Being a Germany fan, it was the result I wanted. However, it was extremely difficult to root against the England players that I respect and love to see in the Chelsea blue. Lamps, Ash, JT, Joey, etc. I even felt bad for Rooney. Hate that he plays for Manure, but the man is a workhorse. Chalk this up to being a bittersweet victory for me. To all the England supporters on the board, sorry to see England exit and I hope to see a strong England come Euro 2012. It's like I said, I wish this matchup would have come later on (like the final match). To FIFA, fix the referring issue. Either add the extra refs or put replay in place. FFS, no match should be influenced the way both the matches today were...

Disgraceful. That's the only word I can say. I'm a huge Germany fan, and there's no doubt it should be 2-2. Winning is one thing, but fair is fair and that was clearly a goal. Hopefully FIFA will get their heads out of their rears and put goal line technology in place. There's no reason that ANY team should get jobbed like that. I think it'll be enough of a motivator to get England through the rest of the game. Good luck to you chaps. If anything, it's been an entertaining match so far.

Gutted that USA lost. Came down to the defense not doing it's job. Kingson was motm for Ghana. They should hold their heads up high. They put their hearts and soul into the tourney. No one can ask for more than that. And I agree that Bradley should be kicking himself. I was boggled by some of his selections.

I'd be happy with that result. :)

Loz, can't agree with you on some of this. England are not the underdogs in this match no matter how they played the first two games. At worse, I think it's even but with the youth of the German side I believe they are the underdogs in this match. Up front, both teams are talented. Say what you want about Klose when it comes to club football, but for Germany he takes it to a whole new level. With Podolski and Müller on the wings in the midfield that tend to slide up to attacking positions and Klose's knack for being able to score goals, it's a pretty nasty trio. England in my opinion has better strikers, especially if Rooney gets hot. He hasn't had a great match yet. He's due. Neither team may be an Argentina or Spain, but both have very good talent. I really think the difference between the teams is the defense. I think England has a better defensive back four than Germany. The German back line has been exposed and I could see Rooney being able to slide through. I think the midfields will be evenly matched with whoever can keep their defense disciplined winning this match. It's a shame to see these two paired so early in the knockout round.

Whew! My poor nails took a beating after Özil's goal. Germany didn't look their best but they did look better than Serbia. Congrats to the Socceroos!! Great finish for them! Congrats to the USA!! Good result, they deserve to go through. They will have their hands full with Ghana. Congrats to England!! They looked much better today. The Germany/England game could be a classic. And finally... Congrats to GERMANY!!! We live to play another day! Too bad I'm not in England, I'd go to the pub for a few pints to watch the match with you on Sunday. I'll just drink from the comfort of my home.

Nice double handball by Fabiano on the second goal. The Kiwis had a great game today. The draw with Italy was well deserved.

I think you're right Zola. Watching Slovenia play the US, this team can score if they need to. I'm not sure they'll need to score with how England looks. They had a defensive breakdown in the second half, but I would expect that to be fixed. This could very well be another 0-0 match.

I'm a hardcore Aussie fan today. I need them to pull out the win! :) So far, Japan has surprised me. They are holding their own against the Dutch atm.

That's about as spot on as it gets. SWP in just after the 60th minute. Sad to say, but this game is a real yawner for me at the moment...

I agree also. I was at one of the local establishments watching the game and I was utterly surprised and how people laughed at that thinking it was "cool". Granted, I want to see the USA do well but that just shocked me. I'm appalled at the refs for today's first two games. Alberto Unidano was horrid in the Germany/Serbia game. He was the first ref to effect the outcome of a game, and quite possibly the group. Not to be outdone, Koman Coulibaly decided to make shambles of the Slovenia/USA match. When a team is bad, they deserve to lose. No issues there at all. The ref should not determine the outcome of the game. Not like those two did today. So far, I'm struggling to stay awake for the England/Algeria game. England look slow to me.

And that's how dangerous Argentina can be. What a whooping they gave the South Koreans. I thought I would have seen more from South Korea. Chalk that up in the "wrong" category.

Yesterday was a great match day imho. Chile looked solid and got a well deserved win. The shocker of the day was obviously the Swiss victory over Spain. Did they deserve it? Absolutely. What a match played by the Swiss. Their defense is rock solid. Spain had the possession but never really had the threat. Uruguay looked great against, honestly, an average South African team. With that said, they did their job and look like a solid threat come the knockout stage. Forlan has looked brilliant. 2nd games are now upon us. For some teams, it's make or break time!

Watch the press go nuts if South Korea can pull out a tie or a win against Argentina. It might just happen...

My wife just got the vuvuzela app for her iphone. It's a little much... And yes, she uses it for pure annoyance. As far as the vuvuzelas at the World Cup. They don't bother me at all. If that's how the South Africans enjoy their football, so be it. And since it's at their home, who are we to tell them differently?

I would love to sign Ozil to the team. Yeah, he got booked for diving, but we all make mistakes. After that, did you notice how hard he actually tried to stay up in the box when he was clipped during one of his breaks? He's young, he's got talent, and he's hungry. It would be an outstanding signing (for the right price) imho.

I was listening to 606 this morning on XM radio (I'm sure it was aired last night) and I could have sworn I caught them saying that one of the major issues with the team is Lampard. They made a comment about how England was slow and if they faced a team like Germany that they would basically get run over. Did anyone catch that?

I can't wait to see this game. I actually think Paraguay pulls off an upset.

They definitely had a couple of blatant dives against Australia and I was glad to see them carded for it. Even as a DFB fan, I don't want to see that type of blatant diving. That was the one major blip on an overall great night. Best of luck to Australia. I hope they do better against Ghana and Serbia. And honestly, if they can figure it out they have a good shot against both of those teams. I was really disappointed at Serbia, I thought they would have been better.

The iPad is an interesting toy to me. I have an iPhone and I have a MacBook Pro. Both are awesome and used in my every day life. I cannot justify getting an iPad because with a newborn I don't have lots of extra cash for interesting toys. I'll spend half of the price in a month or so to upgrade to the iPhone 4 and watch my wife throw me in the doghouse for a month.
