Welcome Juliano Belletti
Can't believe the crap that's being written about him already by a lot of people on this site! As with any signing, give him the benefit of the doubt - and then, if he turns out to be as bad as you originally thought, then by all means slag him off - but give him a chance first, please! Let's hope he proves to be as good a signing as a certain other right back we got from Barca - Chappie Ferrer! Welcome, Juliano - make these muppets eat their words!

Watch that a bit closer - Shorey was about to clear it, but Robinson hooked his leg round and it was he who put the ball out wide to the German player. My take on the game: - Robinson - looked a shadow of his former self Richards - looked menacing down the right in the first half, but was pretty anonymous when McClaren stuck him at CB after Brown came on - ridiculous decision Ferdinand - another crap game. At one point the ball came to him on the edge of his own area, nobody near him, and he hooked the ball over his own head and into touch for a German throw-in Terry - decent first half, didn't play well after the break Shorey - same as JT Beckham - waste of space. Clearly not fit, and in the second half showed his selfish and arrogant side by deciding to play wherever he wanted, which meant England lost their shape totally. Apart from a couple of good passes, he was bleedin' useless - and I'm including his free-kicks too! Carrick - average at best Lampard - best I've seen him play in a long time Cole - England's MOM for me Smith - couple of good touches, but largely anonymous Owen - crap (no surprise there) SUBS James - average Brown - crap Barry - I thought he played well when he came on, kept the ball well Dyer - played out of position, missed a sitter SWP - looked great, continuing his excellent recent form Can't remember who the other sub was- Should we sign Alves Poll
I seem to be the only one who's voted "Yes, and get rid of Paulo" - and that was a mistake. I thought it said "get rid of Pauly"- Robinson vs Cannavaro - Balls up Merchant of the Day
I think Russia have a great chance against England. England have a team of very good players (mostly), but they don't play together as a team - and Steve McClaren doesn't have the ability or know-how to rectify this. Plus, McClaren picks players on reputation rather than current form, and though this has been shown not to work, he won't change - the blokes a w*nker The Germany game tonight is only a friendly, but having said that, England v Germany games are rarely played like other friendlies. Also, it's England's first game at the new Wembley so there'll be an extra edge to the match. Both teams are missing quite a few first choice players, which could go in England's favour, as the English first choice players are generally sh*te (apart from the Chelsea players of course!) this was written from a totally unbiased point of view- JUST...Who Are Chelsea's Greatest Ever Goal Scorers?
I agree with all of that, except Greaves' 'clatter-ability'. Being young as I am, I only ever saw Greaves play against Chelsea when he was at Spuds or West Ham - and every time, Chopper Harris had him in his pocket - Greaves was terrified of him!- JUST...Who Are Chelsea's Greatest Ever Goal Scorers?
Brian, as you have admitted, that list is based solely on goals. No matter what you say, it's easier for a striker to score goals in this day and age than it was years ago, for all the reasons that you yourself mentioned. Not only that, but different circumstances have to be taken into consideration. For instance, Dave Sexton, in his infinite wisdom(?), played Peter Osgood in midfield for quite a long time - you may have seen pictures of Ossie wearing the #4 shirt? So it's not really a fair comparison. as the stats are including games when players weren't even playing as strikers. Likewise, Bobby Tambling played on the left wing/left midfield for most games in his last 3 or 4 years at Chelsea. If he'd stayed up front with either Barry Bridges or Peter Osgood, he'd have got far more goals than he did. Plus, I was going to add some stats of my own, but you can't really get a true picture when you take into account all of the substitute appearances. Some of those appearances were just a few minutes, so it really wouldn't be fair to include them as an appearance, and therefore the stats are bolloxed before you start (statisticians terminology!) Having said all that, I felt I had to include these: - Robert Fleck 4 (43 + 5) 1 goal every 12 games Trevor Aylott 2 (27 + 3 games) 1 goal every 15 games- Rob Stiles
I was listening to Keith Hackett on TalkSport about an hour ago, and he admitted that he phoned Benitez to apologise. Would he have called Mourinho if the decision had been at the other end? I somehow doubt it, though he did say that he phoned Lawrie Sanchez to apologise for the goal that should have stood in the Fulham/Boro game. He then went on to say he wouldn't be available for interviews for a couple of weeks, as he was going to be busy phoning the entire population of Germany to apologise for Geoff Hurst's 'goal' in the 1966 World Cup Final That last bit isn't strictly true- Liverpool (AWAY) Man of the Match
SWP for me again - third game running - the only time we looked threatening was when SWP ran down the right and whipped in some great crosses.- Chelsea Pictures - Artified.
