  1. Mourinho Reacts: ------------ EDIT: I had to add this because its especially ridiculous, with the riots going on at Anfield now check this post: According to them Rafa's sacking is a catastrophe on the scale of Kennedy's assassination, John Lennon's assassination, the Heysel Stadium Disaster, the Hillsborough disaster and Princess Diana's death? I'm starting to believe LFC is a danger to public health.
  2. Maradona for next LFC manager! RAWK Meltdown Worsens: :D :D
  3. Got to keep in mind that they can't be considered our direct competitors anymore. We're champions and they're struggling to stay in the top 10. If Torres wants to stay in England AND finally be assured of winning something, Chelsea is the only club that can accommodate and afford him. How we'd fit him and Drogba into the first 11 is another matter, I'm not convinced it'd even work as they're both players you build a team around. So as tempting as he is I think I'd be more comfortable with some superstars on Drog's wings - remember Robben on his day? We're actually wasting Anelka as it is. He's adapted well to the wide position but its obvious that he's hardly being used to his potential. I'm afraid playing both Drogba and Torres would result in the same happening to one of the two. Which is just a waste of talent and would cause tension.
  4. There's no question in my mind that they and Man United are both doomed to Leeds' fate, looks like the scoucers were the first to collapse though. As we all had to experience with the banks, you can't spend yourself into that kind of debt without eventually suffering the consequences. I'm amazed Real Madrid haven't suffered yet. Its just so hilarious that this is a surprise to RAWKites, the writing has been on the wall for years now. To add to the pressure, latest reports show Madrid are close to a deal with Gerrard: http://www.timeslive.co.za/sport/soccer/ar...signing-Gerrard I reckon if Gerrard, Torres and Mascherano go they'll be a relegated side. At best they'll be one of those bottom 5 teams fighting to avoid the red zone. They can't attract or afford suitable replacements and no owner or decent manager in their right mind would jump on that burning train.
  5. I saw this story too, struck me as a bit odd that he'd just inform us that he had no offers yet. Fishing for offers or something? I don't expect to see any of our possible transfer targets move until after the world cup. I have a sneaky suspicion that we're strongly considering Torres, especially with the likelihood of Rafa being sacked and if that's the case Aguero would become the backup plan.
  6. Yeah RAWK is in absolute meltdown, I've been laughing at it all morning. Warning pretty bad language: Its amazing how deluded they are. I wouldn't believe they were serious unless I read it for myself. :laugh2:
  7. Torres, Gerrard and Mascherano off then? I wonder what the bet is on Liverpool relegation next season.
  8. I said that because of this business of drawing these people out of international retirement to join the squad. Obviously Fabio has some use in mind for them - and that can't be good no matter how you look at it.
  9. Spain, Brazil, Argentina and probably Germany would tear that squad to pieces and the other top seeds bar South Africa would trouble it significantly. Found it quite hilarious that Walcott didn't make it and we have Carrick and Carragher as probable first choices. If we progress further than the quarter finals this year, it'll be because of Fabio. But that'll be my last moan about the team, squad is selected and it all beings soon so I'll get behind them like they're Chelsea's first XI in the CL. (Until it all crashes and burns of course )
  10. You know I'm not worried about any of this transfer nonsense anymore. We're not in debt, we don't need to sell, we have a team of champions which just needs refreshing and for Madrid to buy someone like Essien or A.Cole they'd have to offer Abramovich a record breaking offer - which we could use to fund our entire squad refresh campaign (possibly 3 big, young, promising signings). It wouldn't be like United losing Ronaldo and never replacing him, because we haven't got repo men camped on the Bridge's terrace. If this happens it'll be heavily in our favour simply because when you're dealing with post Abramovich Chelsea, its a sellers market.
  11. :) Watch Real put in a £80m bid for Kalou.
