clubhappy Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 A late night session last night turned into an anoracks dream when a collegue suggested we all pick 1 track by an artist that stood out above any other track, in other words , one personal favourite from any group or band that gave us goose pimples . A great session began and the arguements Started . Anyway , my top 10 tracks that stand out for me are as follows , not necessarily favourite groups, but favourite tracks by artists. 1...Holiday in the sun , The Sex Pistols , best track on The Bollocks album and an introduction as to what was coming . 2...Heaven knows im miserable now , The Smiths , just adore that Johnny Marr guitar riff. 3...Goodbye Yellow brick road , Elton John, cant help singing along to it . A gem . 4...Regret , New Order , as much as i love Blue Monday , this track is superbly written and a great hint of good pop about it. Constantly on in my car . Love the intro. 5...Starman , Bowie , a close call with this and Gene Genie but Starman has an uplifting feel about it . 6...Advice for the young at heart , Tears for fears , great and very underated band and this track by far their best moment. 7... Heart of glass , probably one the best disco tracks of all time , still gets a reaction and brilliant intro. 8...Love Action, The Human League , great pop band but Love Action was streets ahead of Dont you want me. 9...She bangs the drum , Stone Roses, still my favourite indie tune of all time. 10..The nightfly , Steely Dan , Quality . Theres a limited amount of tracks but these were the 10 i could think of at the time.
loz Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Cheers clubhappy - this now gives me something to do at work today! Will post mine tonight when I get home
Nibs Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) The one track for me still has to be Down in the Tubestation (At Midnight) by The Jam. Still gives me goose pimples even though I must have played / heard it 1000's of times since it was released in 1978. (Will try a top 10 when I have more time!) Edited February 16, 2009 by Nibs

yorkleyblue Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) There are so many, but I've tried to cut the list down as far as possible, so here goes Bowie - Rock and Roll Suicide Skynnyrd - Free Bird (specifically Live at Knebworth, but I'd take a studio album version if I had too ;) ) Otis Redding - I've Been Loving You Too Long Curtis Mayfield - Move On Up Marley - Three O'clock Roadblock Eric Donaldson - Cherry Oh Baby The Reverend Al Green - Tired Of Being Alone Prince - Joy In Repetition and Nothing Compares 2 U (with Rosie Gaines) - I love Prince and could have had all 10 of his - can't split these two My Wife - Like The Way I Do (A Melissa Etheridge song but I have a recording on my wife singing it at Monmouth Festival that makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up) The Temptations - Take A Look Around/Stop The War Now/Ball Of Confusion (I'm sorry but it is impossible to pick one of these three above the others) Any road up, I've written these as they come to me and then I realise that this is all just basically an impossible task. Where are Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, The Isley Brothers, Hendrix, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Buddy Guy, Deep Purple, Zeppelin, Sabbath, The Specials, The Eagles, Steely Dan, Muddy Waters, The Stones, di-dah, di-dah, di-dah. I give up Kev Edited February 16, 2009 by yorkleyblue
