Mentality in extra time was concerning, surely there was enough encouragement in the last 10/15 of normal time to show there was a goal there for the taking. Mentality issue running through the club at the moment, getting rid of him doesn’t solve it. Doesn’t mean he’s blameless though, is certainly complicit

Out with family on Sunday celebrating mother in laws 50th birthday watching the game. She's a lifelong Liverpool fan. Surely I wouldn't ruin the occasion by over celebrating a Chelsea win, would I?

Does seem ideal for the glazers doesn't it? Get paid for a minority stake in the club, let that person fund and be responsible for all the contentious decisions a football club needs to make (The stadium, transfers, managers etc) but ultimately still be able to control the distrubution of dividends and any other way they have been benefiting from the club previously.

Seems a weird one, they threw out a project to get him by sacking nagelsmann but are seemingly now getting rid of him to move to another project in Alonso (or at least the chance to get him). I still think he has a place high up in football, whether he is one of the very elite is debateable. Think he'd suit Liverpool if they fancied it, think there would be some fan push back though

Such a great watch/listen, really puts the players side of football into perspective. He really just enjoyed playing the game and going home and enjoying time with family and friends. I think its something at least personally I tend to forget. Whilst you'd love for someone to eat, sleep and breathe your club and do anything for them to win, it's their lives at the end of the day and their job doesn't dictate it all. I also hadn't ever considered the impact of Covid on his recovery from injury and how badly that would have set him back. Seems significant considering the amount of abuse he was able to stand in the prem. Also liked the comment on the supposed Kroos drama, just seems like an all round decent bloke.

Wouldn't make huge sense for him to move, but if he does where does he go? City have Haaland, Liverpool maybe if they want to fund their new manager. Arsenal would completely ruin his Spurs legacy, Newcastle maybe but arguably a bigger risk than us. Maybe back to spurs? Think you'd be nuts to say anything other than yes to him if we could make it happen. Finances would have to work though and Bayern aren't exactly known for giving away bargains.

He has grown on me massively, he has definitly improved as the season has gone on but I think I just like that he seems to have a bit of personality about him. Probably isn't at a level that he will be in the back 4 if we return to former glory, but he has stepped it up for sure. Sounds stupid but seeing him go into the away end celebrating proper made my evening, nice to actually have a connection with the players on the field.

Regardless of if people think Silva is somehow to blame for our defensive issues or not, if he isn't going to be here next year then we need to begin the transition of forming a new central partnership. We don't have much to play for this year, so its pointless running him into the ground when we could potentially get a headstart on next year by establishing some understanding between defenders without Silva there. It will also give him a great chance to prove a lot of people wrong regarding his supposed bad attitude, by stepping back and leading from the sidelines and filling in much like he did against Villa.

Real good perfomance, looked really positive and measured. Thought things would get a little sketchy towards the end, which they did. But some knocks forced subs which caused a bit of chaos. Big difference looked to be that we sat higher and closer to the midfield. Not sure if thats becuase Silva didn't play or if we would have done regardless but if he has to sit for it to happen, then he has to sit. It transformed the way our midfield was able to work. Good boost going into amlost a full week ahead of the Palace game, which we *should* be able to hopefully continue to build in

We're going to play relatively well, come away with a narrow win after a tense last 15/20 minutes where we are boxed in. We then go on to get a confidence boosting 3-1 win against Palace next week and then even grab a 1-1 draw at the Etihad. Some will then predict we get a result in the final. We dont, we lose. Honestly, there isn't a correct answer. There are too many moving peices and there is too much wrong with the whole club at the moment to establish one action plan to resolve it. The managerial shift and transfer suggested above sound great, but the fact that we are naming the type of manager that we want, not a specfic name, is an indication of the managerial market right now. There isn't one name in football that you could suggest that would both a) not be a risk b) want to come to our club. Realistically, the best way forward is to establish some security within the club. Just give Poch the year, put together a transfer plan that doesn't involve ripping everything out root and stem but instead is actually crafted to enhance what we have. It may not seem like it, but I really beleive we have some very good players. We also have some awful ones. Rather than vacuuming up any young talent with no regard for where they fit into our squad, we just need to target 1 or 2 key positions of quality and possibly 1 or 2 for depth. Lets also give the sporting directors a bit more time. If there is anything worse than throwing millions at a manager to buid a squad and then moving them on, it would be giving billions to sporting directors to build a squad and then moving them on.