  12. If we had to lose Ash (with all his personal problems its not unlikely), Kaka would certainly soften the blow. He'd need time to adapt to the EPL but we have the advantage of Ancelotti's experience managing him. I'm sure he knows exactly how he should be played to provide maximum impact to the squad.
  13. Absolutely, I'd have Mascherano, forgot about him honestly. He's actually a holding player, which is where we're sort of wasting Essien at the moment. Someone call the papers and start that rumour :)
  14. If we buy anyone from Liverpool it should be Torres. None of the others bar Gerrard who can forget it on principle, is/was/everwillbe good enough for a blue shirt. We'd be replacing Cole with someone older and less talented, which is a step in the opposite direction AND helping Liverpool out with its debt. Leave the stupid signings to City and Real please.
  15. Walcott over Cole? Is this football or the 100m dash? Also, I'm daring to say it, but why is Rooney untouchable? I've not seen him work magic for England in a while now, and so far in this game all I've seen is one incredible pass surrounded by incidents where he was just dispossessed effortlessly. On the whole another drowsy performance so far, spare some individual flashes of genius.
  16. We need some fresh blood to move into that wing position because I'm not confident with either Cole or Kalou there at the moment. Kalou has improved massively and everyone loves Cole on sentiment but if they're on the pitch against anyone stronger than Villa I get a little worried. I've pretty much come to accept that Cole will be moving on this summer unless he has an astonishing world cup.
  17. Ash leaving is bad for us on every level because it'd be a step down in our overall full strength performance. However I wont be surprised if he does decide to leave only because the press have turned Frankenstein style angry village people on him. With Jose at Real they will start to win, provided they don't try to tie him down with stupid signings and that's what Ash joined us for. He'd get everything he has here at Real only without the media hate campaign - so it might be something we just have to prepare for.
  18. Win at Old Trafford for me, that game really decided the fate of the champions as it was relatively close to the end - all we had to do was make sure we matched United from then on. Titles are earned over the season but the mentality after taking the lead directly from the Mancs was probably the deciding factor in my opinion. Felt good to be the ones being chased for once too. ;)
  19. I don't think Liverpool could have beaten us even if they had their best game of the season, they had us worried to begin with but I didn't really see any decisive chances created. Though I do agree, some Liverpool players didn't seem to be there to win but I don't feel indebted to them for it; its just their lack of integrity from clinging onto a 20 year old achievement because they'll never win anything else. :D
  20. I don't like the home and away thing that goes on in the knock-outs of the Champions League. See Inter v Barca at the Nou Camp as a recent example. Counter intuitive tactics are being employed just to maximise advantage on the rules and it makes for really boring football. Unfortunately if we want to win the competition we need to do what Inter did this year. Get the goals at home and park the bus away right the way to the final. But really, something is wrong with a game if a win feels like a loss (Barcelona at Nou Camp/United at Old Trafford) as funny as they were to watch.
  21. We need to set up a scouting network in Argentina and Brazil like what Atletico have going on. That'll solve these problems.
  22. I hope we don't lose Essien or Cole to Madrid. If Jose wants those players he shouldn't have left :D. But they'd have to be stupendous offers to sway them away from the Bridge, as we don't need to sell.
  23. I don't know why this country has such problems when it comes to competing as a country in sports. Remember when they tried to do this for the Olympics? South Africa managed to win the rugby world cup in 1995 with both black and white players in the Springbok jersey in the wake of Apartheid and we can't get England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to play a game of football together? Anyway, I thought it'd be fun if we came up with a hypothetical British starting 11 or world cup squad and how well you'd think they'd do. :D Gordon/Hart Johnson - Bale - Terry - Cole Gerrard - Fletcher - Ramsey - Lampard Rooney - Bellamy Though I have to admit my knowledge of players outside the EPL, La Liga and Serie A is limited.
  24. Did anyone see him in the England v Mexico friendly last night? Woeful. Not that he did anything ridiculous or stupid, but I completely forgot he was in the game.
