  1. Played this style in first spell as chelsea manager...Gudjohnsen more effective than Drogba initially dropped deep and would play in robben and duff
  2. Stats don’t tell the whole story. Doesn’t highlight how many times a player is caught out of position, passes in behind etc And as for talking about goals, he only scores pens so that’s meaningless. I’m not saying he is the only reason chelsea concede goals but he’s not good enough for the way Lampard wants to play. Too slow. Just watch a replay of Liverpool’s counter attack at anfield for a reminder. and I, unlike many chelsea fans who voted him player of the season 😬,don’t rate Kovacic much either
  3. Jorginho has his moments but watch what he's like defensively. Offers little protection to the back four and doesn't have the pace to get back. Been that way since the first season under Sarri.
  4. Can the doom-mongers just chill out a bit? I'm not saying Lampard doesn't have to answer some questions about Chelsea's defensive record, despite my arguments elsewhere that the clubs needs another window or two to fix the dross they bought before he arrived. However, I always felt the first few months was a damage limitation exercise while new players get fit, accustomed to new side, players adapting to them etc. After five games, we are level with Sp*rs, one point behind Arse, just two behind Liverpool, one ahead of city and two ahead of utd (albeit having played a game more). Everton could be a threat and they are five ahead, but their ability to sustain has to be in question as they haven't been challenging the top four for years. So no, not everything is perfect. There have been some missed opportunities wasted to get all three points v west brom and southampton due to terrible defending. But despite all this, no-one has really got away from us. There are reasons to be positive too. Chelsea are the third top goal-scorers with 13 goals and that's despite Pulisic and Ziyech hardly playing yet, Werner and Havertz taking inevitable time to adjust. The week ahead against Sevilla and Utd will be another significant test, but i don't think people should be writing the season off just yet..
  5. Early days but Jose is showing he’s still got it
  6. Palace get their just deserts. They really are the dullest team. I don’t know how their fans can watch them week after week. I certainly wouldn’t be watching any of their games on pay per view if I was them. I know we as fans would like chelsea to be a bit more stoic at the back but give me entertainment any day over dross like this
  7. Err....I think not enough people have been questioning the quality of the players and just blaming it all on Lampard. There is a reason we haven’t challenged for a title for three years and that was before Lampard arrived. Too many players aren’t good enough. We started improving things over the last window, albeit the main focus was on the attack. Lampard has to take responsibility for the goals against record since he took over but then he is trying to play a more attacking style than under sarri and Conte. a new manager might improve chelsea defensively (by playing more conservatively) but he won’t win a title with the current back line either
  8. Only different member in back seven from our sh*te defence of last season today was Chilwell. Buck always stops with the manager but can you polish a turd? A lot of the players just aren’t good/consistent enough. the board went with spending a fortune on attacking players when everyone knew it was at the back chelsea needed money spent. why is anyone surprised we are scoring and conceding goals for fun? Our transfer policy made these high scoring games an inevitability
  9. Not many people are playing well but Jorginho and kovacic - fcuk me. Offering no protection to the back four and not able to find a teammate with a pass
  10. They are. Worth bearing in mind how long it took Klopp to get his team together and playing consistently like this. He was given a lot of time. Something we all need to give Lampard.
  11. Chelsea weren’t torn apart like this by Liverpool with 10 men last week let alone 11. The hype around arteta maybe getting a reality check tonight
  12. If we’d gone on to lose 3-0, I’d agree with you. But think ‘disgusting performance’ is a bit ott after they repaired the damage in the second half. Think they deserve some credit - not saying we should be happy - that they came back to get a point.
  13. Mendy and Chilwell haven’t started a league game yet, so that’s another two major issues at the back hopefully solved
  14. No, but no side is trying to make as many changes under as much scrutiny/pressure as Chelsea. Too many people are judging them as a finished product now, even though three of the new signings haven’t started a league game yet. The chelsea board don’t tend to be patient I get that, but it was obvious there were going to be teething problems in first few weeks.
  15. Some of these errors we’ve seen before, but I don’t think people should underestimate how bad our pre-season was. With one friendly, players isolating, international break, it couldn’t have been any worse. Players are having to get sharp during the matches themselves, worst case scenario, especially when new players have been brought in too. It’s no wonder we are seeing some stupid mistakes
  16. Christensen is now one of those players that gets blamed even when it’s nothing to do with him.
  17. Tammy and Werner have been disappointing
  18. The ref better add lots of injury time...West Brom wasting time galore
  19. Liverpool are catching up, but Man Utd are the luckiest team in pl history. Even when they were a genuinely good side under fergie, Remarkable how many games they have won over the years without playing very well.
  20. West Ham are such a pointless football club, even worse since they moved to the sh*thole. Rice must be desperate for Chelsea to sort something out.
  21. Arsenal are the new sp*rs and Arteta is the new Poch. Get a few wins and the hype machine goes ott.
  22. The Brit replied to a post in a topic in Football (Other Teams)
Not a vintage season for candidates...no-one was great the whole year...majority obviously rule, but bemused by Kovacic's popularity. Definitely was better than his first season but that's not saying much. Still struggle to remember one match winning, inspirational performance. Some nice touches, nice moments, but not enough for me
  23. Bit bemused to switch on bt at the end to hear talk about Utd putting in a good performance. Needing 120 minutes and another dodgy pen to beat a side like Copenhagen? You’re having a laugh.
