Chelsea finals
That's a coincidence, that was the only time I've ever been to Wembley! I got in early, and enjoyed the atmosphere, if not the game. We'd been knocked out of the FA Cup by Orient the previous week after being 2-0 up, and I'm sure that shattered our confidence. We didn't play at all well against Stoke, but at least I saw Ossie score a goal while virtually lying down - against Gordon Banks, too! It all kicked off outside afterwards, naturally, and there must have been a fair few drafty journeys home for the Stoke fans after loads of their coaches had their windows put through. I managed to bunk off school in 1970 (I was about 12) and watch the FA Cup Final replay at Old Trafford. Couldn't get a ticket for the first game, but managed to get hold of one for the replay while on the train to Manchester. What a night that was!

tremendous waddle rant
One of Waddle's first ever games was against us at the Bridge - and we won 6-0. Maybe he's just got a long memory? I hate this bloke almost as much as I hate Dean Saunders, and believe me, that's a lot of hate! Just looked at Wikipedia, and nearly pissed myself laughing: - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Waddle "Chelsea Slagging Days Ever since he was beaten 6-0 on his debut by the mighty Chelsea, Wobble seems to have this huge chip on his shoulder. Unfortunately entertainment is seeing him cost the whole country a game. Chris Waddle.......it's not big........and it's not clever. You bitter, jealous C*NT." Don't know who added this to his Wikipedia entry, but whoever it was deserves lots of credit - and no, it wasn't me!

The Greatest football chant/song ever
I haven't been to see Rangers for many years now (though hopefully that will change in July!), so I can't really comment on recent levels of sectarian singing. When I've been unfortunate enough to see Septic play on TV, it seems that the vast majority of their fans still carry the Irish tricolour, and sing Irish songs - quite a few of them being anti-English/Protestant. I don't doubt that Rangers fans reply in kind! Personally, I think UEFA should keep out of it - with their pathetic liberal views, they won't be happy until they see Rangers & Celtic fans mincing along hand in hand blowing kisses at the old bill. That's not to say that I'm in favour of sectarianism, I'm not - I despise all organised religions equally. Back to the thread! Best song? I'd better be careful here, at the CSR piss-up I only had to mention the 'Auschwitz' song and Valerie was instantly convinced that I was a Nazi! So, at the risk of Valerie believing me to be a mad axeman, here's one of my favourite songs We don't carry shotguns, We don't carry lead, We only carry hatchets to bury in your heads We don't carry razors, We don't carry tools, We only wear our bovver boots to kick you in the balls. Haven't heard it sung for years though "Knee's Up Mother Brown" was brilliant too. The sight of thousands of nutters jumping up and down in unison was awesome! I remember before a match at Brighton, we started singing it in a pub, and the floor gave way Also liked "I was born under a Chelsea Shed..." sung to the tune of 'Wand'rin' Star', and "If you go up in the Shed today, you're sure of a big surprise...." to the tune of 'Teddy Bears Picnic'. Oh, and this one: Arsenal have Radford, and Palace have Queen, West Ham have Geoff Hurst, and Tottenham Gilzean, But Chelsea have Osgood, and he is the King And also Keith Weller, the King on the wing KEEFY, KEEFY WELLER, KEEFY WELLER ON THE WI-ING Good days

Who should be our main free kick taker?
Got to go with Ballack - he takes a mean free-kick, power and accuracy. Why Lampard is still allowed to take our free-kicks I'll never know
-
that's why he's the special one
That's part of Mourinho's talent. He's capable of changing things, and has done so many times. You could argue that if he'd picked the right side in the first place, then things wouldn't need changing, but that would be churlish on an evening like this Brilliant second half performance, Valencia simply couldn't compete. Best I've seen us play in f*ckin' ages!

Manure fans clash with italian police
According to radio reports, a few hundred hooded men attacked Roma fans outside the ground. Roma fans then started throwing missiles and fighting with the police. Riot police were then called in along with mounted police. The reporter reckons the problems were made worse by the police insisting on Roma fans being searched before they entered the ground. Apparently this delayed getting the Roma fans inside the stadium, and the longer they were milling about outside the ground the more trouble there was. Reporter also said that 99% of Roma fans were young men, no women or children, and that they were "well up for it". Can't blame the police for wanting to search the Roma fans - they're well known for being tooled up (Roma fans, that is) Wish there was TV coverage of it, probably far more interesting than the game will be!

He's back...
Sounds good to me - just tell JT to give Morientes a good old fashioned shoulder-charge early on!

Taxi for Ferdinand...
Thanks for that mate, I needed cheering up!

I'm for a new stadium...
I'm completely against us moving to a new stadium, and always will be. We're one of the few top clubs in this country who still play at their original ground, and that's something to be proud of. Just walking down the Fulham Road on matchday brings back all kinds of memories from down the years, and I still get a thrill when I see the main entrance.. All that would just disappear if we were to move. Take a look at some of the teams that have moved stadium: - Bolton - Burnden Park was a sh*t hole, but it had it's own atmosphere. Sunderland - nobody's going to tell me that their new ground has the same atmosphere as Roker Middlesbro - same again, although Ayresome Park was a dump, it was Boro Derby - I've still got good memories of the Baseball Ground Arse - sh*t, I've even got good memories of Highbury too (not least the taking of the North Bank, plus of course the '84 game when we packed the Clock End. Everybody and his dog is saying that Chelsea FC have no soul since Roman took over, and if we were to move stadiums, it would become true. We may move to a magnificent new stadium, with larger capacity and all the rest of it, but it wouldn't be the Bridge. If we were to move, I can honestly say that my love for Chelsea would drop to the point that I wouldn't even bother to check their results anymore. Not out of petulance, but because it would mean that Chelsea have finally gone the whole hog and sold out completely - I wouldn't want to be a part of that.

