Thats what frightens me too Scott! Surely Chelsea know better and won't make the same mistake?

Saying that, I just think Scolari lost the dressing room, he started well until Steve Clarke pissed off and it was just downhill from there.

anyone else got a feeling of total dread about this situation, if it's true.

Dread, worry, and the awful 'here we f*cking go again' feeling that every Chelsea fan knows.

Like me, most other Chelsea fans i have spoken to are utterley underwhelmed by this and have a feeling we are commiting deja vu , but i do think its very important that he is given a chance.

I have a feeling knives will be out from day one though. I can see the masses getting on his back if we draw our second game away to Wigan or something.

Having said that, he simply cannot be allowed to sign Adebayor.

Well going from Hiddink to Ancelotti doesn't feel good and I also think that's been the biggest reason why I haven't been keen on the idea that Ancelotti will come. But now that I've started to accept the fact that we wont have Hiddink next season then I can't say that I have too much against Ancelotti coming to Chelsea.

Of course, there are better managers out there, but Ancelotti isn't a bad one. And I don't think it's fair to compare him to Scolari just yet. After all, they have different backgrounds. Scolari came here as a national team manager, while Ancelotti will come here as a club manager. I'm not saying he'll do wonders, but I think he's more equipped to manage a team like Chelsea than Scolari was.

I still remember how Hiddink criticized things like the training and such when he came here and I've got a feeling that Ancelotti wont make that mistake. Scolari didn't have a clue how the training should be run at a club, Ancelotti do.

Also, Ancelotti have won quite a few titles with Milan and that proves that he isn't totally inept.

By the way, I've followed Serie A for a few years now and even though I haven't watched every game Milan has played I still have the feeling that Ancelotti know how to prepare a team for the games and come up with good tactics.

So I won't be writing him off before he gets here (if indeed he do get here, we can't be 100% sure). He might actually do a very good job. I hope he do anyway. Would be nice to have a manager stay for more than a few months. Would also be nice to win the league next year and maybe Ancelotti can help us do that.

If not, then we'll just have to fire yet another manager and get yet another interim manager (hopefully one as good as Hiddink) and then try and find yet another manager who hopefully is the one who will bring success and who will stay for atleast a few years.

I agree if appointed we need to give him a chance, But if that signing goes through, he'll have made a rod for his own back and the crowd will turn quicker than they did with Scolari if things go a bit flakey, and I imagine Guss's name will be sung aloud.

Un-nerving times ahead, but they always are supporting Chelsea aren't they

What about unveiling him 6 days before the FA cup final?

neither can he sign any members of AC Milan bar Kaka & Pato

Id take Maldini, just so he could play one game!

Id have done anything to see him play in a Chelsea shirt.

He's won one Serie A title, and two Champions League titles. Hardly a haul to get you salivating at the mouth, considering he's been there for 8 years with some damn talented players...

I'm not writing him off, I just wouldn't be surprised if this time next year, we've got a similar thread going to this one...

getting ancelotti wouldn't upset me... I'd be fine with it, thinking there are a few (not many, but a few) better options but he is a strong manager (with a few questions that I will post if he is confirmed)

losing hiddink is what will hurt- a lot.

just wanted to make that distinction.

I for one am looking forward to him coming. I think he'll be a totally different kettle of fish to Scolari.

im not as anti ancelotti as most on here, simply because no-one really knows how hes gonna do. hes been at ac for so long no-one really knows how hes going to react to another club in another country. the problem he will have is hes coming in after guus who has done incredibly well at chelsea. very big clogs to fill....

I don't see at as bad timing as every Chelsea fan and player knows Guus is going so the quicker we all know for sure who the next man will be the better.

I think Hiddink has been superb and love the way he conducts himself.

I am not sure who I would choose if it was my decision but I certainly won't be complaining about Ancelotti before he has even started...I don't doubt I will be defending him later on and just hope he is given a bit of cash to bring in some players that he thinks fit the style he wants Chelsea to play in as I believe Guus had us playing very Mourinhoesque football and that seems to be the way our players perform best..

I feel if Drogba was to be sold our gameplan will have to change and I think the whole mindset of the players will have to alter.

Not an easy Job to do in the short term..I just hope he or whoever comes in is given a couple of seasons to get it right.

I am a bit worried for Wilkins as well, I had a lot of doubts about him but I think he has been a steadying influence and is a sencible bloke to have about..speaks good Italian as well so I hope he is kept on.

Incidentally, if anyone is wondering why the club wanted to hold off anouncing the new manager until Monday, the deadline for season ticket renewals was today!!!!

I have nothing against Ancelotti personally, or his managerial record in Italy. But I do have serious misgivings about putting another fella in charge who's not comfortable with the language. Managing a club on a day to day basis through an interpreter is not an ideal scenario for anybody. Don't get me wrong if the bloke does get the gig, (and to be honest, as with the Shevchenko deal, it looks like being the worst kept secret in football again), I hope he proves me 100% wrong and takes us on to win everything. But at the moment I, like many others, have a bad feeling in me guts about it and feel distinctly underwhelmed by his pending appointment.

Oh, and one other point. Ancelotti getting the job may also mean big arguments in future on these forums.

An Italian in charge will probably bring back Pauly and his stooge Enrico with a renewed interest in all things AC Chelsio.

oh bugger, im starting an "ancelotti out" campaign right now. who`s with me....

I didnt think of that.

Im even less happy about the appointment now.

Not the right choice for me i'm afraid...language barrier or not!! although Butch can speak Italian...

This guy wants Adebarndoor for Christ's sake!!!!!!!

pauly will come back at some stage, henry won't. doesn't have anything to do with an italian managing chelsea though.

bluenut- I don't think that announcing ancelotti as the next manager on monday will have any effect either way on the preperation for the fa cup, but I really wish the club would give itself as much time as possible to convince guus to stay-

imagine IF we won the fa cup, and the scenes after the game, hopefully a parade etc... that kind of thing could help swing it.

have a confession- I've started to daydream that the russian national side gets kicked out because one of the players is found using performance enhancing drugs in one of their games and the suspended sentence of elimination that they have for previous in this area with titov (which doesn't actually exist) is put into place, leading to hiddink resigning and signing up with us.

it's probably a clear sign that my expected mental breakdown is near, and I will soon be found on someone's property trying to bludgeon their garden gnome to death using a brillo attached to the end of an unfolded metal coat hanger...

Funny you should mention the Parade...I read in the Daily Mail today that Chelsea have shelved plans for a parade due to financial cutbacks,

They say it would be £250000 and if they pay that out and don't win the Cup it will be a huge waste of money..

I can't quote it word for word as I read it in my mates Phoneshop but that was the gist.

I share the sentiments of Moos, G4, and dkw. I'm hesitant about this appointment, but am more optimistic than pessimistic. Frankly, there's not many managers in the world that are much better.
