Posted August 22, 20168 yr Sky sources suggesting we've had a £30M bid rejected by AC Milan. Don't know much of anything about the player but we aren't having much luck with these Italian clubs
August 22, 20168 yr Well it's clear we're moving on from Koulibalym in all honesty from what I've seen of this guy he isn't that great.
August 22, 20168 yr Koulibaly cat and mouse situation all over again... it wouldn't surprise me if it's BS and just AC Milan leaking something to the press so the new Chinese investors look the dogs bollocks. Milan don't need to sell and he's just 21, we need a CB with experience imo. Edited August 22, 20168 yr by the special one
August 22, 20168 yr This is turning into a very similar situation to last summer, where we spent all summer going for stones, and then panicked and threw a bid in for marquinhos. Now it looks like koulibaly is a no go, and we put in a bid for this guy. Apparently they have to pay a percentage of any sale to roma, so im not sure why we thought they would accept €10m more than they paid for him just last summer. It does seems as if panic mode is starting to kick in, its poor from the club if they arent able to bring in a good centre back, despite looking for 1 for over a year. Ive got to admit, im worried about the lack of transfers we have managed to pull off, i understand the market is very difficult, but we didnt bring in enough quality last summer, and look where it got us. If we fail to improve enough again this summer, our status as a top european club will start to look in jeopardy. Hoping we end the summer with at the very least, a new full back.
August 22, 20168 yr Sign a left back, move Dave over and make do with JT, Cahill, Kurt and Branna for this year.
August 23, 20168 yr Err no...still need another CB for next season too...agree we do need a LB or a CB that can play LB too...

I wonder if the club couldn't have anticipated that the market was going to blow up this year with all the extra money coming into english football. Instead we ended up buying a bunch of D-list players last year and hoped we could salvage the situation this year but so far it isn't looking likely. So far we have failed at trying to recruit Stones, Manolas, Koulibaly and even though it wasn't our fault Rudiger from Roma. This guy will probably be another added to that list and thats only the CBs. Very, very amateruish and excactly what i was fearing back in late june/july already. Looking all good and all with 6 points and two nice wins now but its just a matter if time before things start going south without proper reinforcements. One defender we have injured and we have no backup at all in defence. Like Ola Aina for three positions? Give me a break. What if JT gets injured now?

If we are not careful we are about to head down the Arsenal route while our rivals all march ahead of us. It's really poor from the club, unless they have 2/3 big signings in these last 2 weeks which I very much doubt.

Exactly my thoughts Turing into last summer all over
August 23, 20168 yr http://www.football-italia.net/90259/milan-awaiting-romagnoli-offer The official Milan television channel stated today that Chelsea could make a formal offer for Alessio Romagnoli and it might be considered. if we can offer 50M for koulibaly, offering 50M for romagnoli would be no brainer. zouma-romagnoli-christensen partnership for next decade Edited August 23, 20168 yr by amART

August 23, 20168 yr Make NO freaking sense, we got a Central defender around the same age on loan in Germany, now we are signing another 21 year old for 35M? It's either silly rumour or we are really that silly
August 24, 20168 yr Make NO freaking sense, we got a Central defender around the same age on loan in Germany, now we are signing another 21 year old for 35M? It's either silly rumour or we are really that silly We'll be set for at least ten years though. I don't think it's that silly at all. A back three (if we end up playing 3 at the back) of Zouma, Romagnoli and Christensen will be beastly in a year or two. Terry maybe has a year left and Cahill and Ivan maybe two so we will still have experience as we look to develop our younger defenders.
August 24, 20168 yr I'd love Romagnoli in the team to be honest, he is a left sided centre half who would compliment Zouma really well. I also think that a year playing with Terry whilst adjusting to the league would improve him. The big thing that's getting me excited if this happens is that we can have a transition where Terry Cahill and Ivanovic are replaced by Zouma Romagnoli and Christensen. With the former players easing out we'll be in a potential position to have Clarke-Salter and Tomori as squad players.
August 24, 20168 yr Keeping Christensen in Germany is just plain ridiculous. It's been explained about several times over the past few weeks. He cant come back, he's got a 2 year contract with them
August 24, 20168 yr I'm sure we could break the contract and pay some sort of small fine. Much cheaper than spending 30m on someone else.
August 24, 20168 yr I'm sure we could break the contract and pay some sort of small fine. Much cheaper than spending 30m on someone else. We can't or we already would have. You have to remember the only reason he signed his contract with us was on the basis he was able to spend two years playing in Germany.
August 24, 20168 yr And it's not just fines you risk when breaching player contracts, it's bans and transfer embargos that come into play.
August 24, 20168 yr I can't believe for the second season in a row we are seeing the same exact situation as we saw last summer. Somebody must be held accountable.
