ethicalstrategy Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Slovakia v. Paraguay Italy v. New Zealand Brazil v. Ivory Coast I think a lie in would be in order. Up just in time for tonight's potentially epic encounter where Brazil will murder the Ivory Coast.
moi Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 What do you call a lie in? It's 8.27 in the morning where you live, isn't it? As far as I'm concerned that's the crack of dawn! Better go back to bed ES!
sals Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 match of the day italy v NZ!! not quite but there a lot of hype going on over here for it at the moment. Unfortunately i have an exam at 9 in the morning and the match starts at 2am so i cant really watch it live. Media here has gotten far to excited about the draw with slovakia and some have even started saying that the all whites winning this game isnt out of the question. Rather ridiculous, not a hiding and the lads can leave with their heads held high. Brazil Ivory Coast has the potential to be a firecracker, I think Brazil is an overrated team and drogba and co really have a chance to win that match.
Zola Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 I think the Italy game will be boring. Slovakia game too! Looking forward to brazil ivory coast! Samba meets muscle. Slovakia win 1-0 Italy win 2-0 brazil win 2-1
Virosh Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 I have no idea why the Slovak coach has ignored Stoch again. Surely, he must be one of their best players. Meanwhile, Paraguay lead through a well-worked goal. The Slovaks are not at their best.
BigIzz Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 I have no idea why the Slovak coach has ignored Stoch again. Surely, he must be one of their best players. Meanwhile, Paraguay lead through a well-worked goal. The Slovaks are not at their best. I don't understand it either, I admit I'm not an expert on the Slovakian team though. Paraguay are playing very well. The attendance at this match is pathetic. The highlight for me is singing In Your Liverpool Slums alone in my apartment whenever they mention Skrtel.
The Machine Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 It is not the best of games so far the Slovakia-Paraguay game. I am quite happy that Paraguay are 1-0 up though. The reason being that I have them down for a win against the Slovakians.
Virosh Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 And they still wouldn't let Stoch get a chance. The Chelsea curse is well and truly on.
BigIzz Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 81 minutes in and still no Slovakian shots on goal. Kinda hard to win if you don't get any shots on goal.
dkw Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 1-0 New Zealand after 7 minutes, made even sweeter by it being massively offside.
ivorycoast Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 1-0 New Zealand after 7 minutes, made even sweeter by it being massively offside. The commentator said that because it came off an italian player, it put smeltz onside.
Virosh Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 (edited) HT at the derby of the day and Brazil are 1-0 ahead through an amazing shot from Fabiano. But, when the hell did Brazil learn how to defend ? They are absolutely massive at the back. In the mean time, Ivory Coast look clueless and Drogba is a shadow of himself. It is a rare sight to see such an athletic African side be completely outmuscled by none else but Brazil. Edited June 20, 2010 by Virosh
Virosh Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Also happy to see Lucio and Maicon haven't forgotten how to be shameless cheaters as well as fantastic players. And Brazil just scored after Luiz Fabiano handballed his way to a goal-scoring position. Now why on Earth do I not like them?
Arq Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 (edited) Nice double handball by Fabiano on the second goal. The Kiwis had a great game today. The draw with Italy was well deserved. Edited June 20, 2010 by Arq
loz Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Drogs gets a consolation goal. Perfectly timed run and a superb header.
loz Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Kaka sent off for a 2nd yellow with the second yellow being entitely due to major play acting by the Ivory Coast player. Brazilians unhappy as hell. Rivaldo anyone?
Sheva Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 I hope they take away the 2nd yellow, he just ran into him.
loz Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Ref had a howler tonight. Fabiano's second goal was definitely handball once and arguable twice. Kaka's sending off was farcical (the ref didn't even see the incident and reacted to the IC players reactions) and he didn't even give out a booking for a very dangerous tackle on Elano. Will FIFA make a song and dance about it? Probably not as this ref was French - if he was from Mali they would find it easier.
Mikstaw Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 FT. 3-1... Well... I thought that Ivory Coast will make better result...
The Moos Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Possible hand ball which could have been a penalty for Ivory Coast, a double handball on the 2nd goal for Brazil and then quite a few missed cards during the rest of the game. The ref was quite awful. I do however think he did the right thing by giving Kaka his 2nd yellow card. On the other hand, he should also have given a card to the git who acted as though Kaka had hit him in the head. Reminded me of Rivaldos acting against Turkey. Pathetic! After the first couple of games of the World Cup I actually thought that we would get to see some fine performances by the refs this time. There was hardly any mistakes in the first games. But since then it just keeps getting worse and worse. Even Ovrebo could do a better job ;) Before this tournament kicked off, many thought that this would be the year when a team from Africa would go far. Some even said one of them could win it. And now it looks like we actually might not get one single african team in the next round. Ghana could do it if they beat Germany, but that's hardly an easy thing to do.
