What makes you so sure it was a game changing decision? Do you seriously think had they kept the original keeper then Holland wouldn't have gone through? And why not? the ability to take a pen =\= the ability to win a game over 90ms + ET. Costa Rica are the lowest rank team in the competition -- if he is such a tactical genius then why didn't they win it normally? A team with the likes of RVP, Robben, Sneijder and the like aren't able to do so? And Krul only saved 2 pens out of 20. Hardly brilliant himself is he? Doesn't matter. We're talking about this game in that Costa Rica should've had penalties. They get them as they should do then LVG would be criticised Again, it was down to the fact the all the players are very good at taking penalties. They should easily get most of the credit -- not LVG for making a sub that made little difference from what would have happened. edit: actually, can't be bothered to carry this on.

He's only quality going forward -- so good going forward that he may in the future work better as a winger rather than a LB. He's ok defensively; there may be a possibility of developing his defensive game but atm looks as if he's more of a winger Shaw is better than him defensively too, and if we didn't go for him than I doubt we'd be too keen on Moreno (yes prices come into it as well but still)
