Jose was sacked 2 months too late. You could tell early on, despite what the pundits were saying, that this wasn't going to be a "this will get better in a few games" kind of thing. It wasn't getting better. We actually spent some time near the top of the form table under Guss, but we were left in the position of needing to barely drop any points to get back on track. The season ended in September unfortunately.

This is why we can't have nice things.

We really shouldn't need to spend that much. Just fix the defense and CM. The biggest myth is that we have a bunch of mid-table players who Jose, through his genius, made better. Let's take the spine, Costa, Cesc, Matic, Oscar, Terry, Courtois. Given what you knew of these players' abilities and their history before last season which of these players played better than that expectation? None, they were known as great players, and had played great in the past, and played great last season.

Doesn't sound like Mikel, he's a tidy safe player who calms a game down and protects the back 4.

That's the funny thing, we go on about saying how spineless and pathetic our players are for getting Jose sacked and we need a clear out. We didn't mind too much when Drogba, Lampard, Terry, Cole ect. were doing the same. The only difference was this time the manager was sacked 2 months too late to salvage the season.

On the bright side; one game closer to the end.

Spurs and Leicester don't have loads of great players, they have a couple of standouts and a hard working team supporting them. Their managers also spend time forming a team instead of antagonising everyone 24/7.

That's what nearly 3 years of Jose breeding attacking ability out of you does. But hey at least Terry and Cahill were well protected for a whole season.

Our defence was terrible last season too. Without Matic we'd have shipped another 20. No idea why we didn't invest.

Rondon has been really been really good this game. Wouldn't mind him here as a back-up. Holds up the ball better than anyone we have.

If Willian is our best performer then of course we have problems. Even two years ago if someone had said in the 2015/16 season Willian would be your best player, I'd take that to mean we had a dog**it season then.

We won the league because Jose ran Matic into the ground who saved our pitiful defense and midfield time after time. Hazard is a lower centre of gravity version of Willian without the cool afro and just as brain dead.

Good job he didn't play today and only players that turn up against quality opposition played. Go on Mikel my son!
