@gullit4 - Okay, I will explain my view. The people of Milton Keynes did not kill Wimbledon. They were killed by Sam Hamman, and to a lesser extent by their own fans. Hamman (a likeable muppet to many) had been hawking the club around for relocation to places like Dublin and Scotland for years. Even a move to the 'just built' Stade de France was being mooted at one point. As for the fans. The Wimbledon fans had built a fund to rescue the club from being put into recievership before the buy out by MK. Not surprisingly they (probably) realised that even if they did this, they may well have to do it again in a few months. They were millions in debt, had attendances that would have shamed a small L2 club, had no ground and were hemoraging money in the region of 100's of thousands per month. No Premiership money meant that they could not support themselves on tiny gates. The supporters group walked away. They set up AFC Wimbledon and made arrangements to buy out Kingstonian's stadium. The MK group (I think called Inter MK at the time) took on all the debt, players contacts (some of which like John Hartson were huge..he had been bought for £7m a season or so before) and were only allowed to do so after agreeing to keep the club afloat and ensure a perminent ground was built within a certain time scale. It wa said by the FA to be a 'special case' as the club was surely going to die, and Inter MK made agreements on finances and stadia that were they deafulted on would have cost them their league status. I believe that the new club went into adminsitration three or four times and all the assets were sold for a pitance, such as Nigel Reo Coker of Villa (cost them £8m) and Jobi McAnuff who appeared in this year's cup final. After 3-4 years of all this they found themselves in L2, a far cry from the turn of the decade when they were in the Prem. But they have finally turned it around. they have a great new stadium (as required) which I have been too and is very good. They have won many many community schemes especially youth and inclusion awards (to do with minorities and young offenders etc) and while gates at the old Wimbledon (at Selhurst) bottomed out at 2-3k in the Championship, they reached over 10k on a few occasions last year in L2. Now I am not saying it was hunky dory. And maybe 2-3k fans deserve their team as much as bigger amounts. But the club had long turned against the 'community'. For over a decade Merton Council had refused planning permission for the building of a new stadium, and there were no signs that this would change. They could not perminetly relocate to Selhurst (already taken :( ) and building in other areas of London would have been notoriously problematic and of course very very expensive. Wimbledon would have lost league status within 18 months..not any real argument against that.... unless a mad billionaire took over. Yes Mk probably 'should' have started from the bottom. But they offered assurences to the FA, and ensured that the league would not have to be completely rejigged with Wimbledon falling out of the league...similar to the situation that happened to Gretna in Scotland. But the people of Mk have done nothing wrong to my mind. they have a team, they are supporting it. good luck to them. AFC Wimbledon is now a manageable entity which is much more to do with the community than Wimbledon had been for many years...so maybe both sides got something out of it. Oh and the returning of Wimbledon memorabilia I think I just an attempt to draw a line under the whole affair. I could go on longer but I think that covers the most salient points.

Unfortunately for people like Crespo and Eidur, Jose liked his forwards to be big lads that could lead the line. Crespo could and should have been huge for us. Homesickness soon disapears if you are doing well and happy in your job.

Never did. Lot of misconceptions about that club. Been there a few times with mates...nice place. Robbie, Eddie and Ade Mafe. Good Chelsea connection.

He generally plays off the main striker in a bergkamp/Eidur type role. So not an imediate fit in a 4-2-3-1 but ideal for a 4-diamond-2, and I understand he also has played on the right before. If he DOES sign though then lamps must be gone unless we are planning to play 0-10-0 next season!!!

Liverpool certainly seem to be throwing their weight around...and money. Seem to be pissing people off too...which I am loving... ;)

Frankly if we get some silverware and pay the sort of football that his Brazil and Portugal side played I will be happy. OBviously I want the ECL and EPL trophies, but then I remember the club almost going under and 'Mighty' Mike Fillery being the best thing since sliced bread. We can all play the 'what if it goes wrong' game. I remember a lot of that going on when Jose arrived. All the same things...'never managed a club in EPL', 'too arrogant, will come a cropper' etc etc. He has won league titles in Brazil, cups in Brazil, taken Portugal to their most successful era in their history and WON THE WORLD CUP! So if you are down on the experience now, I suggest a good shrink. Lets not get down on the whole thing before it has even begun. Please.

Bang on. Portugal had some good players but most of them were wingers. Scolari mainly lacked two positions. 1. A striker who was quick footed and quick witted. 2. A left back. In club management he will not have those restrictions...hopefully! ;)

Yes he had good players at Brazil. So did Jose with us...does Jose deserve no credit for back-to-back titles? And going INTO that WC, his team were rated as the worst Brazil team for 30 years (or somesuch) back in Brazil after struggling to qualify, with Scolari taking over after Wanderley Lumbergo had had a mare as boss. He then came up with the 'three R's' system using Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho in the same side...a move that was derided by most pundits who thought you needed more workmen in the team. As for Portugal. Portugal had never achieved too much in football tournaments but since he took over he has taken them to the latter stages of each competition he entered with them, despite not really having a decent striker in all that time. He did have Figo though. As for Ronaldo, wellhe was a nipper when Felipe took over. So lets not hear anymore about him only doing well due to being given jobs with good playersand not deserving credit. *and rest...*

Since Ivanovic signed i think he has played 3 times for his country, none for us and once for the reserves. I actually went to Griffin Park that night, especially to see him (and catch up with an old mate). And I have to say at that level he looked a class apart. Obviouisly want to see more of him this coming season.

The centre of three behind the striker is generally a playmaking passer rather than Lamps who is a traditional 'box-to-box' runner and shooter in the Robson, Platt fashion. That said if Lamps could adjust to that (and we know he can do some lovely passing) it would be great for his career as i think that is also what Capello is after. As for Deco. He has played off the striker (an Eidur type role) but not as a lone striker. He is hideously lightweight and would get squished. :unsure: Don't right off Anelka. He is perfect for a role upfront in this system...if he gets over his (le) sulk.

He really is a twat. He must have the word 'flop' on the brain after the year he has had. Shaun continues to underwhelm, his son Bradley is caught thieving from barstaff in a club and his version of Gladiators is utter PISH! Yep..he does know about flops. :blink: The only way could get worse would be if he found out he was Joey Barton's secret dad...although for various reasons that seems remote at best! :unsure:

Jeez Qaz...CHILL!!! ;) I feel we would be like Villa now. Above midtable and with yankie owners. So Jose, Robben, Ballack etc all would not have happened and Carlton Cole could well still be at the club...after all he is CURRENTLY with a midtable London outfit isn't he. :blink:
