I have seen very little of Strootman so can't really comment on him. I've seen Omeruo play a few times and he was solid in each, and I've only ever heard good things about him from people who have seen much more of him than I have. 19 years old and 5 caps for Nigeria isn't bad going if you ask me, but we won't know if he's good enough until he is loaned out in England somewhere.

Sky Italia are now reporting that he's signing in Monte Carlo tomorrow. They're usually as untrustworthy as it gets though.

That's not really coming across

The point I am trying to make (not very well, admittedly), is that there have been players over the past 10 years that have chosen us over another club because we can offer them more money. We may have been in a better position than Monaco in terms of league position etc, but that's not the point. The point is that he is being called a money grabbing w**ker for choosing Monaco over Chelsea. Personally, I don't think this even comes close to the likes of Hulk and M'Vila who chose Russia over top European clubs. Relocating to Russia and relocating to Monaco are completely different kettles of fish. It might not be the most respectable move for him, but when a contract as good as what Monaco are offering is on the table, it must be hard to ignore. Football first, money second is how we would like it to be, but nowadays that's changing. QPR's squad being the perfect example.

I think some of you are being pretty harsh on him. If you have absolutely no affiliation to the clubs that are interested in you, what's so bad about going for the one that offers the most money? Why do you think Hazard chose us over Man Utd for example? Why do you think Didier chose Shanghai Shenhua as opposed to other clubs in Europe that wanted him? It is somewhat greedy, but he is not the 1st player to chose money over silverware opportunities. If he's not allowed to go to Real Madrid, a couple of years in Monaco doesn't sound to shabby to me...
