Which would you be alright with as third striker? Free to choose more than one option.

(Lukaku, Lacazette, Icardi, Bacca, etc not included as they look set to remain at their clubs. I'll start off the voting with my own choices!)

i don't see what the problem is with remy, he's kinda just there for us to use, he's fine lol

also the other options there are either too good for a 3rd striker option or too expensive for a 3rd striker, should be spending 5-10m on one at MOST at any given moment. if for some reason remy f**ks off then i'd go for bony for 8.5m, anything more and its robbery, thats it

8.5m? , 5-10m? In today's market? A tad on the miserly side, if you don't mind me saying!

Well, a third striker here is in essence more of a joint second striker as I suspect we'll be seeing two strikers quite often.

Don't understand why we loaned Traore.. The guy was a perfect 3rd striker for us with goals already at such a young age, and if we play 2 strikers he could've probably get more playing time with us than in Ajax or where ever he was loaned to.

Shame..

I said last week, we need to make a signing that shows our intent, Zlatan and Pogba are going to rip up the PL, and thats without Mkhitaryan being really used yet....

Not sure if Solanke has gone out on loan yet. Rumour has it he is in disgrace with his contract demands. Personally I'd say to him your no3 for the year, sign the contract we're offering and if you do well you've earned the right to the 50k per week your after.

Don't mind the notion of using Solanke and Bamford if Remy moves on. Diego will spend time injured and suspended again but Michy can do a job in that case and particularly if we are playing 4-4-2 the others could easily fill the other spot.

Yeah. True. Good point. Bamford in particular would have been good to see, considering he has had quite a bit of experience now.

(BTW, no balotelli? :) Imagine a manager having to manage both Costa and Balotelli in one team. It'd be enough to make them pack it in after a year and decide on another career.)

Don't think Bamford is premier league quality. Traore should have been third choice. He will get the games.

Remy cannot play once every 3 months. He needs regular football. Can we not play him in some reserve/over 21 age games so he is sharp when required?

Aboubakar for me, he is the closest to Drogba i have seen.

He bullied the Chelsea defence, didn't he, IIRC?

I think he had a poor season, though.

Would have love Ighalo, but he wont come as a third choice striker.

Not good enough to start but too good to warm the bench. we need someone younger and less developed that will just be happy to play every now and again.

If we want a back up striker maybe Jackson Martinez is worth a shout. He's currently in China where it's mid-season so he'd be reasonably fit and ready to go.

While he's lived short of his billing having watched him a few times it's not entirely his fault. He's essentially being forced to play a no. 10/ false 9 role because he's so much better than his teammates.

Absurd that we aren't using Remy as a 3rd striker, proven in the PL, already settled in the squad and has a decent goals/minutes ratio for us.

And just to add to the absurdity, we just loaned out a young striker good enough that Ajax wanted him.

And if that wasn't enough, we're looking to throw around money on yet another striker yet don't seem to be making any progress on bolstering our patchwork defence.

If Remy is able to keep fit and wants to stay, I think we should stop looking to buy the third striker. All the striker talk distracting us from fixing our leaking defence.

See, I hate it when people say that.  It's like if we look at another position other than defence then we have completely stopped looking at a defender.  We are allowed to look at multiple targets across multiple positions.

Exactly, why loan out Remy, we already screwed up loaning out Traore, the board should admit their mistake, swallow their pride and just recall him, just think Rubén is third choice striker, drink it in, it sounds awful, now we'll probably panick buy a striker, if the board are capable of doing that.

Daniel Sturridge has revealed his frustration at Jurgen Klopp’s decision to ignore him for a central striking role.

The England international insists he is ready to “do a job for the team” by operating in a wide position for Liverpool, but added: “That’s not saying I am happy to do it”.

Boss Klopp prefers attacking midfielder Roberto Firmino as the middle man in his attack, and Sturridge said: “Well, I have to do a job for the team.

"That’s not saying I am happy to do it. That’s saying I have got to do a job for the team.

"It’s a team game — if I am put in that position, I have to play there.

“When you are playing in a position that you are not used to, it is different. The way you move, the way you play – it is all different.

"You can’t play the same as you do as a centre-forward if you play wide.”

“Of course it is more difficult for me to play wide. I’m a centre-forward. In the modern-day game, you have to try and be flexible but everyone knows my best position.

“I’m a player who plays on instinct and in the middle I have clarity on movements and things that I have been doing for years. I am on autopilot there.

“You just do things because you are used to doing it. But when you are out wide, you have got to worry about different things. It’s just a different way.

“Everyone knows where I enjoy playing the most. I just have to do a job for the team.”

The England forward was also blunt when asked if Klopp had explained the idea of playing him on the right, merely uttering: “No. No.”

Worth testing the waters with a bid???
