goal line and other decision supporting technology
You've probably hit the nail on the head there, Mod. If new technology is brought in, it's gonna make it much harder for the cheats to prosper. We've had numerous dodgy decisions go against us in the last few years, far too many for it to be simply 'unlucky'. Obviously we're not alone in this, just as there are clubs who get everything going their way. You've only got to look at the Champions League a couple of years back - Scousers get to the final with a disgraceful decision against us in the semi, and then in the final their keeper cheated at every penalty and got away with it. It's got to the stage now where I'm on the verge of giving up on watching football, what with the cheating and diving on the pitch, and the corruption off it. There's probably been cheating and corruption in football since some geezer in the middle ages decided it would ba a good idea to kick a pig's bladder about for a bit - but it's reached appalling levels now.

Women's World Cup
Lofty's team is quite impressive! Maybe you could add Susan George, Adrienne Posta, Linda Lewis, Jane Asher & Madeleine Smith to the squad?

ashley cole
I don't like Ashley Cole and never have. I've also never rated Ashley Cole, even when he was at Arse and getting all the plaudits as 'best left back in the world' Wayne Bridge is a far better player, and the sooner he's fit again, the better for Chelsea (if Mourinho picks him, that is). We should've sold Cole in the summer (or better still, never bought him in the first place). I reckon we should offload the c*nt in January and sign a promising young left back as understudy for Bridge - or better still, promote a youngster from within the club. Yeah, like that's ever gonna happen with Mourinho in charge!

This is what I've been listening to, what about you?
Recently bought the excellent album "Say It Ain't So" by Murray Head, after my cassette copy finally bit the dust. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZTt9B70fc8 This title track brings back happy memories of The Mitre pub in Tooting - it was constantly playing on the jukebox in the mid 70's

Surely you're not suggesting that I'm in any way biased in my opinion on the stunted scouse muppet? The very thought....

Drogba sings at the Albert hall
I think Drogba's going to sing a duet with Emile Heskey - 'Tubthumping' by Chumbawamba "I get knocked down, but I get up again...."

I'm with Lofty on this - you obviously come on this site for a wind-up, nothing more nothing less. I can't imagine many people would give a flying f*ck about Rafa's right-hand man - so why don't you do everyone a favour and f*ck off?

Apart from the two goals, I thought Owen had a poor game. He never got the ball under control, tried to take on players and didn't succeed once, and generally looked crap. Even the goals were easy - I can't believe the amount of time and space that Owen was given in a competetive international match. When he received the ball he had time to sit down and do the Times crossword before putting the ball in the net. Still, it's not really relevant - it's only a matter of time before he's injured again. Heskey on the other hand proved me and a hell of a lot of others wrong - he did fairly well, though a lot of his flicked headers were aimless. I've always been an advocate of a 'little & large' pairing up front, ala Dixon/Speedie, and though Heskey is never gonna score many goals, he'll aways be a nuisance for defenders. I'm not sure when it happened, but Heskey seems to have lost a large part of his natural ability - the ability to spend at least 40% of the game on his arse. Someone, somewhere, has coached the bloke to actually stay on his feet for most of the time Gareth Barry was by far and away the best player on the pitch last night, I've rated him highly for a long time and it's good to see him finally get a decent chance. JT looked a lot better than in the Israel game, while SWP & Joey did OK. All in all, a good performance by England, though Cashley, Ferdinand & Gerrard all looked very average (and that's being kind) oh, and the booking for Joey was f*ckin' ridiculous

Led Zeppelin have........
There's probably quite a few bands I've inadvertantly missed off my list - Gong being one of them. Magick Brother is a great album! sh*t - i missed off the bar steward IRONY thing! kev I hated Gong in the 70's, but I like the Magick Brother album now - funny how your tastes change over the years. Even more embarrassing is, I liked some of Uriah Heep's stuff back then Can't listen to them at all now. Some more bands who were around back in those days: - Amazing Blondel, Amon D??l, Amon D??l II, Black Widow, Fat Mattress, Captain Beefheart, Caravan, Colosseum, Genesis, Gentle Giant, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Quatermass, Quintessence, Soft Machine, Spring, Tangerine Dream, Van Der Graaf Generator, Vanilla Fudge, Wishbone Ash, Frank Zappa