Can't find that pic, Just, so I tried to get some video caps from the TV clip. Quality ain't that good, but better than nothing.- Wouldn't Touch With A Barge Pole XI
It's not so much his attitude but the fact that he's a t*at. i was asking BlueBeard to be honest, but as you replied Moos, why do you think he is a tw*t, is it because of the robeen debacle? It was the Reina/Robben incident mainly - and the way that Reina protested his innocence, ably backed by that c*nt Benitez. The fact Reina plays for your lot obviously makes it a lot easier to hate him. I'm totally in Lofty's corner - it's a well known fact that all scousers are scum, and even if a person doesn't come from Liverpool, supporting the scousers makes them scum by association- Wouldn't Touch With A Barge Pole XI
If it's down to attitude, then here's my XI: - ---------------------Lehmann Neville----Carragher----R.Ferdinand-----Gallas Diouf--------Savage-----Bowyer--------Ronaldo -------------Bellamy-----Rooney Subs: - Reina, A.Ferdinand, Dyer, Gerrard, Keane None of the above would ever be worthy of wearing the sacred blue of Chelsea!- Put these strikers in order.........
The likes of Eddie Niedzwiecki, Joe McLaughlin, Colin Pates, Joey Jones, Johnny Bumstead, Mickey Thomas, Nigel Spackman, Paul Canoville, Pat Nevin, David Speedie - a sh*t team??????????? Wash your keyboard out this minute, sir!- Especially for BJD, G4, Gem and yours truly
Well, as exciting as sticking my head up Bluebeard sounds, I think I'm gonna have to pass... I was kinda worried about that comment, too, Brian- So let's rock old school style.............
Great band, especially while they were still a three-piece (before 1972)!- Put these strikers in order.........
Agree with all of that, except I'd have Hutch, Tambling and Kerry ahead of Drogba. 1. Peter Osgood 2. Jimmy Greaves 3. Kerry Dixon 4. Bobby Tambling 5. Ian Hutchinson 6. Didier Drogba 7. David Speedie 8. Steve Finnieston 9. Tommy Baldwin 10. JFH Apart from Greaves, I've seen all the above players play for Chelsea, some of them many, many times (though I saw Greaves play against us a few times when he was at N17). I saw Ossie & Co far more times than I've seen the more recent players, so that probably explains my bias towards them. Sticking Drogs in at #6 is no insult - I thought he was brilliant last year, not just for his goals but for his all round play. How would some of them play in this day and age? - Peter Osgood & Co. would absolutely revel in todays game, can you imagine the likes of Ossie or Tambling playing in an era where defenders are hardly allowed to tackle anymore??? Further to that, for players of that era to be able to play on present-day pitch surfaces would be a dream come true. Ossie and other skill players of his time (Cooke, Best, Gray, etc....) would be absolutely priceless in todays game. Alternatively, can anyone imagine Drogba or JFH coping with the pitches of yesteryear, with the likes of Jack Charlton or Tommy Smith breathing down their necks?- Troubles at the Spammers!
What I fail to understand is why no player or member of management has taken it upon themselves to kick the living sh*t out of Bellamy. Everybody knows that he's a total c*nt, yet I can't recall a single report of him being given a kicking by a team-mate - and managers must realise what a gobby turd and troublemaker he is, yet they still sign him. He's rowed with managers throughout his career, though I doubt he'd have had the balls to confront a younger, fitter Souness. If I were Curbishley (God forbid), Bellamy would have been found hanging from the Bobby Moore stand by his balls with his throat cut next morning - God I hate that utter w*nker!- 80's gig

I know the answer to this one. Please sir please!! http://www.chelseafcforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4579 Your midfield of Sidwell and Mikel - unless you are going to say that you meant replacing him with Mikel! Ah, I see No, I only selected Sidwell because he'd be up against his old team, extra motivation, point to prove and all that..... seems that Mourinho agreed with me, but naturally he didn't dare drop Lampard to do it, so Mikel went out When Ballack is fit again I'd like to see him given a run of five or six games instead of Lampard, and hopefully playing alongside Essien or Mikel. If Mourinho had the b*llocks to do that, I reckon we might actually see the real Ballack finally appear in Chelsea blue!- Debut scorers for CFC
That was Tommy Baldwin Alan Birchenall also scored on his debut, away at Sunderland in 1967.- Debut scorers for CFC
Johnny Boyle didn't have a bad debut either - scored a goal in the first leg of the League Cup away at Aston Villa, then went on to appear in the second leg, and both legs of the final against Leicester. Very under-rated player, Johnny Boyle, I used to love watching him play, he was like a cross between Ron Harris and David Speedie- football or shopping
