Marc Cucurella
Kantesmini assures me he was world class in all 8 of them. All season long.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Chilwell didn't even play for Leicester when they won the league.

Marc Cucurella
I like Chilwell, he's a good solid left back and definitely worth a spot in the squad but he's definitely overated by us, he's nowhere near Liverpool or Citys fullback options and he's nowhere near as good as Reece James. Good player but LWB is certainly a position we can improve on even if it isn't a priority. Replacing Pulisic is obviously a priority, I don't think Palace would go for it but Pulisic for Zaha in his final year makes a lot of sense.

Marc Cucurella
Why are people acting Like Cucurella isn’t a better player than Chilwell? Chilwell is by far the most overated player i can remember playing for us. He's solid and we missed him massively due to not having a quality replacement but he isn't some top player who will lockdown the position for years like Reece James is on the right and that was before such a bad injury. Personally I think if Cucurella and Chilwell are competing for the LWB position Cucurella will win out. Not necessarily the position we need to focus on improving but he's top quality and can obviously play centre back too though his height may concern some and I'd prefer a Fofana or Gvavidol type signing at CB

Frenkie De Jong, not a rumour but apparently for sale
De Jong, Raphina and Kounde for Alonso and Azpi.

Who would be swapping?

It’s a bit grim isn’t it?
Udinese reserves who were absolutely awful and dominated themselves. That Udinese team wouldn't stay up in the championship. RLC crumbles under any kind of pressure and is a liability whenever the opposition attack. He's not good enough and he's not going to improve now. The only reason he's even at the club is because we can't find anyone to take him on loan with his wages but he's not a serious option for us even as a squad player imo.

Maybe people will stop talking about Loftus Cheek like he's some talented young player and not 5 months away from turning 27.

Neymar
2 goals and a man of the match performance in the cup final for Neymar today and people said we don't need him while we have Pulisic and Ziyech dropping weekly disaster classes even in pre season. Jesus wept. Not much chance of this happening now but if we ever get round to identifying another attacking target after missing out on Raphina and Dembele we wouldn't find better.

I said a few days ago Werner would be fantastic for Leicester. Would be the perfect Vardy replacement and score tons. We could offer them Pulisic to clear some deadwood and save 5/10m Other than that Colwill or Barkley possibly.

Gabriel Jesus
But it is exactly like Jesus would start every game for us. Dropping Mount into midfield and playing Jesus, Sterling and Havertz is a far more potent attacking line up than anything we can muster with the rest of our dross. Jesus may have chose Arsenal but it certainly wasn't unrealistic that we could have signed him and we absolutely should have been in for him.

We've got a new Kepa
So as I said nobody wanted him. Real considered paying his 18m release clause 6 months prior to us signing for him as a home grown number 2 (not a starter) and Zidane made the decision Kepa wasn't good enough to be a number 2. If anyone actually wanted Kepa they'd have triggered his £18m release clause in January. No one did. 6 months later we're paying 72m for him and giving him a ludicrous contract. By far the most baffling and worst signing in football history.
-
We've got a new Kepa
Because he's always been an absolutely crap goal keeper that basically won the lottery being offered a far higher salary than he ever had the talent to warrant for 7 years. Why would he give that up? He knows once his contract ends here no club on the planet would offer him more than 20/30K a week. This is his only chance to make the big money. The real question is why Marina offered some bang average Spanish Keeper that no one else wanted 170K a week for 7 years.

Christian Pulisic - Official
We saw how good he can be if the season gets stopped for months and then suddenly restarts bringing midtable defenders with nothing to play for back while missing match sharpness, not being drilled into their structures and having to play every 3 days* Let's not kid ourselves Pulisic was absolutely dogsh*t most of the time under Frank and spent the 3 quarters of the season we played before lockdown making Willian look prolific. International football is a much lower standard that the Premier league particularly in North America. It's perfectly normal for Pulisic to shine against Honduras or Canada but be easily dealt with by pretty much every defender in the Premier league. They simply show him down a blind alley and he lacks the talent or the tools to actually impact games at this level.

Gabriel Slonina
I haven't seen him play. Are we signing him because of his talent or as our next token American? Either way If it means the swift exit of our current Token American I'd welcome Slonina with open arms. If he replaces Kepa then it's 2 birds with one stone. I feel good about this signing. Or at least as good as one can feel with signing a teenage goal keeper a week before the season while our squad is riddled with holes. And there's a big gap in the market for player endorsed goal keeper gloves.

