Agree the situation has been blown out of proportion, but China is a huge market for us so our hand was forced once they weren't happy with comment. See, I hate it when people say that. It's like if we look at another position other than defence then we have completely stopped looking at a defender. We are allowed to look at multiple targets across multiple positions.

We'll be set for at least ten years though. I don't think it's that silly at all. A back three (if we end up playing 3 at the back) of Zouma, Romagnoli and Christensen will be beastly in a year or two. Terry maybe has a year left and Cahill and Ivan maybe two so we will still have experience as we look to develop our younger defenders.

I love Essien as much as the next guy (pretty sure I've had this avatar since I joined the site over ten years ago) but it would be silly of us to bring him back, even he's just back up to our back ups. I love the guy though, and I hope he finds a new club and does well there.

If we landed those three, plus already having Kante and Bats, I think we would officially win the transfer period.
