August 15, 200717 yr You've got to suspect that Frank Lampard is one of those players he's talking about. Frankie's supposedly been umming and ahhing for months about his contract, but that is clearly the typical behaviour of a woman and so it's obvious that his other half is behind it!
August 15, 200717 yr Have to agree with what he says to be honest and also have to begrudgingly admit that Keane is doing a fantastic job and I think he'll become a bloody great coach. As much as I hated him during his playing days you have to take your hat off to the guy. He's obviously learnt a lot from Cloughie & Ferguson.
August 15, 200717 yr It reminds me Rafa Van Der Vaart, who, I`ve heard, preferred SV Hamburg to the really great club when the opportunity came because of his wife. Totally, I can agree it`s a shame.

I whole heartedly agree, I think he's got the potential to be one of the best managers around.
August 15, 200717 yr I hope he falls flat on his arse, Sunderland get relegated and he ends up running a bar in Sligo.

August 15, 200717 yr As one who hates both shopping and Keane, I'd have to say that relocating should be a joint decision for a couple. Imagine having a spouse who drags you off to a godforsaken place where you wouldn't want to be buried!

Only 73 days to go before I 'beat' Jamie Carragher's record - no wonder I'm so exhausted all the time

Looks like they were right Nothing wrong with my eyesight, Lampard has been average at best for at least the last year. Sorry, I would have replied earlier, but the hair on my palms kept getting caught in the keyboard

Not surprised about the hairy palms - I believe it's normal practice for the nurses to keep scissors and other sharp objects locked safely away

Sorry, I would have replied earlier, but the hair on my palms kept getting caught in the keyboard I'll take an "average" Lampard (i.e. 20 + goals, top in assists, works his b*****ks off) over Sidwell any day of the week! Not surprised about the hairy palms - I believe it's normal practice for the nurses to keep scissors and other sharp objects locked safely away Been quite a while since I saw Lampard work his b*llocks off. His work rate has dropped off, his corners, free-kicks, and even penalties have deteriorated beyond recognition, he gets knocked off the ball far too easily (happened at least 4 times on Sunday), and his supposed 'reluctance' to sign a new contract have just made me not care if he stays at Chelsea or not. I reckon we'll just have to agree to differ, as you'll never change my mind, and I wouldn't want to change yours - each to their own and all that..... ps - if I had a few nurses to look after me, my palms would be normal
August 15, 200717 yr he's looked far better all round this season IMO, bb. as for keane, well it's obvious his frustration at being unable to attract players to sunderland is manifesting itself in this "outburst". he does have a point mind you.
August 16, 200717 yr I liked the "maybe Spurs" bit - a dig at Robbie Keane who wouldn't be Roy's cup of tea. For a mad Paddy with a permanent red mist he often has interesting things to say.
August 16, 200717 yr he's looked far better all round this season IMO, bb. Can't agree with that, I'm afraid, though I wish you were right - when Lampard plays at his best he's excellent. But I've seen both matches so far this season, and apart from his goal last night (which I admit he he took brilliantly, by the way), he's been almost totally anonymous. I honestly think that a sure way of getting Lampard back to his best would be for Mourinho to have the balls to drop him for a few games, make the bloke fight for his place like most of the other players. Some people respond well to an arm round the shoulder, others to a kick up the arse - it's about time his arse was kicked.

Russian saying: "Let well alone" (I`m not sure, but it was done by translator) He played 50 + games a season, scoring 20 + ,assisting a lot. According to statistics (only!!! and arguably not only) he`s looking better every next season. He knows about Mourinho`s belief in him, it gives him confidence and that`s very important. I don`t want to believe in need of dropping him for a few games.... Though, maybe just to show you how Sidwell would replaces him. You`d be astonished I think.
August 16, 200717 yr Personally I see no harm in dropping/resting (call it what you like) Lampard irrespective of whether he is playing well or not. COmpared to the vast majority of footballers he has played a phenominal amount of football over the past three seasons and should almost definitely have been rested more before this season. We have a wealth of quality in central midfielder which puts in the enviable position where we can rest a player of the stature of Frank and still have a top drawer midfield. For me this could only be a good thing for Frank, both in terms of the current season but also future seasons.
August 16, 200717 yr Where the hell did I say we should replace Lampard with Sidwell??? I know the answer to this one. Please sir please!! http://www.chelseafcforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4579 Your midfield of Sidwell and Mikel - unless you are going to say that you meant replacing him with Mikel! Re your earlier post: I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one. But for what it's worth I can agree that he hasn't been as good for the last 6-9 months as he was in the previous 2 seasons. I disagree strongly that it's got anything to do with lack of effort or committment on his part though. All players go through difficult patches and I think, strangely, that he has lost some confidence because of the England criticism that he has received. I don't think he was helped much by being asked to play a different role to accomodate Ballack and more so Shevchenko. Notwithstanding that, I can't believe that you would really be happy to see him go. Even at his current "reduced" level he is still comfortably one of the best and most effective midfield players in the country. Let's just hope that he can get back to his very best again soon.

Where the hell did I say we should replace Lampard with Sidwell??? BB, I`ve never said that you said it....

Ah, I see No, I only selected Sidwell because he'd be up against his old team, extra motivation, point to prove and all that..... seems that Mourinho agreed with me, but naturally he didn't dare drop Lampard to do it, so Mikel went out When Ballack is fit again I'd like to see him given a run of five or six games instead of Lampard, and hopefully playing alongside Essien or Mikel. If Mourinho had the b*llocks to do that, I reckon we might actually see the real Ballack finally appear in Chelsea blue!
