Posted August 31, 200717 yr mmm don't really know what to say about this. http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?this ... ana+Diarra
August 31, 200717 yr Pity to see Diarra go. Particularly to Arsenal. Hope he does as well as the player Arse signed from us a year ago today. I wonder how much a French International goes for these days? ?8-10 Million?
August 31, 200717 yr Nothing on the Chelsea site yet, will be furious if true hes really good and we should not let him go especially to Le Arse
August 31, 200717 yr Pity to see him go but I've had my reservations about him making it at Chelsea. He keeps getting referred to as being a young player, and although 22 ain't old I think by now he should have established himself in the team. Although he may look like a Maca he'll never be one.
August 31, 200717 yr For me this is a stupid move by Chelsea. A very talented youngster with a pronising future ahead of him. If he wasn't happy at Chelsea then fair enough let him moveon but let that move be abroad, not to Arsenal for a token fee.
August 31, 200717 yr Never liked him when he played as defensive midfielder. But as a RB he looked promising. Good in defence, good with the ball and could run up the pitch. His crosses wasn't that bad either. And at 22 he has many years left to play and to evolve. Letting him go to Arsenal is just wrong and I hope that we only did it because Lassana really, really, really wanted to go to Le A*se. Otherwise I think it was just wrong. I now hope that we got alot of money for him and not just ?2-3 mil. But I've got a feeling that we didn't. So, for a few years we've been having trouble with RB and now we have bought a 31 year old and sold two youngsters who might have been great there. I'm disappointed. This surely means that we will buy a young, great RB next season
September 1, 200717 yr I don't understand this at all. Bad move to lose young versatile player and,of all places to Arsenal. What is going on?
September 1, 200717 yr yeah, as much as this transfer annoys me, you just have to assume the kid wanted to go to Little France and who could blame him, if there was an english club in france, and you were playing in a french side, as a reserve, youd wanna go to the english team as well.. still, its annoying because we dont really need the money...
September 1, 200717 yr angry that he has gone to the arse but not surprised...he showed a gallas streak and was clearly not going to sign a new contract so it was a case of sell now or lose for free and let's be honest he was not going to play much this season either...arse have a good player but like gallas a dodgy attitude
September 1, 200717 yr Makes no sense. Why would we sell to Arsenal? Its obvious that Diarra has a very bright future, why lose a player of his potential and already proven ability to a domestic rival?
September 1, 200717 yr to be fair to the guy, he was behind a long list of players and at 22 he needs to get more games. as a full international for france there is also the european championship for him to be fighting for so I think the gallas comparison is a tad harsh, brit. I'm really disappointed mind, but i was saying this would happen- seemed an inevitability when sidwell signed and we decided to use a system with less central midfielders. the worst part is you know arsenal will have gotten him on the cheap. c*nts.
September 1, 200717 yr there were a lot of stories about diarra and his agent behind the scenes and there is no smoke without fire...when he turned up for a team meeting late jose left him out and i don't think it was cos of traffic...i remember jose was fuming
September 1, 200717 yr A bit of a shame this. But frankly I think he got bored of waiting for Maka to move on. Three years he was there groomed as Maka's replacement, and seemed to play in that position less and less. As soon as Maka signeed a new deal I said that Diarra would be offski, and so it proved. A shame and a waste for me, as I saw him as a new Patrick Vierra more than a Maka, and so it is ironic that he is now at Arsenal....which means I can not even wish him luck. I am also hearing that he may have gone for LESS than the ?3.3m we signed him for.
September 1, 200717 yr He's French. I was bloody angry about Diarra going to Arsenal until I read your post, Lofty. The fact he's a froggy makes it much easier to bear
September 1, 200717 yr For me this is a stupid move by Chelsea. A very talented youngster with a pronising future ahead of him. If he wasn't happy at Chelsea then fair enough let him moveon but let that move be abroad, not to Arsenal for a token fee. Totally agree. Thought he looked stunning when he played at right back last season. I'll be seeing a few very happy gooners down the pub this evening if this is true.
September 1, 200717 yr At least this confirms that Chelsea dont see Arsenal as much of a threat anymore!!
September 1, 200717 yr He was never a right back but but did a decent job when he had to. As a midfielder he had a few very good games but behind Maka, Mikel, Essien, Ballack, Lampard and probably Sidwell in the team he wasn't going to get many games in his favoured position. It's difficult to wish him luck at Arsenal but he wasn't one we ever saw complaining in the papers or criticising the manager so I think we should wish him good luck in his future career and the French national team and bad luck at Arsenal.
September 1, 200717 yr Perhaps the decision to let him go was for the good of the squad, keeping a discontented player in the squad could have a big effect on others on the fringes of the starting eleven.
September 1, 200717 yr He's French. I was bloody angry about Diarra going to Arsenal until I read your post, Lofty. The fact he's a froggy makes it much easier to bear I will never forget, going down to the Bridge one Saturday morning, sitting on the Bridge with yet another steaming Saturday morning hangover, when this French couple got on and sat opposite me. She was gorgeous in the way that only French birds seem capable of being. And he of course, was a greasy, smelly spotty little git. Looking at me, she says to him "quelle et le matter avec cette bloke over there?" to which the greasy, smelly spotty little git replies with a toss of his greasy smelly hair "Auh. Les Anglais". That's one greasy, smelly spotty little git who never knew how lucky he was to be able (or should I say to be allowed) to walk out of that particular underground train in one piece.
September 1, 200717 yr i was a bit surprised by this, but its not too bad a sale. hes nowhere near first choice in any position (probably about 6th or 7th choice midfielder) and we made a profit. and we also get to laugh at goonies getting stiffies about signing our 7th choice midifelder.
September 1, 200717 yr MADNESS ! Not baggy trousers 'n' all that but it must be love ... Chelsea and Arsene 'bag of sweets' Wenger. The kid maybe has a raw talent but if i'm not mistaken is the closest young player in the World to Claude Makalele. In a midfield with Fabregas we have sold a player with the ability to protect their back line for years to come. Sell him to Lyon by all means but to a team that have just got their own russian billionaire we are shooting ourselves typical Chelsea style in our own foot. I seriously can't believe this, we are looking total mugs, i've already had calls from gooners singing Chelsea are our feeder club !
September 1, 200717 yr Dissapointed by this, if he wanted to move on then fair enough, but I wanted him to stay as he's a player I rate.
