How good was he today?  Man of the Match for me .  Never gave Utd a minutes rest in midfield he can run forever and is his tackling is superb ,not only that he scores as well .  Big match player like the Drog Barca,Spurs ,Semi ,Liverpool FA Cup final ,he will do for me.

He's a bity of a hit and miss player this year. He was great last year but has been pretty average this season. But when he turns it on he can be great, he's got so much energy he just keeps nibbling away at people and wins quite a lot of tackles, plus with his pace and direct running he's a great player to lead counter attacks through the midfield. I'd like to see how a Ramires/Luiz midfield works, as they are both quite similar players and might compliment each other quite well.

Every so often he goes on one of his runs and scores a great goal, then he'll be disappointing for 12 or so games in a row.

Seems to me he's best used when we're playing against strong teams where they'll actually push up the field, when the other team is defending deep and compact he seems a bit useless. I'd say the same thing about Mikel.

Ramires and Mikel may be our best CM pairing against the big teams, but i'd take SFL and Luiz for majority.

Andy Townsend picked Mata Man of the Match I thought Ramires was head and shoulders the best and most influential player on the pitch .

I'd say Hazard was easily MOTM considering he changed the entire game and before he came on it looked like we might get wolloped.

Ramires was awful in the first half, it was the usual couldn't pass or control the ball from him. The 2nd half he was very good but like Jonty said he has the odd good game then goes on an awful run of bad games.

I loved the way he won tackles in the first half and broke up Utd attacks and drove us forward 2nd half he just dominated the midfield and gave the ball to our magic men and what a goal !!!

Ramires seems like a great bloke and is a real delight to have in the squad. His seemingly infinite stamina, versatility, blistering pace and excellent dribbling are a fantastic asset and he is capable of performing outrageous feats at the top level (well mainly I mean the goal against Barca). I would like to see his passing and defensive positioning improve and we will have a world-class player on our hands.

He was ridiculous in the second half today, rampaging around like a madman. He will also always be remembered and adored for playing a key part in our Champions League run. I have nothing but love for Ramires.

Ramires has his flaws (inconsistent touch and passing ability) but he's a massive asset to have in the squad because of his drive, tackling and finishing. He also seems to have a knack of scoring crucial goals, the hallmark of any great player. As was said above, if Ramires could work on his passing ability and general technique a bit then we could have our own Yaya Toure. I'm sure he'll continue to frustrate me in games but I rate Ramires very highly for what he does well and therefore am happy to have him in our squad/team.

His workrate and attitude is second to none. He's versatile and can play in many different positions. Definitely my current favourite Chelsea player. He is technically a long way off most players in our squad, but he really gives something different to the team.

When we first signed him, I really struggled to see what he bought to the team, but I was young and niave, my football brain had not matured to its untouchable levels to which it is today.

But he harries, controls the space well, always the first man behind the ball, and on it he can run and run. If his passing was 50% better, he would be every bit the player Yaya Toure is, but it's not. His passing and vision is what separates him from the great and the world class midfielders.

However he is making a habit of scoring in the big games/against the big teams.

City in 2011, United three times this season, Sp*rs in the semi, Liverpool in the final, THAT chip in the nou camp, even Valencia last year and of course Wigan the other week.

Also was man of the match in the two Arsenal games that year and was robbed of winning a pen against United in the CL in 2011 (I had to watch that game with 200 united fans-ranks quite high on my pissed off nights list)

Would have been interesting to see him in a midfield 3 with Makelele and Lampard around 2004-08, but I guess anybody could have looked good with these two and Jose.

He really is wasted as one of the two in a double pivot.

Love the bloke,I think the turmoil at the club has affected his form.He has turned it on in some big games. Still replay that FA Cup final goal against the dippers and the Barca goal in my mind frequently.

Townsend also said that Hazard had more quality than Moses. His insight is second to none!

That is what I saw as well? and the goal .  IMMENSE is a good description of how he played.

i joined this forum (been a lurker) just to say that so many people here underrate rami. when he doesn't play- chelsea look horrible. the recent game against city is the one example of a game where rami played and the team still looked like sh*t. but otherwise, I don't get how people say he can't play defense when he has the most tackles per game by far. today he threw himself at a few shots that were vital stops when the game was 1-0. he plays safe balls most of the time because its not his job to be making crazy passes, he has to play safe. when he has more freedom, like when he plays with mikel, he shows that he can make nice through balls and look a threat offensively. he's been one of chelsea's most consistent players since hes joined the team, can play pretty much any position, etc etc. its mind blowing that people fail to see how the whole team falls to shambles without him.

Look i admit that of recent Ramires has looked a lot better but you can't deny that up until this point he has been really average this season. I'm glad that he has improved but he's left it far too late for me, next season he must show consistency.

I agree. Not the best Rami this season. He is good at times and he fades away at times.

Those runs he make are one of the most exciting thing you see. He is just so quick.

He may not have had the best of the seasons but has been our best midfielder (not counting the AMs).

He offers mobility and urgency which we miss out with Mikel and Lampard. He is the only one among the three that can be considered a ball winner.

His first touch, physique have let him down a number of times this season but he makes up for those downsides.

I think the problem is, players like Lampard and Ramires weren't bought in to play behind 3 attacking midfielders and I think that effects their natural game, Ramires looked best when playing in 4-3-3 in my opinion.

I fully expect a new holding midfielder to come into the side next season.

Yes, Ramires the ball-winner along with a deep lying play-maker should sort our midfield.
