  1. Plus he described their Nth London neighbours as "the club of my heart" & "Arsenal, a beautiful club". Wonderful "Club of my heart" I'd guess he's part of the managers' strategy of having 2 players for each position. Issue with him is, in my view, I'm not sure he's a solid enough character not to cause problems when he's not starting many matches, or for that matter are his new teammates in his positions.
  2. Sounds like an AVB team talk, is that you Andre?
  3. I wondered what it was, other than football, he must have been doing in those 4 months he was here.
  4. I thought she looked a bit stressed in the photo's leaving court, whereas she seemed calm going in. Didn't see her and the new hubby coming out the same way they went in I.e. Hand-in-hand Maybe there's a 'disclosure' or two at the hearing that they weren't expecting?
  5. It would a decent move to keep him here. He'd probably do no worse than RF? In my view there's no point in spending a whole heap of money on another striker at the moment - We've an interim manager, we don't know who will get the job beyond this season. If we buy someone, the next guy through the revolving door might not fancy him. We're probably not going to be relegated, so why not give him a shot at the title. Remy can't stay consistently fit/can't get on the pitch. Give him the gig, starting on Sunday for me.
  6. It's a game of opinions and what's one mans sausage, eggs, chips & beans is another mans poison. He still makes the odd mistake, bordering on the over-confident at times. A season next to JT, on the pitch and training ground would have done wonders for him and as much time away from Martinez, who I think is a defensive liability of a manager, would benefit him as a player. He's also been having to play recently with a centre-half brought in by Martinez who looks lightweight, and has been doing bits of his jobs for him. Alot for a young centre-half to cope with, in the unforgiving league he plays in. He's as good as I've seen comparatively and the player you get now, plus the potential for improvement, sells him to me. Would I put him ahead of Zouma, yes I would, but to buy as a partner for him in the medium, long-term. If you could guarantee keeping the players, we'd be set for 5-10 seasons at centre-half.
  7. Chelsea fans used to sing it quite a lot in the 1970's, as did Man Utd's I believe.
  8. The fella is class, he's already a very good defender allied with great confidence with the ball. Passes well, can carry the ball towards plus doesn't get bullied by forwards and has good pace. Personally I'd go all out to get him.
  9. In hindsight it would have been better if Atkinson had done nothing, at least then there would have been the possibility of it being reviewed and retrospective action being taken.Current England captain though, not much chance of that. That sort of thing happens with our captain.
  10. He didn't have "a dig", he did say they did well. if you watch games you'll see lots of clubs tactically and in a pre-meditated way, getting ball boys to delay the return of the ball to the opposition if that team has momentum and also assisting their own team by slowing the return of the ball to their players.Everton have done this for years, other clubs have caught on. You can see the change in attitude dependant on the state of the game in progress. Timewasting is now, in my opinion, one of the bigger issues that the governing bodies in football have to deal with. Referees don't deal with it and it'll get worse until they (FA & PL) decide to get it addressed.
  11. I have been told that he has a degenerative injury (knee, I think), that prevents him from playing too often and for too long. Maybe that's why, he's content with his bit part role?Shame, if true. His strike rate seems good, he's a decent finisher in my opinion.
  12. In this case, the Internet does not lie. Ivanovic looked around to see where the rest were and saw no one, looked sad and embarrassed. Watched it from Row D, in person.
  13. If two of three of our other midfielders could replicate his application, concentration, work rate and desire to win, to go with their talent - we'd surely not be in the league position we're in. On Saturday he was the only player I saw, that showed how angry/disappointed he was when we went a goal down. Player of the season, thus far, for me - by a distance.
  14. And If Carlsburg did juries....................................only if they happen to be your shirt sponsor
  15. Thank god for that, when I read the thread title I thought West Ham were moving in!!
  16. You'll have to get in front of me first, that's exactly where my ST seats are ;-)
  17. Yep, delighted for him and his staff. The absolute best for us and probably the best there is. Sunday (and Monday) will be the time for the fans to give him the respect he deserves. Would be nice to get a few minutes of constant "Jose Mourinho's" sung at the end of the game, kinda like we did at WBA on Monday night with "we've won the league". It'll be interesting to see what Lollichon does if Cech leaves. Cech was rumoured to have got him the gig at Chelsea soon after Jose left Chelsea, he was Cech's previous coach in France.
  18. That seat will be close to the corner, on the East Stand side. I sit in Row B of the MHL and it's the second row, where I am.
  19. C/League Final night I believe. From left to right the bloke with his head in his hand is clearly having a breakdown, Cameron's got all confused again about who he supports , Obama looks like he's singing 'Carefree', Merkel's got a face like she's been hit in the face with a frying-pan, bloke next to her is clearly a B/Munich ST holder - he's so shocked his syrup's about to fall off the front and the fella behind him is going to give him a Bruce Lee karate chop. The two blokes in front must be German politicians, cause it's a time of extreme crisis for them they're sat there doing what politicians do best, namely look worried but do nothing
  20. There are occasions where the heart must rule the head, at home to 'them' is one of, if not at the top of those occasions. Let's show them what being Champions and having the mentality of Champions is about - Clearly demonstrating what they so clearly lacked last season and the 23 before that! Personally I wouldn't let Solanke anywhere near the game if Skrtel is on the pitch. He's (Skrtel) wreckless with a nasty streak and could do damage that might harm Solanke both physically set him back mentally , better to wait for the next game and then begin to offer a few of the younger players some minutes on the pitch.
  21. 2005 for me, it set the tone, mentality of the club and it's longer serving players which inspired the success that followed. The fact that it was against the red s***e, Gerrard's own goal and Jose shushing the fans was icing on the cake. 2007 was a close runner-up though. Real eventful game.
  22. No it doesn't, it means I'm not as myopic as regards Oscar as you are. Tell the whole story, so did Costa, Hazard, Fabregas Don't leave the ground and tackle, no sending off - Ref had the red card out within 15 seconds of the tackle, he'd made his mind up without the help he got afterwards You don't rate him, that's OK, however he offered more than most last night, until he was stupid and got himself booked. I think that forced Jose's hand as the ref could well have tried to even things up by sending one of ours off for something soft.
  23. In sequence: I think he probably did He wasn't alone in that ability Zlatan did most of that for himself.
  24. Whatever people might think of Oscar, I thought that last night we were better balanced and offered far more going forward with him on the pitch. The second half performance was very poor without him there. The kicking away of the ball that got him booked, might just have cost us the tie? Silly thing to do at the time and perhaps even sillier 2hrs later.
  25. No, not always. It's situation based, take as one example the CL group stage and we're 4 points clear with the last game of the group stage on a Weds night, with a PL game on Saturday lunchtime against your main title chasing rival. You'd possibly rest a few regulars and sacrifice the CL game for a fresher team on the Saturday? Again and hypothetically, we're 9 points clear of the 2nd team in the PL (I wish) with two games to go with the 2nd leg of the CL semi-final to play and the overall result all to play for. Do you rest players for the CL semi, as the result in the league at this stage is not critical? So no, not always. However given the stage of the CL & PL right now they are.