What players from Scotland have played for Chelsea ?
Johnny Neal signed him from Falkirk for ?35,000 in May 1985. He was probably one of Neal's last Chelsea signings, as Hollins took over as manager in July. Terrible, terrible decision to send Johnny Neal upstairs, his health was improving after heart surgery. Hollins has got a lot to answer for - one of the first things he did on taking over was sell Joey Jones & Mickey Thomas simply because they commuted from Wales for training. Apart from that, I reckon Hollins would have done OK if he hadn't brought in that prize pr*ck Ernie Walley as his #2. Walley was almost single-handedly responsible for breaking up the excellent side that Neal had built.

What players from Scotland have played for Chelsea ?
I always rated Kevin McAllister highly. He was unfortunate to join Chelsea when he did - being a Scottish winger, he was always going to be compared (unfavourably) to Pat Nevin, and rarely got the credit he deserved.

Thank you Spurs Fans
You beat me to it, bjd. Their show of respect for Matthew Harding really surprised me, considering the hatred between the fans. Can't say I'm certain that Chelsea fans would have behaved the same way for a Spurts director. I think it's important that the Spurts fans receive credit where it's due, so well done to them. It's great that they can put their feelings aside at times, makes them appear almost human....... .....almost - I still f*ckin' hate 'em though

Chelsea vs Tottenham
Any reason no-one's using the chat room? - there's only four of us in there!
-
Old Fanzine
Like bjd, I've got a few issues of Red Card tucked away somewhere, along with a few Chelsea Independent's & Matthew Hardings' Blue & White Army (which is now CFCUK). All of them were a better read than the official matchday programme, and much cheaper.

Desailly
No Bobby Tambling shame on you BB Well, I originally had him in my list - Bobby Tambling should probably be on there, but I thought I'd better not have too many players from that era. So Ossie, Chopper, Charlie and The Cat got the vote ahead of him. Must admit, I saw Tambling play many times, but he was never one of my favourite players - maybe that's got something to do with it as well Can't take away his record though - 202 goals in a Chelsea shirt! Great stuff. There are so many Chelsea players who I feel came close to being a legend, but just fell short. Loz mentioned Steve Clarke, and I very nearly added him to my list, along with the likes of Jimmy Greaves, Eddie McCreadie, Ian Hutchinson, David Webb, David Speedie, Pat Nevin, Eddie Niedzwieckie.....the list could go on and on. Even the Welsh nutters Joey Jones & Mickey Thomas came close, though they were only at Chelsea a short while Very nice to look back over the years and remember just how many great players have sported the blue shirt of Chelsea though
-
Desailly
Desailly was undoubtedly a Chelsea great, but I hesitate to use the term 'legend'. There are many Chelsea players who have been given so-called 'legend' status by some people, but very few actually really deserve it. Then again, I suppose it's all down to personal opinion, which makes it an interesting subject. My Chelsea 'legends'? I'll just select players who've been at Chelsea since I started supporting them: - Peter Osgood Ron Harris Peter Bonetti Charlie Cooke Kerry Dixon Dennis Wise Gianfranco Zola Of course, there have been many Chelsea players over the years who I consider great, too many to list - but I'm not sure I'd call them legends.

If Roman wants 'Scintillating Football'..
- If Roman wants 'Scintillating Football'..
I wouldn't mind Hughesie taking over if Mourinho were to leave for whatever reason. Sparky has supported Chelsea since he was a boy, and was a top player for us for a short while. He's done well at Blackburn, considering their limited resources, he's well respected in British football and and I reckon he'd do a great job at the Bridge.- Am I right in saying Rio wasn't even booked for this?
I think Rio Ferdinand should be banned for at least six months, get a massive fine, and be given a severe beating. Nothing to do with the recent incident, I just hate the c*nt- Mourinho gets excited.
This was obviously at a game in which Ricci was playing exceptionally well- PSV vs Liverpool and Milan vs Bayern CL QF
Are you suggesting that I'm not totally fair in my opinions regarding the green scum??? I feel deeply hurt and shocked by such an accusation- Tottnumb let off again
I remember that day well, I was one of the thousands of Chelsea fans who couldn't get into the ground. It still pisses me off that Spuds fans look upon that day as a victory over the Chelsea lads - the ones that got in the ground were totally outnumbered. It was a bit different outside after the game- next season
Not so much of the "old", ya git! To be totally honest, I didn't realise that the players I'd selected were all English until I read my post later on. I thought I explained my reasons. Maka won't be playing for much longer, and Ballack doesn't look like he gives a f*ck about Chelsea. This is why Chelsea are always being criticised in the press. I'd rather we buy young promising English players than expensive players from overseas who may well struggle in the EPL. I'd get rid of SWP too, forgot about him in my original post I'd be replacing Cole with Bridge, and keeping Baines as back up.- Anybody fancy Tevez at Chelsea ?
I've rated Tevez highly for some time now, and think he'd be a great addition to our squad. I'm not at all sure he'd fit in with Mourinho's tactics though - who does???- next season
think about it...Scott Parker < Essien, Lampard, Maka, Ballack, Obi Mikel, Diarra...every player in our midfeild is way better than him As I said in my post, Ballack would be on his way out if it was up to me. And Diarra looks like he could make the right-back slot his own judging by recent performances. So that would make our list of central midfielders: - Essien, Lampard, Obi Mikel & Parker - I think Maka will only be playing a bit-part next season. - If Roman wants 'Scintillating Football'..