Probably not. We seemed to have forgot that one of the key components in the franchise player model in American sports is that the player has to actually be good at what he does and not the worst player on the team. There wouldn't be any Air Jordan brand if Mike couldn't shoot a jumper. I don't know the commerical side so I can't comment. If Pulisic had a massive impact on our revenue then he did what we signed him for. But it seems to me the majority of the new American eyes we attracted through the worlds most expensive mascot haven't grown to love the club but instead blame us or tuchel because the new Freddy Adu can't nail down a starting role.

That's a half truth. Pulisic was indeed predicted to be a top winger. When he was 17. when he broke through he was expected to go on to become a top talent like every 16 year old who plays senior football there's almost an expectation that players will continue to get better as they get older so playing at such a high level at a young age must mean they'll be world class by 26 . But it doesn't workout like that, Not every player is Wayne Rooney. Now Puli did show some talent when he broke through, Klopp wanted him at this time, even offered £5m for him. Which is a fair price for a 17 year old with no senior game time. However that isn't the Pulisic we signed. The Pulisic we signed had gone on to play 3 and a half seasons for Dortmund and was utterly terrible for them, he showed the odd moment but his general level was really poor, he wasn't this unpolished but extremely talented player he was just flat out bad with some Dortmund fans saying he's the worst attacking player they've had in a decade. Dortmund have had and sold a lot of promising attackers who have had mixed success at their new clubs but they all scored bags of goals in the Bundesliga for Dortmund. Pulisic didn't. He then found himself benched by 2 younger more talented teenaged wingers and couldn't get in the team. That's when we signed him. So we weren't signing a player who was improving and predicted to be the next big thing we signed a 20 year old 3 goal a season bench warmer that had stagnated for years and wasn't good enough for Dortmund who was only still mentioned at all by his own countrymen as a prospect because of his nationality. There's a million talented teenagers that don't go on to be top class players, Mceachran, Kakuta, Solanke all looked like they would be top players as teenagers but they just didn't progress as we'd hoped. It's a big step up and a lot of youth players don't make it. Pulisic was in that category. The one thing you want when you sign a young player is a clear indication he's improving and progressing each season, the fact that at 20 he was so stagnant from a footballing perspective and had been for years would have ended any possible interest in him if we weren't so blinded by the possibility of monetizing his commercial impact.

Ah the old Youtube highlights. No doubt scouts particularly like youtube highlights of 1 game a player played 3 years before we signed him when assessing if we should sign a player. But that's Pulisic in a nutshell isn't it? He's been awful for 90% of his time on the pitch, has never had a good season but people will still point to purple patches or the odd game in which he performed as an example of his talent. As someone else said a player that has 1 good game in 10 or 4/5 good games a season for 7 seasons in a row isn't a talented or inconsistent player he's just a sh*t player.

The same reason our pre season tour is in America and not India, Japan or China etc The American consumer is the most powerful in the world, the sport is rapidly growing there, Americans are known to spend big money on supporting sports teams and the vast majority of Americans currently do not support a football team and have proven to be the most individualistic people on the planet when it comes to sports. It's very common to support a particular player rather than a club. All these factors were at the forefront of our minds when we signed Pulisic. America has never had a top class footballer, Clint Dempsey, and Tim Howard being the best. The first genuine top class American footballer could be worth Billions commercially to the club that has him. Think Michael Jordan, Tiger woods, Tom Brady style hype We took the gamble that the most Hyped American young prospect would bring us commercial value. Maybe it has I don't know his financial impact and it is certainly true it got more American eyes on us as a club But as a player there's no suggestion anyone would have paid 58m or even 18m for what Pulisic shown at Dortmund, he clearly was nowhere near the level there and was already getting the "where did it all go wrong for Christian Pulisic" articles before we signed him. There's really no argument that his nationality and off the field reasons aren't the primary reasons he's here

🤣 I genuinely can't believe you're that stupid. Even given your constant drivel I really expected better. The reason we signed Pulisic is the exact same reason we and many other clubs spent this pre season in America and just as a hint for you it wasn't to give ourselves the best opportunity to win football matches.

You're not a smart guy so I'll make the question really simple so even someone like yourself can understand it. Do you think we'd have signed Pulisic for 58m if he had any other nationality? Yes or No? Bonus question - Can you recall a player who had flopped at his previous club and was benched by 2 more talented teenagers getting a big money transfer to a top club? You're one of those strange people that criticise Tuchel for not getting the best out of our attackers but ignoring his post lockdown purple patch in unusual circumstances Pulisic has just had the best 2 seasons of his career under Tuchel. Tuchel has improved Pulisic massively but the talent has to be there to perform at the top level and you can't polish a turd like Pulisic.

Why are you so obsessed with twitter? It's really cringe worthy seeing when certain old people demonise twitter. Just sad tbh. Like I've said I don't hate anyone, the difference between Pulisic and every other player at the club is that he was signed solely because fans (his own countrymen) hype him up.
