What would you call your band?
I remember a couple of bands who went by the names "Throbbing Gristle" and "The Four Skins" - c**try and western, I think

Oh, Get A Grip!
I'm also with Mike O on this one

McLaren back to the future!
Are you a Scot BB? My father was a Scot, my mother English, so I believe that makes me half and half. Much as I loved my mum, I've always felt a strong affiliation with Scotland since I was a young kid and always supported Scotland when it came to sports. I'm proud of my English side, but my feelings for Scotland are far stronger! The fact that I was born in Battersea, about 2 miles from the Bridge, isn't really relevant, it's what's in your blood (or genes) that matters. If we take our nationality solely from our birthplace, then Cliff Richard would be Indian

BOULDERBOLLOCKS (RIP) Please read
Although I knew the seriousness of his illness, it still came as a shock to me to hear this terribly sad news. Like most people on here, I never got to meet Nick, but we knew each other for about four years via the internet. We had many a long conversation on MSN, and we'd always have a good laugh. BoulderBollocks could always be relied upon to put a smile on your face. I was aware that Nick was seriously ill and awaiting a lung transplant, but he always remained positive and was looking forward to getting the transplant out of the way so he could come down and watch Chelsea later this season. It's great that his wife and stepson will still come down to meet up with Katznutz again, though I imagine that'll be an emotional day. Rest In Peace, Nick, it was a privilege knowing you. I'm gonna miss you a lot mate - I'll raise my glass to you at kick-off time this afternoon.

Arsenal Sign Lassana Diarra
I was bloody angry about Diarra going to Arsenal until I read your post, Lofty. The fact he's a froggy makes it much easier to bear

Scan for Frank
Come on now Bluebeard - you know that it will take at least 5 more serious injuries plus a couple of deaths before Joey gets a starting role! A good point, well made....
-
Scan for Frank
Great chance for Joey to play in a central attacking role - at least until Ballack returns

On a wing, but no prayer required
I agree - be interesting to see if Scott is put in for the League Cup games - which reminds me, the draw for the third round is tomorrow.

On a wing, but no prayer required
Great player and also posessed of one the best comb-overs of our time. That Burnley team were pretty strong back then, with the likes of Ralph Coates, Dave Thomas, Frank Casper, Martin Dobson and Steve Kindon in the side. I rated Coates highly in those days, despite his ridiculous comb-over competetion with Bobby Charlton - but then he went to Spuds, so naturally I've hated him ever since

Chelsea drawn in Group
That's all very well, but I was hoping for a Chelsea/Rangers final Be interesting to see the Gers fans in Barcelona. Last time I saw them out there, Rangers had just won the ECWC against Dynamo Moscow in 1972, and if I remember rightly, the cup wasn't presented after the match because thousands of Gers fans were fighting the police on the pitch at the time - great stuff! Worst thing about it is - none of the games will be shown down here!!! I won't get to see any of their games, unless somebody with a very kind nature could record the games for me......(extremely heavy hint)

Chelsea drawn in Group
Not too bad for Chelsea, but I'm already looking up the number of the Samaritans after seeing Rangers' group!

Quick predictions
I reckon we'll get Valencia, Schalke & Fenerbahce

This is what I've been listening to, what about you?
Been a bit of a varied week for me, music-listening wise. At this moment I'm listening to The Originals - Essential Collection. Brilliant album, recommended to anyone who likes Motown - cheers to Lofty for bringing this album to my attention! Earlier in the week I was having a listen to Sandy Denny, I-Roy, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, and Thin Lizzy amongst others. I'm currently in the process of compiling a collection of late 70's tracks to burn to CD/DVD. It's getting out of hand though - I had the same problem when I did a compilation of late 60's tracks - thought I'd get them all on one MP3 CD, and ended up with nine MP3 DVD's So apart from the stuff mentioned above, I've been enjoying the likes of Ian Dury, Boomtown Rats, Nils Lofgren, Gregory Isaacs, Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes - and far too many more to mention!

Comedy films - they aint what they used to be!
Errr, it's top of the list, Loz....

Comedy films - they aint what they used to be!
Movie preferences and musical tastes are obviously personal things - people prefer different things for different reasons. Unfortunately, some people 'like' or 'dislike' things because it's thought fashionable or intellectual to do so, but I suppose that's up to them. Me, I like a wide variety of comedy films, from some of the old Ealing comedies right up to modern stuff. Some of my favourites: - National Lampoon's Animal House Life Of Brian Blues Brothers Freebie & The Bean Up In Smoke Airplane Crocodile Dundee Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Monty Python & The Holy Grail Blazing Saddles Porky's Depends on my mood, but sometimes I even like Carry On! I found the American Pie films quite funny in parts, but I suppose they're just a follow on from Porky's I'm obviously in the minority when it comes to sit-coms - I thought 'The Office' was average at best, and 'Extras' was crap - just my opinion, of course

Other Teams?
Aside from Chelsea & Rangers, I've always had a soft spot for Millwall, Plymouth, Dundee, Feyenoord & Inter. Non-league teams - Tooting & Mitcham, AFC Wimbledon & Hastings Utd.

Some of that old time ska & reggae
If only I could find a pair of Sta-Prest! Yeah, I agree - Double Barrel was a bit lightweight compared to most of the reggae that was around at the time, though Dave Barker did do some good solo stuff.

Chelsea vs Portsmouth MOTM
I voted Essien - good all round performance, solid tackling, held the ball well, and had some great shots on goal

Who Should We Sell?
If any of them have to go, then I hope it's Ferreira who moves on. Glen is good going forward, and is better at CB then PF if such an emergency arises again. I think Diarra looked great at RB last year, a bit raw, but definitely worth keeping - he's one for the future, let's just hope it's at the Bridge.
-
Now that Robben's gone
Naah, I reckon we both voted correctly - I blame Enrico
-
Now that Robben's gone
I voted Kalou - certain people on here are already getting on his case after just three games

JUST...Who Are Chelsea's Greatest Ever Goal Scorers?
Sacrilege! I can't believe you wrote that about the best striker ever! Who just happens to play for the best club side ever, and the best international side ever! It's no good, I can't keep it going - you're right, Loz, Boyd makes JFH look like Linford Christie on speed. At least Boyd's arse and wavy arms haven't been called into question yet.....

Welcome Juliano Belletti
As far as I can make out, the only reason Belletti couldn't make the Barcelona first team was because of a certain bloke called Zambrotta - one of the best full-backs in the world. I'm pretty sure Zambrotta would relegate Alves to the bench too. Admittedly, 31 isn't an ideal age for an incoming player - I'd much rather we'd gone for Micah Richards, but there you go. If Belletti does well and earns a regular first team spot for the duration of his 3 year contract, then we'll have got a bargain. Time will tell.
