  1. Can't believe I neglected to add Ruud - one of the most memorable signings ever for Chelsea! I've edited my list accordingly
  2. That's quite a list, but not necessarily an accurate one - but then it's all a matter of opinion I suppose. Some transfers don't appear to be so good, until seen with hindsight many years later. For me, the best Chelsea transfers are: - Under TOMMY DOCHERTY Eddie McCreadie - East Stirling - ?6,000 - April 1962 Marvin Hinton - Charlton ?30,000 - Aug 1963 Charlie Cooke - Dundee ?72,500 - April 1966 Under DAVE SEXTON David Webb - Southampton ?40,000 + Joe Kirkup - Feb 1968 Ian Hutchinson - Cambridge Utd ?2,500 - July 1968 John Dempsey - Fulham ?70,000 + Barry Lloyd - Jan 1969 John Phillips - Aston Villa ?30,000 - Aug 1970 Micky Droy - Slough Town FREE (?) - Oct 1970 Under JOHNNY NEAL David Speedie - Darlington ?70,000 - June 1982 Joey Jones - Wrexham ?34,500 - Oct 1982 Eddie Niedzwiecki - Wrexham ?45,000 - June 1983 Joe McLaughlin - Morton ?95,000 - May 1983 Nigel Spackman - Bournemouth ?40,000 - June 1983 Pat Nevin - Clyde ?95,000 - July 1983 Kerry Dixon - Reading ?175,000 - Aug 1983 Mickey Thomas - Stoke ?75,000 - Jan 1984 Under BOBBY CAMPBELL Dennis Wise - Wimbledon ?1,600,000 - July 1990 Under IAN PORTERFIELD John Spencer - Rangers ?450,000 - Aug 1992 Under GLEN HODDLE Ruud Gullit - AC Milan FREE - July 1995 Mark Hughes - Man.Utd ?1,500,000 - July 1995 Dan Petrescu - Sheff.Wed ?2,300,000 - Nov 1995 Under RUUD GULLIT Gianluca Vialli - Juventus FREE - July 1996 Roberto Di Matteo - Lazio ?4,900,000 - July 1996 Gianfranco Zola - Parma ?4,500,000 - Nov 1996 Gus Poyet - Real Zaragoza FREE - July 1997 Tore Andre Flo - Brann Bergen ?300,000 - Aug 1997 Under GIANLUCA VIALLI Marcel Desailly - AC Milan ?4,600,000 - Jul 1998 Albert Ferrer - Barcelona ?2,200,000 - Aug 1998 Carlo Cudicini - Castel di Sangro ?160,000 - Aug 1999 Eidur Gudjohnsen - Bolton ?4,000,000 - July 2000 Under CLAUDIO RANIERI William Gallas - Marseille ?6,200,000 - July 2001 Petr Cech - Rennes ?7,000,000 - July 2004 Under JOSE MOURINHO Lassana Diarra - Le Havre ?2,800,000 - July 2005 Then there are the transfers that could and probably would have been excellent value, but for injuries ending the players' careers prematurely - like David Hay, Paul Elliott and Pierluigi Casiraghi. I'm sure there'll be plenty of differing opinions on this subject, knowing you lot on here!
  3. ............................Cech Diarra........Carvalho.....Terry........Bridge Robben........Essien.......Mikel........Malouda ............Shevchenko.......Drogba OR .........................Cudicini Ferreira.....Haim...........Alex(?).....A.Cole SWP........Lampard......Makelele.....J.Cole ...............Pizarro.........Kalou
  4. Love it, that's the kind of football opinion I respect That's got to be a major contender for a memorable quote
  5. You don't have to find any clips for me, Backbiter - I remember Souness very well! One of the reasons I rated him, he was a hard b*stard! And to be fair, if you're gonna slag him off for his tackling you've also got to take into account the likes of Ron Harris, Eddie McCreadie, David Webb, Micky Droy, Joey Jones, Doug Rougvie, Graham Roberts, Peter Nicholas, Dennis Wise, Frank Sinclair, & Erland Johnsen, to name but a few I deliberately didn't include Vinnie Jones, as I never regarded him as a football hard man, more of a dirty b*stard
  6. I think we should take Lofty's 'independence for scouseland' one step further, and napalm the f*ckin' place
  7. is there a single sane person on earth who rates him? I rated him highly as a player, even if he did play for the scouse scum. As a manager he did well at Ibrox, but it all went tits-up for him after he left (footballing technical term)
  8. I'm guessing that you don't like/rate Graeme Sounness, Backbiter......would I be right?
  9. I heard some of that on TalkSport yesterday. Much as I detest Adrian Durham, I've got to give him credit for questioning Carragher's bottle in a radio interview, and winding him up to the point that the scouse turd was virtually offering to fight him. Carragher was whining that he was behind Ledley King in the pecking order, and he certainly didn't like it when Durham suggested that he fight for his place Mr.Dignity indeed
  10. Don't remove it, Gem. F*ck him - if he doesn't like it he can f*ck right off. Since when do scousers start dictating posting policy on a Chelsea board?