I believe that bands like the Stones & Zeppelin should stay in retirement. I never got to see either band live, but I wouldn't go to watch them now if I were given a free ticket - they're no longer the bands that I loved and grew up listening to - in fact they're almost a parody of what they once were. Here's a list of rock bands from around the 1970-1971 era - some great, some decent, some crap: - Great bands (no particular order) The Faces, Free, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, The Who, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, The Allman Brothers Band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, The Doors, Humble Pie, The Groundhogs, Ten Years After, The Rolling Stones, Stray, Family, The Pink Fairies, Grand Funk Railroad, Taste/Rory Gallagher, Cactus, Fleetwood Mac, The Guess Who, The Grateful Dead, Canned Heat, Budgie, Jefferson Airplane, Hawkwind, Thin Lizzy, Santana, Joe Cocker, Mountain, Spirit, Dust, Stone The Crows, Johnny Winter Decent bands (no particular order) Blodywn Pig, Curved Air, Atomic Rooster, Babe Ruth, Jethro Tull, Frijid Pink, The James Gang, Camel, Juicy Lucy, The Edgar Broughton Band, King Crimson, Traffic, Emerson Lake & Palmer Crap bands (no particular order) Barclay James Harvest, Uriah Heep, Man, Yes

We actually signed him from Feyenoord. This is no doubt one of the main reasons for the great friendship between the two sets of supporters - Feyenoord fans will always be eternally grateful to Chelsea for taking Mitchell off their hands

Players I Would Love to See In Chelsea Colours
Players I'd like to see at Chelsea while they're still good: - Gattuso, Klose, Kompany, Kaka - Crespo! Some other players I'd like to see play for Chelsea - Sinclair, Sahar, Mancienne, Cork, Hutchinson, Smith, etc..... Unfortunately, with Mourinho in charge I don't think we'll see any of these players.

All freaks say that Naah, only half of 'em Speaking of freaks, did anyone here read the 'Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers' comics back in the day? Used to love reading those, but don't seem to have any now. Long live Fat Freddy, Freewheelin' Franklin, Phineas Freek, and Fat Freddy's Cat!

Did you just come out with that off the top of your head? If so, you are a freak! Not exactly off the top of my head - it took about 10 minutes to think of the players listed. It's a lot easier when you can remember seeing most of them play, makes you less of an anorak So maybe I'm only a semi-freak

European Championship Qualifying : Group B Table ....................P...W...D...L....F...A...Pts 1. Frogs........8....6....1...1...15..2...19 2. Scotland...8....6....0...2...16..7...18 3. Greasers...8....5....2...1...13..6...17 4. Ukraine.....7....4....1...2.....9..7...13 It's a tough group, with France, Italy & Ukraine - but I honestly think that if Scotland keep playing to their strengths as they have been, then there's every chance they could qualify. Alex McLeish has continued where Walter Smith left off, and the team looks well balanced. Wednesday night is key - Scotland away to France, Italy away to Ukraine. Ukraine could easily cause an upset against the Italians, and I honestly believe that Scotland could get a draw in France, maybe even sneak a win - but then, being a Scotland supporter, I'm eternally optimistic and extremely biased Even if it all goes tits-up, Scotland can be proud of their performance in the qualifiers - as can Northern Ireland.

How can they make a list like that, and leave out the likes of Peter Osgood and Peter Bonetti??? A list of players not on their list: - Peter Osgood Peter Bonetti Barry Bridges Ken Shellito Bert Murray Johnny Boyle Peter Houseman Gary Locke Ian Britton Steve Finnieston Johnny Bumstead Clive Walker Jason Cundy Graham Stuart Eddie Newton all of 'em came through our youth system
-
What would you call your band?
Emma Royd & The Bleeding Piles would be a classy name for a band - especially if they got a residency at the 'Bunch Of Grapes' pub. You know the one, next door to the boxing gym that's run by Bob Binn & Wee Vin.

McLaren back to the future!
But I've already sworn my allegiance - to Scotland! Besides, isn't it an old tradition that you take your father's nationality? Being half-English, I've tried to support England (when they're not playing against Scotland), but failed miserably. Even as a kid I couldn't get excited about the England team because I had the hump with Ramsey for not picking the likes of Osgood, Hudson, Hollins or Chopper - and up until very recently, England managers have all avoided Chelsea players like the plague. Even if I saw myself as 100% English, I'd be a hypocrite to support the national team. I absolutely despise the likes of Beckham, Rooney, Gerrard, Ferdinand and Neville - just as I've hated many England players in the past, particularly those playing for Spuds, Arse, Manure, Scousers & Leeds. I couldn't suddenly cheer for those players just because they're playing for England! To be honest, I have the same problem with the Scottish side - can't bring myself to cheer anyone who plays for Septic, never have been able to.
