according to eurosport atletico madrid is close to sign him

Torres could join @Atleti in coming days. #Atletico have spent several days in London negotiating his possible return. (Eurosport)

Chelsea asks about 16 million Euros for Fernando Torres transfer, a figure that #Atletico are trying to reduce. Discussions for Torres have also involved defender Miranda, but#Atletico insist #CFC will have to pay his release clause. (Eurosport)

Am sure most of us would not give a toss if Atletico get him for less than 16mill Euros. Even if it is 6mill Euros there would be a massive celebration on here lol!

Gotta be too good to be true.

I thought the best we would get was a free transfer and pay 50% of his wages.

If this story is true, then someone is holding a gun to the head of the Atletico president's head.

That said, I wouldn't funk with Roman either.

Will be the biggest sigh of relief EVER if he goes and a massive lift for the Club all round ... hope there's some truth in this ???

Given Atletico's great track record at finding strikers, I find it hard to believe they'd be interested in Torres. If it is true then I'd start to wonder what they see that we don't.

Guys, we are stuck with him for another two seasons. He wont leave because he is on massive wages with us and wont get that anywhere else.

Two more seasons and then we are free of the biggest mistake in our history!

This would actually be more exciting than any singing we make. Sad to say but it's true. Torres is nothing more than a $50 million burden at this point.

Let them have him for free. I'll drive him to the airport.

That would actually cost us £15mil-£20 mil in amortorised transfer fee. That £50mil we bought him for have been spread out on his 5 year contract and we payed just 1/10 of that the first year. Good news is we would get rid of his wages though.

As his transfer was before FFP it has nothing to do with it I thought.

Chelsea and Atletico hold talks over Torres return

Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are in talks about Fernando Torres making a sensational return to the Vicente Calderon.

Eurosport Spain sources have revealed that the two clubs have spent several days in London talking about his possible return.

Chelsea are looking for a transfer fee of £13m for the player they signed from Liverpool for £50m four years ago, but Atletico are trying to get that fee reduced.

Atletico's chief executive Miguel Ãngel Gil Marín has spent the weekend in London discussing the transfer and will return to Madrid on Monday where he will continue negotiating the deal.

Chelsea are believed to want Atletico Madrid centre-back Joao Miranda and are trying to negotiate a price for him within the Torres discussions.

However, Atletico have informed the London club that his buy-out clause is €30m (£23.7m) and they will need to trigger that if they want to sign the 29-year-old Brazilian.

Chelsea's interest in Miranda contradicts a statement made by Jose Mourinho over the weekend that his club were finished in the transfer market for the summer.

Chelsea have already signed Diego Costa and Felipe Luis this summer from the Liga champions, while goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who spent the last three seasons on loan with Atletico from the Blues, returned to the club.

Torres is considered a club legend at Atletico Madrid after progressing from the club's youth system to be their star striker for a number of seasons.

He scored 91 goals in 244 games for Atletico before moving to Liverpool in 2007.

Atletico sources also told Eurosport Spain that the club are ready to announce two more signing this week in addition to Torres.

The players were not named but the sources told Eurosport they were "important names that will be a statement of intent to fans."

You have a point but they also signed David Villa last year who's just moved to New York.

Can't see this happening personally but it's what dreams are made of.

Maybe it's in Torres best interest to take a pay cut and go and prove himself again at athletico, he does this he prolongs his career and opens up the possibility of big wages in the states in the future. Him staying at chelsea and rotting on the bench won't leave him with many options when his contract expires.
