too bothered . . .but when you buy a top quality player, he must be a top level player. Perfect would be a nice option at that price. . . .and Stones on a free would be a more sensible option and we keep looking for the perfect CB as we wait for Josh to grow up.
  17. I thought the same but he was asked this in an interview on the last day last season and he made a point of saying that he was fit all of last season, he just wasn't selected.
  18. The good thing about this move is he can play anywhere amongst the front line. He is a no.10, but majority of his goals is him drifting from the left and cutting in and scoring. His second goal against United at Villa Park this season was majestic. He has all the attributes you want and helps out Palmer because he is prepared to do the defensive work rate. His defensive work rate is phenomenal. And he is still only 23, just about to turn 24. So well in his prime. Yes, the fee is a lot but this is Villa's best player we are talking about who have won a trophy and qualified for the UCL and is English. So the fee was always going to be high. Compare to the other transfers you have got. Anderson who joined City for similar fee. Tonali for £100m. Fernandes for £80m odd and West Ham got relegated, so that sounds about the going rate for the best player for a team who wins a trophy, in the UCL and is English.

  21. Is this guy who just let in 6 against England? Constantly out of position, slow and clumsy and riddled with errors. No thanks.
  22. Today

  23. People have got to stop getting hung up on the fee. Those numbers mean absolutely nothing nowadays. 50M for Torres was eye watering 10-15 years ago. We spent 60M on JJBG without even a blink last year. Times change. Look at the absolute bottom line, we were going into another PL season with Pedro Neto, Alejandro Garnacho or Jamie f**king Gittens as our LW options. We now go into the same season with Morgan Rogers, arguably the best English player in the PL last season. It’s a monumental upgrade and only makes us better as a side. Absolutely buzzing for this one personally. Adam Wharton would be the cherry on the cake.
  24. Speaking of false 9s, Liam Delap is English, but we could lose him to Ireland if we don't lock him in to England.
  25. The transfer fee is crazy so I hope he's worth it. If Alonso is on board with signing him then I can get behind it. They have a massive inferiority complex.
  26. Sorry. Accuracy is paramount. Barco is 2' 5", the slap on the back of his head cost him an inch. However, my point remains.
  27. The third place is flattering though we do not normally win this as we normally give the wider squad a chance. I think yesterday was TT's attempt to regain some credibility and he let something slip, in the last match he played Rogers rather than Saka as he had a feeling about Rogers, so Saka was actually available against Argentina. He could have brought him on along with Rashford and Watkins as soon as we started retreating. No excuses for me. However, nice to beat France with some decent goals and Bellingham's was the pick.

  29. A palate cleanser after last night. Curiously, they were the opening act at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival. Well, maybe not curiously. They were pop.
  30. Lokkong at tge prices for players this sunmer, I reckom everyone has over paid by £30m, so it is what it is. Not a massive Rogers fan, however this is at least a signing that is attempting to improve us on the sporting side. 3421 with Palmer and Rogers behind Pedro I think is very exciting, also got Estavao to rotate in that too. 4231 with Rogers lw is less exciting for me, but still a big upgrqde on what we have had there since probably Hazard, although Willian and Pulisic did okay. I think it will have a positive 3ffect on Palmer though, and lets be honest, if Palmer is firing at 100% he is one 9f 5he best in the world. Hopefully get a centre back or 2, Lacroix, Ordonez, or Diomande. Then left wing back I can see Neto or Quenda playing there, if we cant get this Pep for a smaller fee.
  31. Think his is a done deal and his destination will be either Saudi or maybe even City. I also think the Gusto transfer out is all but signed.
  32. If we have agreed to buy Rogers at a 117m then surely that is Enzo gone. BBC SportMorgan Rogers: Chelsea agree £117m deal for Aston Villa m...Chelsea have agreed a club record £117m deal to sign England international midfielder Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.
  33. i think we will get 50 mill for Gusto, most top clubs can wipe their arse on 50 mill these days, it matters not. Hes not up to it and can be replaced, hey ho.
  34. An absolute disasterclass last night, so baf every ten minutes he played likey knocked £10m of his valuation, we would now need to pay a club £20m minimum to take him from us.
  35. They probably found it lying on the near by beach! 😀😀
