3 Imo. A top centre back (Fofana) A top quality centre mid (De Jong) And a forward with a proven record in front of the goal. It's painful to see a poor attacking performance and us desperately calling out for attacking impetus or something different up front and we bring Pulisic on to hide behind the opposition defenders. I can't think of a successful team that didn't have a goal scorer on the bench who can impact games and while we've got a lot of quality on the bench not much of it in the final 3rd. I miss Giroud.

It's not. It's on the current squad. What can Tuchel do? He can have Kovacic, Jorginho and Kante all get forward more but they're all terrible in the final 3rd. It's just not their game. It's a personel issue not a coaching issue. We lack midfielders who are going to create chances and/or score and have for a while.

The Big problem is no one in our midfield has any presence in the final third and we get no runners forward. Sterling was being triple teamed like he was at a midtable club because we got so few players up with him

Great result. awful attacking performance. All our attacking players looked below their usual standards aside from Sterling and Pulisic and only the formers usual standard is premier league level. Cucurella looked great which didn't surprise me as he's a level above Chilwell and having watched Brighton a lot last year have no idea how anyone could think he's coming to be backup or depth. He's top quality as is Koulibaly. But without another attacker and a midfielder that offers more in possession (Kante is not it) we're going to have a lot of games like this going forward this season.

If everyone ups their level every line up is good. Do think we still have a massive lack of goals and game changers from the bench

There's no point negotiating with Barca. We need to turn De Jongs head. Offer him 400K a week. Make him only want us. Promise him everything. Then offer Barca 15m on the deadline they need to sell him to register their signings.

Still think we need another forward. We obviously targeted Raphina and saw Dembele as a backup and didn't get either but it's gone quiet on that front. Mount isn't a natural winger but we have to play him there because of the system and because Pulisic and Ziyech aren't premier league quality. A pacey winger with some trickery is still a glaring necessity for the current squad. Zaha being on the last year of his contract makes him someone we should be all over imo.

Cucurella will start over Chilwell if we sign Fofana. He's not depth.

Don't know why some of the usual suspects are being critical of Todd Bohely for this deal and saying it shows we should have kept Marina like she didn't get badly ripped off for almost every player we signed under her tenure. We signed a 3 goal a season Bundesliga bench warmer for £58m We signed a lower midtable average keeper who had a 18m release clause 6 months prior for £72m We signed the Lords Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Morata and Zapacosta for over 150m We signed a striker that has proven every day for his career for a decade he isn't talented enough to play at the highest level for nearly 100m All with incredibly high wages. I don't get the spin that we lost some great negotiator and now Todd is having to overpay especially as Sterling and Koulibaly are very shrewd signings for the fees. Koulibaly in particular was possibly the only actual top quality replacement for Rudiger who we lost on a free due to Marina and Todd got him in. Cucurella is expensive but he looks a damn sight better deal than most of the trash we brought in under Marinas tenure and he's premier league proven quality. He'll be a great player for us.

Cucurella isn't coming here to be backup/competition.

We've been hustled big time here by Dave and Barca. If his reported pay rise is true 180K a week for 2 years for what Dave offers now is a very steep fee.

Barca need to sell players much more than we need to buy their players. I'd be happy to have both De Jong and Depay here. But they have absolutely no leverage if it's a deal we're pursuing there's no way we should be including that kind of cash fee and paying any wages they owe. If they want Depay and De Jong to leave so desperately they're going to have to take a financial hit not get a fair price from us.

If we need a goal late on would you rather bring on a proven goal scorer like Aubameyang or hope the chuckle brothers Pulisic and Ziyech manage one of their 4 goals a season? In his 6 months at Barca Auba scored more than Ziyech has in 2 years here and almost half as many goals as Pulisic has managed in his entire 7 year club career. Perfect signing? No he's 33. But he's far better than what we have and a cheap short term deal improves us.
