Azpilicueta is the starting RB, no questions about it. We don't go out and get one of the best LBs in the world just to have him or Azpilicueta sit on the bench. Terry will retire after this year and that would allow Ivanovic to move to CB, which is his more natural position. Our defense is in incredible shape for the next 4-6 seasons.

We will have two strikers (or players who can play striker) on the bench. Drogba and Schurrle. A bench of: Ivanovic Zouma Ramires Schurrle Drogba Looks good to me!

After the season he had with us last year (most of the time coming off the bench), and the World Cup he had (including the World Cup winning assist), there is NO WAY we sell him for 25M. If we do sell him we are gonna ask for David Luiz money, and Athletico just cannot afford that much. I agree with a lot of people and want Schurrle in the starting XI with Hazard and Oscar.

If DiMaria does end up going to PSG, I have a strong feeling Cavani or Lavezzi will be in a Chelsea kit next season. PSG will definitely have to sell one of them to meet the FFP and it seems like we've been rumored for those two players for a while now. Maybe Jose still has some RM inside information and knew that DiMaria would be leaving, hence another reason we sold Lukaku.

PSG made a spot for him when they signed him. Look at Barcelona and Real Madrid. Both of those teams have 3 superstar striker options and all of them play on the field at the same time. If we did sign Cavani, I'd love to play a 4-3-3 or a 4-4-2 something like this Courtois Azpilicueta - Cahill - Terry - Luis Matic Fabregas - Oscar Hazard Costa - Cavani

Most people aren't worried about Costa getting injured because he is thought to be our best player (which he most definitely isn't). Most people are concerned because we spent money on a legitimate striker to produce goals (which we haven't had since Drogs left after the CL Final), and if Costa gets hurt we're back to where we were last season. We cannot rely on Hazard, Willian, Oscar, Fabregas, Schurrle and Salah to score the majority of our goals. No team who is successful relies on their attacking midfielders to do that. If Suarez got injured last year, Liverpool has Sturridge who was just as deadly as Rat Boy. When RvP got injured, United still had Rooney. Aguero got hurt, Dzeko, Negredo and Jovetic all stepped up. It's almost a requirement nowadays to have two or more competent strikers. We just have one now.

Jose also said that Ba would have a spot on the squad next season. I wanna say he said Mata wasn't going anywhere too. Jose is a master at misdirection, and mind games. That's one of the reasons he is one of, if not the, best managers in the world.

So I'd love Cavani, but does anybody think that maybe Lavezzi might be a better option to go for? I know he is 4 years older than Cavani, and isn't an out and out striker, but he could be used at a variety of different positions, and would be cheaper than Cavani.

Like others have said, this would make me forget we made a bad decision with selling Lukaku to Everton, but it will never happen. On a side note, if there is any team in the PL that I would have wanted to see Romelu go to, it would have been Everton. I like the group they have put together, and I like Martinez. The fact that they just extended Barkley and still have Mirallas, McCarthy and Coleman who are all young and talented, adding Lukaku to the mix. They could be a team who can steal points from our main rivals for the next couple of seasons.

I'd say we flip the money we get from Lukaku and maybe add a couple mil of our own and go after Bony or Jackson Martinez. That of just open the checkbook for Cavani.

I'm not sure, but that hasn't stopped the Tottenham from inquiring about him. I mean if he is fully recovered is he really that worse of an option than Torres and Drogba? I'm really just hoping Lukaku isn't going, but it sure looks like it is inevitable now.

How about Jay Rodriguez (English) to replace Lukaku if we sell him?

If we are getting rid of Lukaku then Jose is not as "Special" as his nickname makes him out to be. I'm really hoping this is just Twitterverse bullsh*t again.

This is the only way I would be okay with letting Lukaku go. I think Barkley is gonna be the real deal in a couple of seasons. He is gonna be the next Lampard, Gerrard or Giggs.

ESPN is reporting that we are gonna bid £30 million for Miranda! LMAO! Now I know that they are full of sh*t. No way does Jose bid that much money for a 29 year old CB who will start on the bench. And even if they weren't gonna start John Terry, Ivanovic or Zouma would surely get the start rather than Miranda.

It was too good to be true. Jose is not stupid. He barely used Torres last year so there is no way he will have him as the second striker behind Costa. I still think he will go into the season with Costa, Lukaku, Torres and Drogba (mentoring players like Lukaku and Bamford). Then in a couple of seasons we will have a Costa, Lukaku, Bamford strike-force, which will be one of the better one's in the EPL.

There is no way we are going into next season with just Costa and Torres. I am really hoping this is all a bunch of bullsh*t. BUT, if he does leave, what options do we have? Loic Remy, Jackson Martinez, Bony, Balotelli, Cavani? I can't think of anybody else I'd really want over Lukaku.

The thing about that is since Azpilicueta was playing at LB, we still had a competent LB in Cole who could jump in when needed. Luiz was capable of playing both CB and HB if he had. I wouldn't have been as worried if Kalas hadn't been loaned out. That would allow Kalas and Zouma to backup the CBs, Bertrand to back up Luis, and Ivanovic to backup Azpilicueta or the CBs.

This is what I'd like to see more than Pogba. We are gonna be relying on Ivanovic, Zouma and Bertrand to cover in case one of our back 4 gets hurt. That definitely makes me uneasy.

At this point I feel like we shouldn't spend the money on Pogba. I love him but I think we have a pretty balanced team right now. If we want another DM we can use Van Ginkle.

I'm actually more concerned about who will back up Azpilicueta at RB. Unless we will use Ivanovic as a backup to both RB and CB. I think our Defense will look something like this, next season. LB: Luis (Bertrand) CB: Terry and Cahill (Ivanovic and Zouma) RB: Azpilicueta (Ivanovic OR ???)

So several news articles have been published today which say that PvA is "Done Here" with Chelsea. To be honest, I haven't seen much of him play, but for being on the books with CFC for 7 1/2 years and only getting 2 first team appearances, I don't blame him for wanting to leave. Let's just hope Van Ginkle makes the squad this season and doesn't leave like this as well.

I'm starting to think that we tell Athletico and sadly Filipe Luis, "Thanks but we're done with your shenanigans." I know he wants to be here, and that is absolutely admirable, but like axman said, he can always wait his contract out and move here on a free transfer next summer. Now if we still are going after a LB, I have fallen into the "Ricardo Rodriguez" boat, after seeing his performance for the Swiss in Brazil.