  11. There are some truly shi*e players in that list, but I've got to disagree with some of 'em. Micky Droy - OK, he was never going to be the classiest defender in the world, but he gave 110% every game. He also protected the youngsters in the team, and opponents were scared sh*tless of him. Sergei Rebrov - He was crap at Spuds, but was class at Dinamo Kiev alongside Shevchenko. Larry Lloyd - not great, but definitely doesn't deserve to be in the worst 50 Winston Bogarde - apparently he was a top defender when he wanted to be - it's just that nobody at Chelsea witnessed such a thing Frank Sinclair - a bit like Micky Droy, but not as good Mark Dennis - Mitcham boy! Dirty b*stard, I liked him
  12. i know, didnt think about it, just quoted. should be removed though nonetheless. Maybe the picture could be replaced by one depicting a scouser slicing up innocent opposition fans with a Stanley knife? All part of your 'istory.....
  13. You know, BB, 'A lot worse than Sutton' is just not a sentence I ever expected to read on the CSR!
  14. Beasant played really well when he first came to the Bridge - it was only later on that he showed what a complete w*nker he was, with the Norwich home game being his all time low point To be honest, there have been worse keepers than Bosnich at Chelsea over the years. Tommy Hughes comes readily to mind......I just didn't think anyone would remember him
  15. Well.....I can never make my bloody mind up! My favourite films depend on what mood I'm in - same goes for music too. Maybe it's all part of getting old - after all, I'll be 50 on Wednesday - never again will I be able to tell anyone who's interested (or not) that I'm in my 40's
  16. I think AFC Wimbledon's points deduction was reduced from 18 to 3 on appeal - but by then the damage had been done. The team had been playing so well and were on a great run, but with the threat of an 18 point deduction hanging over their head for weeks they just lost confidence and started sliding a bit. I'm sure they'd have got automatic promotion had it not been for the FA & Rymans League taking so long trying to ascertain which was their arse and which was their elbow. And all this for a minor admin error. Bury were thrown out of the FA Cup for a similar error, which probably hit them in the pocket quite hard.
  17. Are you drugs, sir? Where the hell's Sutton! I just thought that Fleck, Falco, Mitchell, Aylott & Mayes were all a lot worse than Chris Sutton

  19. We've seen some great players at Chelsea over the years, making it very difficult to pick a best ever XI - so I've been looking at a few alternatives. I can imagine fans queuing up to throw themselves off the top of the East Stand after hearing this team announced: - Worst ever Chelsea XI? Mark Bosnich Gareth Hall - John Sitton - Micky Nutton - Winston Bogarde Roy Wegerle - Slavisa Jokanovic - Juan Veron - Bolo Zenden Robert Fleck - Mark Falco subs - Dennis Rofe, Kevin Hales, Alan Dickens, Enrique De Lucas, Gabriele Ambrosetti, Johnny Sissons, Trevor Aylott, Dave Mitchell, Alan Mayes Most underrated Chelsea XI? John Phillips Paddy Mulligan - Erland Johnsen - Colin Pates - Clive Wilson Jesper Gronkjaer - Sam Dalla Bona - Eamonn Bannon - Peter Houseman Steve Finnieston - Kenny Swain subs - John Sparrow, Alexei Smertin, Laurent Charvet, Craig Burley, Jon Harley, Danny Granville, Bjarne Goldbaek The 'Take No Prisoners' Chelsea XI Petar Borota David Webb - Micky Droy - Doug Rougvie - Joey Jones Johnny Boyle - Graham Roberts - Ron Harris - Mickey Thomas Mick Harford - David Speedie My apologies to the players mentioned, it's only a bit of fun - honest!
  20. I'll pick a side to challenge yours in a fantasy game Keeper : Eddie Niedzwiecki Defenders : Steve Clarke - Paul Elliiott - John Dempsey - Joey Jones Midfielders : Pat Nevin - Robbie Di Matteo - Ron Harris - Micky Thomas Strikers : Kerry Dixon - Ian Hutchinson Subs : Carlo Cudicini - Wayne Bridge - Dan Petrescu - David Speedie - Steve Finnieston I'll admit your side is stronger, but then you did have first pick
  21. As Bluenut says, it was never going to go any other way. F*ckin' FA are a corrupt bunch of c*nts, nearly as bad as UEFA and FIFA.
  22. "Warriors - are you coming out to pla-ay" Brilliant film, think I'll watch it again this afternoon!