No one can argue that her posts are anything but disruptive and unhelpful. But a claim that they are part of a wider conspiracy and on Thiagos behalf is pure speculation

Oh sorry, excuse my humpty numptyness, I had assumed that spending your career as captain of Milan, PSG and Brazil might entitle you to be considered a natural born leader, how thoughtless of me. I bet him and Belle sit there at nights thinking of ways that can use social media to ruin pochettino and chelsea whilst stroking a cat (no euphemism) and laughing at their tank of sharks with lasers attached to their heads. Chosing Jose isn't to thug it out until the end of the season, thats not what Jose does. Chosing Jose is chosing to try and establish an restore any trace of identity is left in our squad, establishing a group of players that are working together as a unit, with an understanding of why they are doing so. Not just to post an instagram apology after each bad result. I don't think Jose is the answer, he is past his peak competing for top honours in club football. But the reality is that so are we at the moment so we could do a lot worse.

Yeah, no manager has a chance with a natural leader in the dressing room. It really is a wonder that we won anything with that pesky John Terry sticking his nose into peoples business for all those years, upsetting the dressing room by setting standards and being a model professional. Maybe Clearlake are right, lets fill the dressing room with unopinionated 15 year olds that dont care for success as long as they can go and griddy on fortnite at the end of the working day. Theres no evidence at all of Silva doing anything to undermine any manager since he has been here. Granted, Belle shouldn't be as opinionated in a public forum as she is, but there is nothing to suggest he has encouraged this or is in anyway accepting of it.

Feels like an increasingly complex situation. I've gone on the fence, for many of the reasons stated above. The eye test isn't great at the moment, stats arent either. We are just treading water and I can't see how much longer it carries on. But the reverse is who realistically improves us? There isnt a slam dunk option, most replacements would be a risk of sorts. Its not like the Hiddink years where we could just look to him to tide us over competantly until the end of the year. For me, it becomes complex when looking at what the owners can get out of making/not making a decision. Sticking with him suggests the stability they have been preaching whilst sacking managers left right and centre. They gave excuses for the potter appointment (and booting) and the Tuchel sacking but Poch was meant to be the one where they held their ground after establishing and implementing a sporting structure that had appointed him. Sticking with him implies they have confidence in sticking to the 'project' but more importantly getting rid of him would be an achnowledgement of yet another failure. But the fan base is going to get toxic real fast if the current trend continues. Cup final loss and top 8 (sigh) rivals pulling away will turn things nasty, they may see it as an easy win to make him the fall guy.

They've had a ridiculous amount of decisions since VAR actually failed and gave a decision that they didn't mean to, not just got one wrong. If managers want to put pressure on officials, I think its much more impactful on the lead up to games rather than reacting after.

I’m assuming I am the poster! Based on your response to me and free post above, I assume you’re putting last night down to being overwhelmed by the Anfield occasion? Poch seems to agree, says our away form suggests we have a mentality issue. My worry would be that cup finals tend to be quite unforgiving tests of mentality, something our squad severely lacks. I don’t think we have no chance, my original post was merely a result of the extremely low standards last night has set. Think back to the CL final against City. We’d played them a couple of times on the lead up to it in the cup and league and got results. It sets the tone for the final. Last night didn’t set the tone for anything. We always have a chance, against anyone over 90 minutes in the final. I’d like to think it’s one of the things we’ve thrived on historically. But last night exposed us, gave them nothing but confidence and sat us nicely down back in our mid table seats.

What will he achieve doing that though, managers have kicked off in the media before and it gets them nowhere. You either get mocked and ridiculed by the wider media or they agree but rebuff it because ‘Liverpool were the better team anyway’ He’d get a fine and a suspension and gain nothing but a few Twitter followers creaming that he’s ‘proper chels’ like when potter said ‘we’re gonna win the f**king champions league’. And if anyone thinks there’s some fantasy world where we end up getting a decision or two to even it up, you’ve no chance. We’re mid table, mediocre and unimportant for now.

Yeah, break it down into its simplest form it sounds ridiculous. If that’s how your seriously interpreting the argument of opting for experience then maybe you need less time on your fantasy football and a crash course into critical thinking instead. if you would have properly explored my point, I refer to the fact that Poch has come into an extremely hostile environment in the summer, the fans relationship with the owners and team risking turning toxic and he needs to first provide stability before looking to kick on. In this scenario, when you have 2 viable options for your keeper, no matter what the existing data is telling you, it isn’t outrageous to assume he would opt for the safer, known quantity of Sanchez playing in the premier league. We know he can deal with it, it isn’t a step up and he isn’t likely to sh*t the bed. Petrovic has been solid, hindsight is a wonderful thing. But he had only played in a far inferior league to the prem (unlike Messi in your ridiculous response). But say this had gone wrong, Poch went the other way and petrovic dropped clanger after clanger. Poch would be questioned 1000% more for taking the risk given our current situation.

You think it’s a wind up for someone to assume a manager has selected premier league experience over MLS experience? Id be shocked if this wasn’t a huge part of the decision? Let me just waltz into a new club, which is in turmoil and need of stability and decide to throw the currently 3rd/4th choice goalkeeper with no idea what it’s like to be a keeper in the prem into the starting 11 over someone who is widely regarded as a solid option and potentially hard done by being dropped by their previous club.
